About Mixing Station is an Android app to remote control the Behringer X32 and other compatible mixer. The project started October 2013 and all development is done by one person in his freetime. Also I want to thank everyone who helped with beta testing, new feature ideas and general feedback! Compatible Mixer: X32, X32 Producer, X32 Compact, X32 Rack, X32 Core / starting with firmware version 1.15 Midas M32 Page 3

Quick start To connect Mixing Station to an X32 a Wi-Fi router is required. There are many ways to setup a network so the following guide is only one of many solutions. 1) Open the configuration page of the Wi-Fi router and activate the DHCP server. Write down the start IP address of the DHCP range, we will need that later. 2) Change the IP address of the X32 to be below the DHCP address range. Example: IP Router: 192.168.1.1 DHCP-Range: 192.168.1.20 192.168.1.200 X32 IP: 192.168.1. X (X must be less than 20 and more than 1) X32 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 X32 Gateway: 192.168.1.1 (IP of the Wi-Fi router) 3) Connect the Wi-Fi router to the X32 via an Ethernet cable. If your Wi-Fi router has a Wan port make sure not to use it. 4) Connect your android device to the wifi network. 5) Open Mixing Station, select your desired access mode and press Search. After 1-10 seconds a new entry should appear with the x32. Click on it to connect. 6) If no console is found try to enter the IP address of the X32 in the X32 IP field and press Connect. 7) If you got trouble setting up your network see FAQ. Page 4

Start View When starting the app you will see the start view. Here you can enter the IP of the X32, change the different access modes and go to the power management setup of the app. Buttons - Search: Searches for an X32. If multiple X32 are in one networks, all of them are listed. This function requires a broadcast capable wifi router. - Connect: Connects to a X32 at the IP Address in the X32 IP textfield. - Offline: Starts the app in offline mode. Some functions will not work in this mode (e.g. channel link). - Setup: Opens the power management setup of the app. Mix-Access This function limits the access to the X32. If you select anything else than All you access will be limited to the item you selected. Page 5

UI Elements Knobs The knob is used by dragging your finger into any direction. The image on the left shows the different axis and their influence on the current value. A combination of two axis is possible: A drag to the top right corner increases the value faster than dragging only to the right. Touch and hold the knob to get a horizontal fader popup for more precise value changes. The popup will only open if the value of the knob has not been changed by a drag since touching it. Fader The fader is used by dragging the white knob to the top or bottom. If the Fine Mode is enabled it is possible to start dragging at any position. Fader popup / GEQ fader: A double tap on a fader resets its value to default. Depending on the accuracy of the touchscreen a small value jump might occur when starting dragging the fader knob. FAQ I can t connect to the mixer. How can I make it work? First of all check if your network is setup correctly. To do so download the app Fing - Network Tools onto your device and ping the IP of the X32. If you can t get a response, your network is not setup correctly. If you can see the IP of the X32 but still can t connect send me an email. Will you make this app compatible with android < 4.0? No. It would be too much work. Which firmware versions of the X32 are supported? >= 1.15 Which X32 models are supported by Mixing Station? See About Can I use my android device as a wifi inear solution? No. It s not possible because the X32 can t send audio via a IP based network. Also the latency would be > 30ms because of the wifi connection and encoding/decoding of the audio stream. I found a bug! Not a question but if you found a bug you can report it here: https://bugs.dev-core.org/ Just click on Open a new Task anonymously and write down what happened and how it happened. Please make sure to leave your email so I can contact you in case I need more information. How can I request new features? See I found a bug! How many lines of code did you write? Currently the source code is about 33.000 lines long (excluding empty lines and comments) Can I have to source code? No sorry, the app is a closed source project. But if you got any questions about the communication with the X32 or how to call certain commands feel free to as: david@dev-core.org Page 15
