(a) Supervise the administration and finance affairs taking responsibility of the rector. (b) Help the rector in implementation of programmes stipulated by the University Administration Board. (c) Perform duties within his official capacity determined by the rector. (d) Act the responsibilities of the rector in case. (e) Perform duties assigned by the rector from time to time. (f) Perform personnel affairs such as employing, promoting, transferring, actiontaking, retirement in accordance with the current principles and procedures. (g) Draw statistics projects together with the heads of departments as directed by the rector. (h) Supervise the meeting affairs and security affairs with reports to rector to get confirmation and to implement them. (i) Supervise the general renovation and maintenance of the water purification, electricity, and civil engineering projects and the systematic handover of the University Building. (j) Draw projects of the University Buildings, accessories, budgets, water pump and generator, vehicles and the environmental safety, fire prevention and natural disaster, and then to get permission and to implement them.

(k) Supervise providing and the maintenance of teaching aids and the office use materials, storing and applying the statistic charts in accordance with the procedures. (l) Supervise the regular checking and the special checking to teaching materials and the office use materials. (m) Draw budgets and income-expenditure statistics as directed by the Rector. (n) Supervise the finance affairs in accordance with finance procedures and reporting of finance statistics within the stipulated period. (o) Advice and scrutinize the yearly appropriate funds, the budget to be used in accordance with the appropriations. (p) Scrutinize whether or not finance records are complete as to be audited by internal and external auditors and reports. (q) Supervise opening quality improvement courses to upgrade the quality of teaching staff. February 2006 - March 2011 Academic Dean Myanmar Maritime University, Ministry of Transport Academic Dean shall have the following responsibilities. (a) Supervise the tasks of the teaching departments, student affair department, examination and convocation department, teaching aids department, and library, taking responsibility of the pro-rector (academic). (b) Coordinate the communication of departments and branches to go smoothly. (c) Lay down the plans dealing with the functions of library, teaching departments, student affair department, examination and convocation department, teaching aids department, and then submit them to the rector and pro-rector. (d) Perform duties assigned by rector and pro-rector from time to time. (e) Implement the educational functions decided by University Administration Board and University Academic Board. (f) Carry out the functions of teaching and training to be able to go smoothly. (g) Draw and get confirmation of the teaching programmes, curriculums and to allot the subjects for academic departments in accordance with the academic years. (h) Confirm the changing and the reviewing of teaching syllabuses of respective subjects, and of drawing the timetable, of coordinating with professors, and submit them to the University Academic Board (i) Assigning duties to teachers as invigilators for examinations, and proclaiming the examination timetable for holding the mid-tern examination and the final examination successfully. (j) Safety of examination question papers, answer papers, mark lists, examination results and preparation of examination rooms to be systematic. (k) Arrangements for officers, staffs and students to be disciplinary. (l) Coordinate and arrange the local and oversea training of the teachers.

(m) Provide the university library with the necessary papers and books. (n) Carry out the plans for the safe, peaceful learning and holding the convocation ceremonies. (o) Carry out the activities about health, happiness, art, and sports for the students. (p) Carry out the arrival and departure of excursion trips as well as sea training. (q) Arrange plans for opening new courses, organizing of the departments of Human Resource Development. August 1992 - February 2006 Director (Nautical) Department of Marine Administration, Ministry of Transport Director (Nautical) shall have the following responsibilities. (a) Carry out the tasks of the general superintendence and co-ordination (b) Carry out the functions for implementation International Conventions (c) Supervise the registration of ships and safety inspections (d) Arrange plans for surveys, inspections and certification of ships along with related activities (e) Carry out the functions of examination and certification for seafarers (f) Advice and scrutinize the inquiries / investigations into shipping casualties (g) Lay down the plans dealing with matters pertaining in to prevention / control / combat of marine pollution (h) Lay down the plans dealing with matters pertaining to maritime search and rescue (i) Supervise the recruitment of seafarers, arrangements for maritime education and training, determination of qualification and grading (j) Supervise the activities for ensuring safety of fishing vessels and other small craft (k) Coordinate and arrange the local and oversea training of the officers and staffs (l) Supervise the meeting affairs and security affairs with reports to director general to get confirmation and to implement them.
