It is an annual gathering of the most influential leaders and innovators in the mailing industry. There were four days of instructional workshops and networking events designed to enable the mailing industry and associated businesses to succeed. In his opening remarks, Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe stressed the importance of using mail in different ways to build brand awareness, increase revenue and reduce costs. He stated, We re seeing mail being used in some tremendous new ways, especially as part of integrated marketing campaigns. Augmented reality is one way to merge physical mail with digital mail along with embedding scannable graphics in QR codes. These technologies will assist in making marketing mail more relevant to a growing number of users of technology. This brings up IMb implementation and why Full service IMb still makes sense. There are many mailers that are not ready for IMb, but for those who are there are cost savings and tracking opportunities IMb users are benefiting from. Other benefits of Full service IMb are immediate access to address change records and corrections, more move update information which will mean postage savings for companies required by law to mail to the last known address, and the ability to use QR codes in mailings. The 2014 National Postal Forum is over, but the theme of the conference Stronger Together was made clear. The next three to five years will show growth through innovation in both the Postal Service and the Mailing Industry. Jeffrey Day, Postmaster, Sacramento

3/31/2014 news18s2-large.jpg (500 391) Coming soon Postal Service Sets My USPS.com Launch A year ago, PMG Pat Donahoe asked attendees at the National Postal Forum to imagine an online application that a person or small business could use to track packages being delivered to or sent from an address. This month, the PMG s prediction begins to take shape with the launch of My USPS.com, planned for Spring of 2014. A collaboration between Online Development, Shipping Products, Shipping Information Systems and Information Technology, the new website provides customers a single, comprehensive dashboard solution they can use to track and manage incoming USPS-shipped packages. Using a simple, online interface, customers can take advantage of the following features: A customized, easy-to-use dashboard linked to the customer s usps.com profile. An automated view of package tracking information that loads and retains tracking data for packages headed to the user s registered address. Access within the portal to usps.com features that support package management, such as the Electronic Authorize Shipment Release service, Hold Mail and Create a Label. The ability to create alerts to obtain important package tracking data for inbound deliveries. With My USPS.com, customers will have a new tool to add to the increasing list of alternatives at their disposal to track and manage their incoming packages, said New Products and Innovation VP Gary Reblin. And in the future, we ll be adding more features to this important new tool.
