Programs Designed Just for You Our nationally recognized Military Medic to Paramedic program prepares you to work as a Basic EMT. This program offers a certificate, associate s degree and built-in opportunities for internships or clinical experience. When you graduate, you will be well positioned to step right into a career. 4 Assess your skills You ve decided to be a Star. Once you ve applied and been accepted, you will need to assess your reading, writing and math skills by taking a placement test. Feel you re already there? Apply for a waiver based on your ACT/SAT scores, advanced placement scores, or previous college courses or degrees. You may also use your Military for Life Experience credits. The process can seem daunting, but at LCC we make it easy to apply, register and receive your benefits and financial aid through our step-by-step process and knowledgeable support services staff. Get Oriented Experience LCC. All students are required to complete orientation before signing up for classes. Orientation is free and sessions are offered online as well as in person. Join us! You will learn about the general support services we provide, LCC technology, financial aid, academic advising, register for classes, and take a campus tour! How to Start here and Get there Apply online You can fill out the admissions application online at lcc.edu/apply. The system will guide you through the process but if you have any issues, our staff at Enrollment Services is here to help! Apply for Veterans Benefits Lansing Community College, in recognition of the special needs of active-duty service persons in having access to and completing programs, has been designated as a Service Members Opportunity College. We can help you in this crucial step of the process but you can get your start by visiting Meet with Veterans Services Veterans Services is located in the Gannon Building, Room 204 and they are ready to help you through your admissions, goals, and to explore pathways that you are interested in. Call to schedule your appointment. Register for Classes You can register for classes at orientation, online, through campus kiosks or in the Veterans Resource Room. If you need additional assistance completing your registration, please call us at
5 Your military experience is invaluable and at LCC, we value your service and will give you credit for it. We will evaluate your military experience for a possible award of credits toward your program of choice. Once you have been admitted to LCC, the total number of credits awarded will be based off of your military transcript. It s our goal to make sure that you hit the ground running as you begin your college career here. Get Credit I chose LCC s Military Medic to Paramedic program because it is highly rated and nationally recognized. 6 Education Benefits at a Glance: You can fund your future through a multitude of options offered from the government to complete your education. From standard financial aid to the many military benefits programs, our office of Veterans Services can guide you through this process so that your college experience begins with ease. Chapter 30 - Montgomery GI Bill - Active Duty (MGIB) The Montgomery G.I. Bill program provides up to 36 months of benefits to eligible individuals who entered military service on or after July 1, 1985, who had their basic military pay reduced by $ per month for the first 12 months of their service and received a discharge specified as HONORABLE are eligible. Chapter 31 - Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Program Your Benefits A veteran of W.W.II or thereafter who has a service connected disability which entitles him/her to DVA disability compensation and who is in need of vocational rehabilitation because the disability creates an unemployable handicap may be eligible for Chapter 31 benefits. Chapter 33 - Post 9/11 GI Bill The Post 9/11 GI Bill provides financial support for education and housing to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service on or after September 11, 2001, or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days. You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Our Veterans Services office can help you choose, and apply for, the benefits choice that fits your needs.
