Build partnerships of spirit. About First Partners Bank First Partners Bank was formed in October 2007 as SouthCity Bank. In March 2012 the bank changed its name to First Partners Bank to more clearly define the mission of partnering with our customers. Along with a dynamic new logo and reinvigorated brand, the new name is a clear reflection of First Partners core purpose-we are bankers, but first and foremost we are partners-a mindset that guides everything we do. First Partners Bank has experienced growth every year since its inception. This can be attributed to our commitment to internal core competencies and a continued focus on operational excellence and customer service. In 2010, First Partners Bank was the only bank with a presence in the metro Birmingham area to achieve perfect five-star safety ratings in the fourth quarter from Florida-based research firms Bauer Financial and Bankrate.com. Roy Swayze Award, Alabama Historical Commission 2014 First Partners Bank and the firm Shannon Waltchack received the Roy Swayze Award for the restoration of 2121 Highland Avenue South, Birmingham. In an effort to retain its historical characteristics and appearance, they went to great lengths and expense to rehabilitate the First Partners Bank building to national standards. The building kept its designation in the National Register and owners were able to take advantage of national rehabilitation tax credits. Entrepreneur Spotlight, Birmingham Business Journal 2014 The 2014 Entrepreneur Spotlight award honors excellence among startups and small businesses across a range of industries from tech and real estate to retail and health care. First Partners Bank was among 15 companies in Birmingham recognized this year. Leadership Elam P. Holley, Jr., Director, President and CEO Elam helped organize and launch First Partners Bank in October 2007 and has led the bank to growth of more than $207 million in assets. Elam has more than 40 years of banking experience and serves on multiple boards. Prior to joining First Partners Bank, he was the President and CEO of The Peoples Bank and Trust Company. Kenneth W. Till, EVP, CFO Kenneth Till has more than 23 years of experience in the financial services industry and is a member of the organizing group that founded First Partners Bank. Kenneth currently directs all financial and operational aspects of First Partners Bank, including treasury management, asset/liability management and investment portfolio management. Before joining First Partners Bank, Kenneth worked with Regions Financial Corporation serving as Senior Vice President and Assistant Comptroller. Art Freeman, EVP, Chief Lending Officer Art Freeman joined First Partners Bank in January of 2012 as the chief lending officer. He brings 12 years of experience in commercial real estate finance, including loan origination for development, construction, bridge and term facilities for multi-family, office, medical office, retail, industrial and self-storage properties. He has previously held leadership positions at BancSource Advisors, Red Mountain Bank and AmSouth Bank. Art received his B.A. in English from Columbia University and his M.B.A. from The University of Alabama. Scott Mathews, EVP, Chief Credit Officer Scott Mathews brings more than 28 years of experience in credit administration. He previously held leadership positions at ServisFirst Bank and First Commercial Bank. He received his M.B.A. from Samford University and his B.S. in Finance from The University of Alabama. Terry Pritchett, EVP, Risk Management Officer Terry Pritchett has more than 40 years of experience in risk management, internal auditing and regulatory compliance. She previously held leadership positions at SouthTrust Bank (Birmingham) and The Peoples Bank & Trust Company (Selma). She received her Accounting degree from Troy State University and holds several certifications in her area of expertise. 3
Board of Directors Mark Clark Dr. Clark serves on the Board of Directors of the Corporation and the Bank. Dr. Clark is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon practicing with Oral & Facial Surgery of Alabama, P.C. Christopher R. Cooper Mr. Cooper is the Chief Operating Officer and Owner of Boyd Bros. Trucking in Clayton, Alabama. Mr. Cooper has been with Boyd Bros. for 16 years. In addition, Mr. Cooper is active in various civic organizations. Richard A. Freese Mr. Freese serves on the Board of Directors of the Corporation and the Bank. Mr. Freese practices law, with offices in Birmingham, Alabama; Jackson, Mississippi; and Dallas, Texas. He is also general counsel of Freese Construction Company, with offices in Atlanta, Georgia; Orlando, Florida; and Austin, Texas. Elam P. Holley, Jr. Mr. Holley serves as President and CEO of the Corporation and the Bank. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Corporation and the Bank. Mr. Holley has 40 years of banking experience in Alabama, having served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Peoples Bank and Trust Company and as President of the Birmingham Division for Peoples Bank and Trust Company. Kevin B. Kynerd Mr. Kynerd serves on the Board of Directors of the Corporation and the Bank. Mr. Kynerd is President of Bradford Building Company, Inc. Mr. Kynerd s prior banking experience includes serving as a member of the Young Executive Board of Compass Bank. Mr. Kynerd is active in business and civic affairs in Birmingham. Charles A. McCallum, III Mr. McCallum serves on the Board of Directors of the Corporation and the Bank. Mr. McCallum is an attorney practicing in the city of Vestavia Hills. Visintainer Mr. Visintainer is the CEO and President of Atlas Welding Supply Co., Inc, headquartered in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The Tools for Success resources were developed to allow us to help business owners become more prepared as they face the economic and market challenges of today s competitive and changing business environment. We feel these resources are an effective way for us to truly partner with our customers and the community. Workshops Tools for Success Through partnerships forged with local public libraries, chambers of commerce and business community groups, we host a Small Business Workshop Series on topics such as social media, marketing, public relations, human resources and more. Blog Business owners learning how to build a marketing plan at the Homewood Public Library. Through partnerships with local business experts, we ve also developed an information blog where we periodically post articles and tips for small businesses. 7
Magazine Our biannual publication, Tools for Success magazine, includes features, articles and resources developed with the business owner in mind. We currently print 12,000 copies of the publication which is distributed through strategic rack locations and as a piggyback publication to Birmingham-area subscribers of Business Alabama. A digital copy of the magazine is also available for online viewing. Radio In partnership with local talk radio, we produce a series of radio segments that provide resources and interviews specifically designed to engage and educate small business owners.
