Press Release APPOINTMENTS TO THE SINGAPORE ACCOUNTANCY COMMISSION (SAC) 1. The Minister for Finance has re-appointed Mr Michael Lim, Chairman of the Land Transport Authority and Nomura Singapore Limited, as Chairman of the Singapore Accountancy Commission ( SAC ). 2. The Minister for Finance has also appointed Mr Chaly Mah, Chairman of Deloitte Singapore, as Deputy Chairman of the SAC. In addition, two new members have been appointed and 11 other members have been reappointed to the SAC. These appointments will take effect from 1 April 2015. 3. Annex A New Members of the SAC Mr Chaly Mah ( 马 志 强 ) Chairman, Deloitte Singapore Mr Mah, Chairman of Deloitte Singapore, is also the CEO of Deloitte Asia Pacific and Deloitte Southeast Asia. He has been with the Singapore practice for over 30 years, including five years with its Melbourne office. Mr Mah is both a member of Deloitte s global Board of Directors, which represents the interests of its member firms and their partners, and its Executive, which leads and manages the global organisation s affairs, and is responsible for determining the global vision and setting its strategic course. Mr Mah graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Melbourne. He is a Chartered Accountant of Australia and Singapore and a Fellow Member of CPA Australia, Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) and The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Sim Guan Seng ( 沈 元 盛 ), Baker Tilly TFW LLP As, Guan Seng provides strategic direction and oversees the day-to-day operation of the firm, as well as the practice development initiatives within the firm. He possesses more than 25 years of public and commercial accounting experience in Singapore which started at Arthur Andersen till he was appointed Head of Operations with stock-broking house GK Goh. He started his own accountancy and business services firm in 1992 which merged with Baker Tilly TFW in 2004. He holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from the National University of Singapore. He is a Certified Internal Auditor and a Fellow Chartered Accountant of Singapore. He is also the Honorary Consul for the Republic of Botswana.
Yee Ping Yi ( 余 秉 义 ) Deputy Secretary (Policy) - Designate Ministry of Finance Singapore Mr Yee Ping Yi will be appointed as Deputy Secretary (Policy) in the Ministry of Finance, Singapore, on 1 April 2015. Prior to the Ministry of Finance, Mr Yee worked at the Central Provident Fund Board as its Chief Executive from January 2011 to March 2015. He had previously served in management positions at the Civil Service College, the Ministry of Health and the Public Service Division. Mr Yee also worked at the Economic Development Board and the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Mr Yee graduated in 1994 from Cambridge University, majoring in electrical engineering. He received an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management in 2001
