Curriculum Vitae ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR ANTOINE HERMENS PHD. Antoine Hermens is the Head of the Management Discipline Group at the UTS Business School where he provides leadership to and supervising some 60 academic and professional staff. He is also the Director of the Global Executive MBA program at the University of Technology Sydney. Antoine spent the first 25years of his career as a manager and executive in companies in the international automotive industry sector. In this period he became Chief Executive Officer of a joint venture company. Antoine is multi-lingual and draws on extensive commercial experience in his role as an academic and advises a number of national and international clients on Strategy and Alliance Management. This involved the coordination of 6 major not for profit stakeholders Facilitation of the Strategic Planning Meeting for the Australian Film and Television and Radio School North Ryde March 2000. The director, department heads of Teaching and Research and senior staff from IT and Corporate Services attended the planning meeting. The aim of the conference was to develop a business plan that would enable this institution to formulate effective teaching and resource strategies in anticipation of the introduction of digital technology and its likely impact on course delivery and development. Strategic Plan: developed a best practice business plan for a strategic alliance in the industry client AWAS. Presented the research findings in a seminar Strategic Alliance Strategies in the Airline Industry, with presentations by various industry partners at the School of Management Seminar September 1999. TEACHING DEVELOPMENT GRANTS 1) MBA Course Renewal: Embedding Learning Goals, Integrating Blended Learning and Enhancing Graduate Attributes (2007). The objective of this ongoing learning and teaching project is to embed in the new EMBA/MBA/ Master of Accounting degrees more practice oriented learning and teaching, and more relevant and robust graduate attributes. The immediate benefit of this project will be in enhancing the capability of both students and teachers in the use of practical business cases, projects and simulation to achieve an integrated understanding of business problems and solutions. A paper was presented at the UTS Teaching and Learning forum in October 2008. 2) School of Management Research Grants 2007 The research investigates the relative importance of different factors that influence students perceptions of the quality of postgraduate subjects. The subjects of the research are students completing MBA courses at UTS, and the data has been collected via questionnaire based surveys that took place with the subject evaluations that were normally carried out towards the end of each semester. 3) Teaching and Learning Research Grant 2005.
