Overall Search Concept SAP HCM Renewal 1.0 comes with an entirely new Search and Navigation concept: Look up employee data, orgunits and positions from one simple search field Access the Search features of the application from wherever you are Easily navigate from Search results to any executable action or data look-up Use Search and Orgstructure navigation in parallel, regardless whether you re looking for employees, orgunits or positions. Easily tailor search logic to customer needs with flexible configuration 30

Find Employees, OrgUnits and Positions Directly on Landing Page A Search Lane provides direct access to an overall search feature. Users can look up any employee, org unit, or position from one single field. Search term is matched again fields of employee, orgunit and positions (e.g. ID, name, long text, abbreviation). By default this field looks through all categories. You can use this field, or click on the Lane header to directly open the Expanded Search Lane with more options. Categories and matching fields are fully configurable (see following chapters). 31

Integrated Search in Master Data Application Quick access to Search for Employees, OrgUnits and Positions within the Master Data Application. Simple Search: Search term will be looked up in various database fields for each object (configurable) Example: search term test for category OrgUnit will find all OrgUnits starting with test in ID, full name, abbreviation or description. Search term *test will find all OrgUnits that contain test in ID, full name, abbreviation or description Results immediately executable: Open profile page of the search result Directly access a view or change action for the search result 32
