PRODUCT SHEET CA Automation Suite for Data Centers agility made possible Technology has outpaced the ability to manage it manually in every large enterprise and many smaller ones. Failure to build and evolve a well-integrated automation technology portfolio will almost guarantee catastrophic failure of the organization as it tries to expand virtualization s footprint. Automation is no longer an optional luxury; it is now a mandate. Virtualization Management and Trends A commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of CA Technologies, January 2010 CA Automation Suite for Data Centers is designed to help you dynamically deploy and elastically scale IT services at your own pace to help minimize risk and make the best possible use of your existing IT investments. Overview IT is expected to roll out new applications and provision servers quickly, securely, and cost effectively to keep pace with the speed of business innovation. And while IT efficiency has improved in many ways, the gap between IT supply and business demand is growing. Efforts to improve agility and efficiency to bridge this gap are driving rapid implementation of virtualization and cloud computing initiatives. However, the burden of managing the complexity that these initiatives introduce can quickly outweigh the benefits. To address this complexity, CA Automation Suite for Data Centers provides a comprehensive, step-wise approach to automation that is designed to help you build a dynamic data center that delivers on the promise of virtualization and cloud computing. Benefits CA Automation Suite for Data Centers helps you improve agility and efficiency by: Accelerating application deployment Enabling your existing infrastructure to deliver cloud services Building elasticity so you can dynamically allocate resources Automating the provisioning of physical, virtual, and cloud resources Orchestrating and automating critical processes that span different departments Embedding rigor and control so that you can run an efficient IT organization that is built on repeatable workflows in accordance with defined policy Standardizing and automating configuration management to minimize business disruptions

Product overview CA Automation Suite for Data Centers offers a modular approach to automation that integrates CA Server Automation, CA Process Automation, CA Configuration Automation (core components) as well as, CA Network Automation and CA AppLogic (optional add-ons). By monitoring and analyzing critical application and infrastructure data, the suite dynamically responds to configuration errors, application performance metrics, and system utilization changes with coordinated, policy-based action. The result is a dynamic data center that elastically scales IT services to improve business service quality and availability. Figure A. CA Automation Suite for Data Centers components Built on a service-oriented architecture, CA Automation Suite for Data Centers integrates with other CA Technologies and third-party tools to further simplify the automation of your data center. CA Automation Suite for Data Centers provides support for a broad range of platforms, including Windows, Hyper-V, VMware ESX servers, Red Hat Linux, SuSE Linux, Cisco UCS, VCE vblock, NetApp FlexPod, IBM AIX and LPARS, Oracle Solaris Containers, and HP UNIX environments. 2

Figure B. CA Automation Suite for Data Centers interface CA Automation Suite for Data Centers helps you automate, orchestrate, integrate, and standardize many critical data center operations activities. Capabilities CA Server Automation Designed to enable consistent deployment of applications and services across physical, virtual, and public cloud environments with a comprehensive range of provisioning, patching, and deployment methods. Extensive array of automated provisioning technologies support image mobility and portability to cover virtually every scenario, including: initial provisioning, capacity scaling, service recovery, and self-service. Multiple methods of resource provisioning include: 1) operator-initiated, 2) scheduled for a set date and time, 3) routed through change management systems and executed on approval, and 4) patented dynamic provisioning technology triggered by embedded monitoring of key performance metrics. Unique Rapid Server Imaging (RSI) offers imaging portability that allows you to capture and rapidly move system images (including OS, applications, storage, and network configurations) between dissimilar platforms. Integrated, dynamic storage and Cisco UCS provisioning, configuration and administration enabling faster response time to service requests. 3

Virtual Machine (VM) lifecycle management CA Server Automation also helps automate and simplify the complex, labor-intensive tasks that support the VM lifecycle, including self-service VM request, provisioning, utilization reporting, and chargeback/showback. Specifically, the product provides the following VM management capabilities: Self-service reservation management designed to allow requestors to rapidly provision new VMs from a predefined list, helping reduce IT intervention, provisioning delays, and staff costs. Integrated chargeback/showback designed to apply lease rates to specific services that allow IT to track, allocate, and even recoup VM usage and associated costs. Detailed resource and usage reporting designed to provide better resource utilization by tracking utilization trends and managing capacity within and across resource pools. Support for public, private, and hybrid cloud solutions. Provision Amazon Machine Images (AMIs), monitor performance and utilization of Amazon Elastic Cloud Computing (EC2) instances, and detect changes with baseline snapshot comparisons. CA Process Automation and Power Packs Designed to speed the delivery of IT services while helping to remove manual errors. By defining, automating and orchestrating processes across organizational silos that use disparate systems, CA Process Automation helps improve productivity while also enforcing standards by: Automating IT processes that span multiple organizations and systems Reducing the time it takes to deliver services Enforcing standards and compliance policies across departments CA Process Automation Power Packs help reduce the time and effort required to develop, implement, and manage automated processes for business critical workloads. Add-on Power Packs include: Cloud dynamically move workloads to private or public clouds to meet demand and SLAs Lifecycle Management automate the process of moving workloads from development to production Remediation automate notification, remediation and creation of service desk tickets for defined events Self Service ad hoc job request management, approval, and execution Health Check validate the configuration of workload environments 4

CA Configuration Automation Designed to identify, track, and standardize the IT services infrastructure with deep discovery, dependency mapping, and configuration auditing. Agent or agent-less discovery of IT infrastructure, including deep intra-device and inter-device dependency mapping, including topology visualization and dependency mapping. Granular configuration change tracking and comparison to best practice standards, configuration compliance benchmarks, and IT security policies; includes more than 1,000 pre-defined compliance rules. Out-of-the-box support for over 700 unique application and OS platforms spanning physical and virtual IT infrastructure; easily extend or add new discovery definitions. Integration with CA Server Automation for standardized server configurations and on-going configuration compliance audits. CA Network Automation Designed to reduce risk and improve IT efficiency by enabling organizations to take control of network configurations and changes, CA Network Automation makes it easy to automate common network operational tasks, identify hard-to-find configuration problems and meet compliance requirements. CA Network Automation utilizes built-in subject matter expertise to audit, analyze and automate network change resulting in: Improved IT staff productivity and efficiency by automating repetitive, manual tasks. Enhanced network performance and availability by proactively finding and fixing issues before performance is impacted. Enforced standards and compliance by proactively monitoring defined rules and policies as well as reporting on and remediating policy violations. CA AppLogic Our turn-key cloud computing solution for enterprises and service providers, CA AppLogic enables you to quickly deploy and scale existing applications without changing code or architecture. Using CA AppLogic you can integrate, monitor and scale applications and infrastructure using just a GUI, and you can add or remove resources and storage without disrupting users. Quickly offer new cloud services such as SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, and VPDC. Scale applications without changing code and architecture. Easily replicate services for other departments or customers. 5
