Steps for New Veteran Students 1. Complete the LCCC Application for Admission in Enrollment Services. 2. Complete the VA Form: 22-1990: Application for VA Benefits. 3. Request high school and prior military and/or college transcripts. a. Complete Transcript Evaluation Request. 4. Sign up for Financial Aid with FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov, 5. If transferring colleges/universities or changing your degree, complete VA Form 22-1995: Request for Change of Program or Place of Training. 6. Complete the Compass Placement Assessment in CC 233. 7. Submit a Veterans Certification Request form for each semester.
College Credit for Military Experience Request prior military transcripts be forwarded directly to Lorain County Community College for formal credit evaluation. In order to properly process your certification request, all previous college transcripts and/or military records must be evaluated for appropriate transfer credit prior to certification of benefits, even if the coursework does not apply to your current curriculum. Please fill out the Transcript Evaluation Form in Enrollment Services. In most cases, you will receive one to three Physical Education credits for your DD-214 and, therefore, we cannot certify you for any additional Physical Education electives over the requirement of your chosen curriculum. Academic Advising and Counseling ADVISORS You may receive academic advising with an academic advisor and register for your courses in Enrollment Services. There is a team of academic advisors ready to assist students using veteran's benefits. Please inform your advisor that you are a Veteran student. COUNSELORS Counselors are available on an appointment basis, with crisis counseling also available. To schedule an appointment with a counselor, call (440) 366-4033.
Are you considering a 4 year degree? Think about the LCCC s University Partnership. We can help you maximize your GI Bill to be able to get a 4 year degree in a very cost effective way. Let your Counselor or Academic Advisor know you plan on participating in the University Partnership. Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP) Congress passed, and the President signed into law, the VOW to Hire Heroes Act of 2011. Included in this new law is the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP). VRAP offers up to 12 months of training assistance to unemployed Veterans. Eligibility: Be at least 35 but no more than 60 years old. Unemployed for 26 or more weeks. Have an other than dishonorable discharge. Not be eligible for any other VA education benefit program E.G.: Post-9/11 GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill, Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Assistance). Not be in receipt of VA compensation due to unemployability. Not be enrolled in a Federal or state job training program.
