Curriculum Vitae Curriculum Vitae Monica Constance Thérèse Bloemen-Boot was born in Eindhoven on February 20, 1980. In 1998, after graduating high school, she started studying Pharmacy at the Utrecht University (propaedeutics 1999), after which she was elected for the study Medicine in 2000. From 2002 to 2003 she interrupted her study to take part in the board of the Utrecht Medical Student Society as secretary. In the last year of her study, she performed an elective dermatology at the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam during which her enthusiasm for this specialism was confirmed. After receiving her medical degree in 2007, she started as a PhD student in the Burn Center of the Red Cross Hospital in Beverwijk. Under supervision of prof. dr. E. Middelkoop, prof. dr. P. van Zuijlen, and dr. M. Nieuwenhuis, she performed multicenter clinical trials on skin substitution in burns, in collaboration with the other Dutch burn centers (Maasstad Hospital in Rotterdam and Martini Hospital in Groningen). Part of this research is presented in this thesis. In April 2011 she has started her residency in Dermatology at the Utrecht University under supervision of dr. V. Sigurdsson. Monica is married to Maarten Boot and they have a daughter Marie. 209 Bloemen_digitaal.indd 209 09-08-11 10:59
