Hotel Fundraising Guide Make a difference in a life of a child.

Together, we can give kids the world. The IHG Owner s Association and Priority Club Rewards has long-standing and passionate support for Give Kids The World (GKTW), a nonprofit organization founded by a Holiday Inn owner that provides all-expenses-paid dream vacations to Central Florida attractions for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Give Kids The World Village is located on 70 acres in Kissimmee, Florida, the village houses 140 villas and has fulfilled wishes for over 110,000 families from 65 countries. Each whimsical villa will host a very deserving family while they enjoy a fantasy, week-long, cost-free vacation. Priority Club Rewards and the IHG Owners Association is committed to supporting this wonderful cause by assisting in building new villas for the Give Kids The World Village. But we need your help! To continue the fundraising effort and meet our goal in 2012, we ask that each IHG hotel raise money for this worthy cause. Within this fundraising guide you will find ideas, tools and how-to s to help with your individual hotel fundraising goal for GKTW. Together, our fundraising efforts will assist GKTW in creating the perfect place for these families to relax and play. Thank you for your continued support! The Girl Who Lived* Cancer Survivor Princess Alyssa is the Village s own miracle child Alyssa Pietruszka, who hails from Wisconsin, was diagnosed with Stage 3 kidney cancer at 3 years old. A tumor the size of a grapefruit cost her one kidney; but the cancer already spread into her stomach and lung before it was discovered. Six months of chemotherapy showed no progress, other than to drive all the hair off Alyssa s head. The doctors said they d done everything they could. But there was no hope for recovery. When she arrived at The Village, Alyssa could hardly walk. She slept most of the first day; but, according to her mother, woke up as a completely different kid. When I came to Give Kids The World, I started running, I started laughing, Alyssa says. I felt happy there were no doctors around, no medicine or anything to take. Give Kids The World made me better. It s my magical place. Now 12, Alyssa says she knows GKTW had healed her. What I took with me was the joy and hope of being [there] and a sense of accomplishment for making the trip and acting like a kid again, she says. That made me better. It made me overcome everything.

Fundraising Ideas Here are some ideas to consider as you develop your fundraising calendar, but remember to use your imagination. You know your guests, and what they ll respond to, better than anyone else. Your creativity is one of the most valuable resources in developing a successful fundraiser. The more interesting, unique and interactive your fundraiser is, the more likely people will participate and contribute. Remember to make this a fun activity that your team will enjoy. Together, you and your guests will create memories that will last a lifetime. To jumpstart your brainstorming, below are some popular fundraisers: Ice Cream For Breakfast Join Give Kids The World in this annual July celebration, inspired by a Wish Family s memories of eating ice cream for breakfast on their GKTW vacation. A special Ice Cream For Breakfast toolkit includes all the promotional materials you ll need even balloons. You provide the ice cream and the toppings. And everybody who donates gets to eat ta da! ice cream for breakfast. Contact Courtney at GKTW for a toolkit or visit Candy Bar Place candy bars at the Front Desk. Guests can donate $1-5 and get a sweet treat (of their choice) for their donation. Cookies and Milk for a Cause Offer cookies and milk on your room service menu. All proceeds to go Give Kids The World. Place cards or stickers on the menus that offer the service and educate guests on GKTW. Putt for a Buck Set up a portable putting green outside your hotel or in the lobby and invite guests to take their best shot. Ask for a minimum $1 donation per putt, with no maximum on the number of times guests are allowed to putt. At the end of the event, give a prize, such as a gift card or cash prize, to the guest with the best shot. In case of a tie, stage a puttoff to determine the winner. Cash Donations for Hotel Vouchers Guests can donate cash to GKTW for breakfast, appetizer and drink vouchers at the hotel. Car Wash Offer to wash cars in the parking lot of your hotel in exchange for a donation to Give Kids The World. A car wash can be a great way to raise funds, and it provides another opportunity to generate excitement and community awareness of your hotel. Make sure you tell everyone guests, clients and business associates about the event ahead of time so they can make plans to come by. Please charge the appropriate price for your market (suggested price: $5-10 per car). A few more thoughts about enhancing your car wash event, or even creating additional fundraising opportunities for the day: Have soft drinks, water and snacks on hand for additional fundraising opportunities. Check to see whether a local food supplier or bottler is willing to donate food and drinks. Offer face painting for the kids if the event is in the summer (suggested price: $1) Raffles Invite members to donate for a chance-to-win something they really love like Priority Club point vouchers. Paper Icon Sale Ask members to donate to Give Kids The World. Write their name on a paper icon and display them in a visible location.

Tool Kit We know you re working hard to make your support of GKTW a huge success. Take the time to share what you re doing with your community through guest communications and media out reach. Utilize the prepared communications collateral, and the other promotional materials available from IHG and GKTW for hotel guests.. These can be downloaded at www.gktw.org/ihg The most magical sound in the world is that of a child s laughter.
