Program Versions and Builds Affected This Modification Guideline applies to MS303 and It does not apply to VAM/SQL 5.0. Scenarios and Notes Before Beginning You must backup AMWSYS and all the company databases before you run the upgrade. In case the upgrade fails, you can load the backup copy of all the databases and try the process again. Making a backup of the master database used by the SQL Server is also strongly recommended. Assuming you have VAM/SQL MS303 with SQL Server 6.5 in Computer X before you upgrade, this table lists the scenarios that could occur after the upgrade: Scenario A: VAM/SQL MS401 with SQL Server 6.5 in Computer X Scenario B: VAM/SQL MS401 with SQL Server 6.5 in Computer Y Scenario C: VAM/SQL MS401 with SQL Server 7.0 in Computer X Scenario D: VAM/SQL MS401 with SQL Server 7.0 in Computer Y Upgrading from VAM/SQL MS303 to VAM/SQL MS401 2
Scenario A: VAM/SQL MS401 with SQL Server 6.5 in Computer X 1. Install VAM/SQL MS401 in Computer X. 2. Launch VAM/SQL MS401 Administrator program in Computer X. 3. Installation of SQL Server 6.5 Service Pack 5 is recommended. 2. Load the backup copy of amwsys and all the company databases (from Computer X ) to Computer Y. Usually SQL Server 6.5 requires twice as much space used by the backed up database than the loaded database. Check the database size in Computer X and do the corresponding adjustment for the database size in Computer Y. 3. Install VAM/SQL MS401 in Computer Y. 4. Launch VAM/SQL MS401 Administrator program in Computer Y. 5. Follow the screen instructions to upgrade from VAM/SQL MS303 to VAM/SQL 6. After the system database amwsys and all the company databases are Scenario C: VAM/SQL MS401 with SQL Server 7.0 in Computer X In this scenario, you can do either of the two approaches.
