1. INTRODUCTION These Guidelines constitute the conditions determined by the Faculty of Engineering & Information Technology, University of Technology, Sydney. The payment of the financial assistance for the Engineering Masters Scholarships for Outstanding International Students scheme is subject to compliance with these Guidelines. The requirements, conditions and benefits contained in these Guidelines apply to students commencing one of the following courses in each semester: Master of Engineering Studies; Master of Engineering Management; Master of Environmental Engineering Management; Master of Engineering Studies / Master of Engineering Management; Master of Engineering Management / Master of Business Administration. Note that international students awarded a scholarship must comply with the current Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Regulations. 2. OBJECTIVES The Engineering Masters Scholarships for Outstanding International Students scheme has been established specifically to: attract top quality international postgraduate students to one of the courses listed above. 3. DESCRIPTION Under this scheme, students are offered the opportunity to obtain a postgraduate qualification with some financial assistance. The Scholarships are open to international students at postgraduate level who have been made an offer into one of the courses listed above. Scholarships are paid only once, are not ongoing and are not deferrable to another semester. Note: Payment of all other costs, including tuition fees, will be the responsibility of the student. The scheme does not provide for living allowances, travel or medical costs. 4. APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY To be eligible for an Engineering Masters Scholarships for Outstanding International Students Scholarship, an applicant must meet all of the following requirements: Must have completed their undergraduate degree overseas and from a non-australian university and met the entry requirements for their course; Must not be an Australian citizen or Permanent resident; Must be commencing full-time on-campus 5. 5.1 APPLICATION PROCEDURE In processing and assessing applications, UTS will: use its own online application form/process; use applicants documents (transcripts/mark sheets) submitted with their coursework application to assess their scholarship application; advise applicants by email, via their nominated email address, of the outcome in due course. 6. SELECTION AND APPROVAL PROCESS 6.1 Selection Procedure Recipients are selected on the basis of academic merit. 6.2 Offer of Scholarship UTS will: make an offer of scholarship by email, via their nominated email address, directly to the applicant; advise the prospective recipient by email, via their nominated email address, of any conditions and benefits to which they are entitled and the rules and responsibilities that come with the scholarship; Note: Scholarships cannot be deferred to another semester. Note: The award of the Scholarship is tied to the specific and unconditional offer of a fulltime placement in one of the following courses: Master of Engineering Studies; Master of Engineering Management; Master of Environmental Engineering Management; Master of Engineering Studies / Master of Engineering Management; Master of Engineering Management / Master of Business Administration. 7. GENERAL INFORMATION 7.1 Roles and Responsibilities Broadly, the roles and responsibilities of UTS are as follows: UTS:Engineering has responsibility for approving: the mechanism for the allocation of funds; scholarship objectives, guidelines and associated conditions; the expenditure, carryover and recovery of scholarship funds; variations and the re-allocation of unused funds; administering the scholarship. 8. PRIVACY OF INDIVIDUALS UTS Privacy of Student Records Policy is bound by provisions of NSW Legislation. 9. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY The UTS Intellectual Property Policy as approved by the UTS Council applies. 10.
