Submitting an Application for Membership Visit http://www.cfainstitute.org/about/membership/process/pages/index.aspx to submit an application for membership The new application process allows applicants to choose to apply for regular or affiliate membership. The application processes are now completely separate.

The Regular Membership Application Process Step # 1 Log in to CFA Institute account (or Create an Account) The applicant is brought to a summary screen showing: The total number of sections completed (all six steps must be completed in order to submit the application) A reminder that 48 months of work experience are required in order to submit a regular membership application A link to the work experience self-assessment tool Once the application has been started, an automated email is sent to applicant (see next page)

Regular Membership Application Process Step # 2 Complete/edit Personal Profile section Status bar the Personal Profile section is now in progress, shown by icon Step # 3 Complete/edit Address section Status bar the Personal Profile section is now completed, shown by icon, and the Address section is in progress

Regular Membership Application Process Step # 4 Complete Education section Step # 5 Complete/edit Work Experience section Applicants are directed to only submit qualifying work experience A running count of how many months (out of 48) of work experience have been submitted An end date is required for all positions, including the applicant s current position

Regular Membership Application Process Step # 5a Entering Work Experience details Work experience description character count tool Applicants will be required to attest that their work meets the work experience guidelines Step # 5b Work Experience summary screen after submitting position(s) There are now X of 48 months of work experience submitted The applicant s Work Experience attestation is shown as a check mark in the Qualifies Under Guidelines column 1

Regular Membership Application Process Step # 6 Select Society section A society is recommended based on the primary address provided in the Address section and natural society area Applicant may select the recommended society or search by name or country Step #6a Society Selection Confirmation

Regular Membership Application Process Step # 7 Reference section Three professional references are required unless the applicant has a reference from a regular member of their selected society, in which case two professional references are required Step # 7a Enter Reference contact information

Regular Membership Application Process Step # 7b Reference summary page Once the applicant saves the reference s name and email address, the option to Send Email is shown The status of the reference can be o Email Sent Reference request has been sent, but the reference has not been completed, or o Reference Completed The Reference has been submitted and the Re/Send Email option is no longer available The status of the Reference section will remain in progress until all references are received

Reference Process Email sent to Reference This email is sent to the reference when the applicant chooses Send Email during the reference process This email provides a link that takes the reference directly to the reference form Step # 1 Reference confirms whether or not they are a CFA Institute member If reference is not a CFA Institute member, they will immediately be taken to Step # 2

Reference Process Step # 1a If reference is a CFA Institute member, they will need to log in Step # 2 Reference confirms/enters their contact information If the Reference is a CFA Institute member, these fields will automatically populate If the Reference is not a CFA Institute member, they will need to enter their information

Reference Process Step # 3 Reference completes the reference form The Reference must select their Relationship to Applicant from a drop down menu The job duties field now contains a character counting tool Reference completed
