Essential components will include: overview of program expectations; principles of adult learning; resources for success including library, campus, online resources and mentoring relationships; personal wellness/stress and time management techniques; study and test-taking skills; and basic computer skills for working in an online environment.

COURSE GOALS The goals of Foundations of Organizational Leadership and Personal Development include: 1. Overview and Expectations: Students will be introduced to the Organizational Leadership Program. They will learn what to expect from the program as well as discuss what is necessary for them to be successful in completing the program. 2. Personal Skill Development: Students will learn personal skill development for successful completion of the program. PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: Upon completion of this course, student will demonstrate familiarity with the Organizational Leadership Program as well as the concepts, theories, materials and media related to adult learning as measured by competencies on daily assignments, written exams and final projects. SECONDARY/SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: 1. Overview and Expectations: Students will be introduced to the Organizational Leadership Program. They will learn what to expect from the program as well as discuss what is necessary for them to be successful in completing the program. Students will: a. Discuss the expectations involved in successfully completing Foundations of Adult and Personal Development. b. Discuss academic and ethical honesty in relation to personal success. c. Construct a comprehensive research paper using APA formatting. 2. Personal Skill Development: Students will learn personal skill development for successful completion of the program. Students will: a. Compare and contrast learning styles. Students will identify their individual learning styles and determine how to apply that to learning in the online environment. b. Analyze personal stress management techniques and study skills. c. Develop individual time management skills. d. Implement effective test taking skills. e. Effectively navigate the learning management system. f. Access other technologies as needed for academic success.
g. Access research materials necessary for effective academic writing. h. Use critical thinking skills necessary for academic success. i. Communicate effectively in the online environment. 3. Organizational Leadership introduction: Students will be introduced to Organizational Leadership. They will be able to determine: a. What it means to be a leader b. Traits, behaviors and relationships of leaders. c. Various leadership/management styles. PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT The following participation, discussion board quizzes, research paper & exams will meet all ACBSP COMPENCIES/STANDARDS of this class. Exams: Three 90 minutes timed, online, open book exams will be given during the course of the semester. The exams, worth 90 points each, will consist of true/false, multiple choice, and/or short answer questions. The quizzes are located under QuizzesExamsModules and are to be taken on the assigned dates between 12:30 am and 11:59 pm - Total Points = (90 x 3 = 270 points) Final Comprehensive *Proctored Exam: A 90 minutes timed, online, open book exam will be given at the end of the 8 week semester. The exam is worth 100 points and will consist of true/false, multiple choice, essay and/or short answer questions. The final exam will be located under QuizzesExamsModules upon the assigned date between 12:30 am and 11:59 pm Worth 100 points *Proctor Information: Each professor teaching an online class has the option to require proctored tests/exams. If the professor elects to require proctored tests/exams, the requirement must be clearly stated in the syllabus. The syllabus must also state that it is the responsibility of the student to find an acceptable proctor and to pay any fees or costs associated with proctoring their tests/exams. For online classes, students cannot be required to come to an NWOSU campus or ITV site (i.e. University Center at Ponca City) to take the exam. Professors must allowed students to find an acceptable local proctor. The following classes of people should be acceptable proctors:
College professors College testing centers K-12 school administrators High school or public librarians Members of the clergy Military education centers, chaplains or officers (superior in rank to the student) Commercial testing centers Proctors may not be related to the student. The professor must approve the proctor and may require the student to provide such information or form that the professor deems appropriate for approving the proctor. Discussion Board: Three Discussion Board modules Quizzes will be given during the course of the semester. Each quiz is worth 25 points and may consist of T & F questions and a two part essay question. The quizzes are located under QuizzesExams Discussion Board Quizzes. Please refer to your Discussion Board rubric that is posted on Blackboard - Course Handouts. Total Points = 75 points. Written Research/Oral Presentation: The 4 to 6 page research paper must be submitted with correct grammar in Word format and Times/Times New Roman font (12 pt.). The paper must be in proper APA format with 3 to 5 professional sources from at least 2 different medium. The paper will be graded on completeness, content focus, written presentation, and oral presentation. Please refer to your Research Paper Rubric that is posted on Blackboard - Course Handouts. - Worth 100 points. Participation: - These points will come from class required 1 st MegaMeetings, Oral Presentation, BB participation, assignment, timeliness, completion of the chapter exercises, Blackboard participation and timeliness and Final Exam. - Total Points = 55 points. Academic Integrity: Communication: Late Work: Academic integrity is vital. The professor has a zero tolerance policy regarding academic dishonesty. Any act of dishonesty will be penalized severely. The professor will use NWOSU BlackBoard announcements, discussion board and email as the primary means of communicating with students, Students are responsible for e-mail messages sent to their NWOSU email account; thus, students should regularly check their NWOSU email accounts.
