When smart means easy and efficient Main benefits Combines low fuel consumption with high productivity Simplifies and improves operator interface Increases total process value The SmartROC T35/T40, a new surface drill rig for construction and aggregate production, sets a high standard for operator friendliness, productivity and fuel efficiency. Built around the needs of the operator, the rig s ergonomic user interface makes the drilling safer, faster and more effective. Not only is it simpler to operate and more productive, but it ensures the lowest cost per cubic meter produced by any comparable rig in its hole range. Very simply, the SmartROC T35/T40 makes it easy to be more efficient. Operator in focus The value of technology is directly related to how easy it is to use. This rig has successfully integrated advanced technology with operator ease of use and safety. Inside the clean, comfortable cabin, the operator has two multifunction joysticks and an icon-based instrument panel that covers all requirements for an efficient drilling cycle. The rig is equipped with an automatic rod adding system, enabling it to drill to preset hole depths and increase the utilization. Up to 50% less fuel Field tests show the rig lowers fuel consumption up to 50% compared to conventional rigs, equally cutting CO 2 emissions, depending on rock conditions. How is this achieved? The entire hydraulic system is designed to minimize energy loses. The operator can adjust the flushing air amount and dust collector fan speed according to need so that both deliver only what is necessary for the best performance, and nothing more. Engine and compressor speed are self-adjusted according to demand. Three variable hydraulic pumps help to lower engine speed during nonedrilling time and tramming. Automatic cooler fan control is a standard feature.
Double hose drum with a specific location for each hose extends the life of the hoses and does not require greasing. Hydraulic double drill steel support with movable lower support helps achive straighter holes and fast collaring. Hydraulic cylinder-feeding system ensures that the adjusted feed force is applied to the drill bit at all times during drilling, which results in improved rock tool performance and productivity. LED lights offer better illumination, are more resistant to vibration and easier to change.
Improved serviceability Compared to similar rigs on the market, the design of the SmartROC reduces hoses by 50% and couplings by 70%, minimizing risk of leakages. This streamlining is due to a distributed approach in which hydraulic valves and electric modules are positioned at the location where they function, allowing for easier access to components. A 65% smaller hydraulic tank compared to the previous generation rig creates more space and allows for easier service access. Hydraulic oil change intervals remain unchanged. Step up with radio remote control SmartROC is the first surface drill rig in the Atlas Copco family with both cabin and radio remote control functionality. The rig is default-ready for radio remote control and can be upgraded with a radio remote control kit. This will increase the utilization of the rig in uneven terrain and ensure safe operation. Productivity today and tomorrow SmartROC includes Atlas Copco s well-proven rock drill control system. Not only is it the most advanced system on the market, but it also allows for future upgrades. With proportional control of feed, torque and impact, it is possible to drill efficiently, even in difficult rock formations. Stronger than steel The aluminium feed beam is lighter than a steel beam and structurally stronger. The aluminium feed beam is also considerably more resistant to bending and twisting. Committed to sustainable operations SmartROC is equipped with a Tier 4 engine that fulfils more stringent environmental standards than previous generation engines. This engine reduces NOx emissions by 50 % and particle matters by 90%, resulting in a substantial environmental improvement. Earn more per cubic meter SmartROC can be equipped with hole navigation system (HNS) as an option, enabling drill pattern navigation with the help of GNSS receivers. HNS handles hole position and inclination, correct aiming and the required hole depth as defined in the prepared drill plan. The result is a decrease in the drill and blast cost per cubic meter produced.
Handles road cut jobs and quarry work The SmartROC T40 is easily tuned and the resulting flexibility allows for a wide optimum hole range (76-127 mm, 3-5 ). To contractors, this is a major advantage, allowing them to safely bid for road cut jobs in 76 mm applications as well as quarry work up to 127 mm applications using the same rig, fully confident of top performance. Two rock drills in one The well-proven COP series rock drills offer the best energy efficiency on the market. The unique double dampening system increases the contact of the bit to drill surface, resulting in higher rock tool consumable life and straighter holes. The new COP 2540 is a high frequency rock drill option for SmartROC T35, designed to perform in the same hole range and carry on the legacy of the highly regarded COP 1840. With the two stroke settings, changing the percussion energy level and impact piston frequency, COP rock drills function like two rock drills in one. High performance in rough terrain With a low center of gravity and high ground clearance, this rig is a performer in rough terrain conditions. The optional winch is integrated in the drill rig design and does not affect ground clearance. The support leg can be used during drilling to stabilize the rig. However, its main purpose, unique to its design, is the use of the support leg during tramming for higher stability in rough terrain. Boom reach of 7.6 meters height for horizontal drilling and 5.5 meters forward for vertical drilling gives the rig great flexibility.
