The Engineering Informatics line of business is an interdisciplinary field that focuses on the application of advanced computing, information and communication technologies to engineering.! The Engineering Informatics Department is a new department established this year, in 2014, to provide the market with Engineering Informatics Professional Engineers/Software Developers! The department currently provides Professional Diploma Program in Engineering Informatics with specialization in the Structural and Civil Engineering Domain 2
Track Purpose! This track aims at preparing state- of- the- art Engineering Informatics Professional Engineers with both deep academic knowledge and professional IT skills to tackle various Computer- Aided Engineering (CAE) areas, including but shall not be limited to:! Computational Engineering: simulation, visualization, modeling, analysis, design and optimization problems! Engineering Project and Production Environment Management: collaborative project development environment where information is shared and integrated! Engineering and Legal Information Management: Research in this area focuses on developing techniques to facilitate the organization, management and retrieval of engineering data, information and knowledge 3
Graduate Profile This study program provides comprehensive skills in developing and customizing state- of- the- art Engineering Software systems, in the civil and structural engineering domain, e.g., CAD, BIM, GIS, CM, etc. The graduates will be equipped with in- depth knowledge in the following areas: Computational mechanics methods and techniques Scientific computing methods and techniques Software analysis and design techniques Object oriented programing 3D Graphics Programming Designing CAD/CAM, BIM, GIS, and related applications techniques In addition, graduates will develop strong team work skills, project management skills and critical thinking and problem solving techniques 4
