WSSU RN-BSN Outreach Option The BSN and RN-BSN Option programs in the Division of Nursing at Winston-Salem State University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. The graduate receives a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. One hundred twenty-nine (129) semester hours are required for graduation with a minimum of 30 semester hours of WSSU courses. Tuition is $106.22 per semester hour and Tech Fee is $51.13 (Subject to change) RN-BSN Option eligibility is met through the following criteria: Admission as a student to WSSU Current, unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina. (The license must be maintained throughout course of study.) A grade of C or better for all courses transferred A cumulative GPA of 2.4 or better Priority for full-time admissions will be given to students with three (3) or fewer remaining general education courses. As space permits, other students may be allowed to enter part-time. Space is limited and awarded first to students meeting all the criteria. Entry is by e-mail invitation from RN- BSN Option. Please Follow the Process Below: Contact RN-BSN Option to obtain updated Information Packet (halecl@wssu.edu or staffordd@wssu.edu); FAX to RN-BSN Option (336-750-2599) the completed Personal Data Sheet (in Information Packet) and a copy of verification of NC RN license (from NC Board of Nursing website www.ncbon.com); Apply to the university (www.wssu.edu) to become a WSSU student as a Distance Learner, Transfer Student, in a Nursing Major to enter (applicable semester and year); Pay the WSSU application fee; Submit unopened, official transcripts to: Winston-Salem State University Office of Admissions 206 Thompson Center 601 S. Martin Luther King, Jr., Drive Winston-Salem, North Carolina 27110 Upon admission to WSSU, University College (UCALL) advisors inform applicant and RN-BSN Option faculty of applicant s credited and remaining general education hours. RN-BSN Option Committee then reviews eligible applicant folders for invitation to RN-BSN Option (WSSU student, Personal Data sheet, unrestricted RN license in North Carolina, 2.4 or higher GPA, and 18 or fewer remaining general education hours). Priority reviews occur in February for May entry and in September for January entry with subsequent reviews to fill any remaining seats. Full-time, one-year tract priority consideration applies to WSSU students with 3 or fewer remaining general education courses or 9 or fewer remaining general education hours;. Invitations for admission to WSSU, entry into RN-BSN Option, and to the Mandatory Orientation will be sent from the university. Note that admission to the university is required for eligibility to enter the RN-BSN Option; 2

however, admission to the university does not guarantee invitation to the RN-BSN Option. Transfer Credits Students in the RN-BSN Outreach Option may transfer credits for non-nursing courses from accredited Universities, Colleges, Community Colleges and Diploma Schools of Nursing. Courses with grades of C or above are transferable if comparable to those offered at WSSU. Courses graded as P (pass) or S (satisfactory) or C- will not transfer.
