SyncThru Admin 6 has been augmented with mobile management and an increased number of widgets and users. PC Dashboard with widgets. The 8-widget PC Dashboard is customizable based on what needs to be monitored. Mobile Dashboard. Also known as Mobile Manager, it enables the PC Dashboard to be viewed from a mobile device. Automated Task Manager. Rules and Events can be set up to automate redundant manager tasks, saving time and money. Simple Notification Services (SNS) Notification. This feature can be set up to send service notifications through Twitter Tweets to either a PC or mobile device. IT managers and vendors can monitor all devices; local IT staff monitor only the printers in their domain and group. Each widget is displayed as an image, pie chart, table or columns. Also, each widget contains a link to a related report or device list. Users can access these reports and lists by clicking the image, pie chart, table or columns associated with each widget. Figure 1. Samsung SyncThru Admin 6 offers a customizable PC Dashboard to assist in device supervision. 3
Mobile Dashboard displays the PC Dashboard on a mobile device. View printer activity from a mobile device with SyncThru Admin 6 Mobile Dashboard Users can monitor printers even when away from the office using the Mobile Dashboard. The Mobile Dashboard helps increase administrator efficiency and productivity by displaying select PC Dashboard widgets on almost any Internet-enabled mobile device connected to the company s intranet.* By not having to be at a desk to monitor devices, administrators can respond more quickly to device events and errors. The Mobile Dashboard integrates the SyncThru Admin 6 PC Dashboard widgets and displays the widgets on a network-connected smartphone or tablet. The Mobile Dashboard is configured using the mobile device s browser. The user selects the widgets to be displayed on the mobile device: Device Status, Current Error or Toner Status. The widgets displayed on the PC Dashboard can be different from the widgets displayed on the Mobile Dashboard. The user can even select different groups to monitor through Mobile Dashboard. *Note: The mobile device must be connected to the company s intranet to access the SyncThru Admin 6 Mobile Dashboard. An IT administrator must open the SyncThru Admin Web port to enable access to the Mobile Dashboard from a non-intranet enabled mobile device. SyncThru TM Admin 6...enables administrators to view the solution using a mobile dashboard interface...it also allows administrators to configure error alerts on up to 39 error conditions. SyncThru Admin 6 helps reduce operating costs by automating tasks. Automate redundant tasks using the SyncThru Admin 6 Automated Task Manager Repetitive tasks related to printer management can be automated using the SyncThru Admin 6 Automated Task Manager. For example, users can place a new device into the appropriate device group automatically using the Automated Task Manager. Automated Task Manager Rules and Events The SyncThru Admin 6 Automated Task Manager is based on Rules and Events, which include Conditions and Actions. With rule-based task automation, IT staff and vendor administrators can create Rules and manage repetitive tasks based on the Rule s Events, Conditions and Actions. Rules are based on device Events, such as a device being added to a specific group. Device Events also have conditions that must be met in order for an action to occur. For example, a Rule can be set up to send a device alert (Event) when an alert has been detected for a device (Condition). The device alert is then sent to the administrator through a Twitter Tweet (Action). Figure 3. PC version of Twitter Tweet notification After an Event has been selected, Rules are set up through the Add Rule Wizard. Event Conditions and Actions are also associated with groups (for example, Second Floor Headquarters) and device lists (for example, All [Samsung model number]) in the Wizard. Receive an SNS Notification when a device needs service through Twitter Tweets Printer administrators do not need to continuously monitor the Dashboard for device notifications. SNS Notifications can be sent to a PC or mobile device alerting administrators when an event or error occurs on networked printing and imaging devices. The notifications are sent near real time through Twitter Tweets. Before using Twitter notifications, an account must be created and SyncThru Admin 6 must be registered as an application. After the account has been authenticated, administrators can begin receiving device-related Tweets. Up to 250 direct messages and 1,000 Tweets can be received in a day. Figure 4.
