Hosting the very first Australian Grand Prix in 1928, Phillip Island also staged the first round of the World 500cc Motorcycle Championship in 1989. Sandown International Raceway VIC Sandown is arguably one of the best appointed motor-racing circuits in the world and opened in March 1962 with the staging of the Sandown International Cup. BMW Driver Training at Sandown is on hallowed ground. Jack Brabham (Chief BMW Driver Trainer Geoff Brabham s father), Bib Stillwell and Stirling Moss have all had success here. Eastern Creek International Raceway NSW Flowing through landscaped hills, Eastern Creek is a challenging 3.93km circuit built to international motorsport standards. Should you choose to accept the challenge, the record holder for the Super Touring class is Cameron McLean who clocked 1:33.8642 in a BMW 320i a decade ago. While Bruce Lynton recorded the fastest time for the 2001 3000cc production class in a BMW M3R, 1:44.3502. Queensland Raceway QLD Queensland Raceway at Ipswich was designed after extensive consultation with Australia s greatest motorsport heroes and the Confederation of Australian Motorsport. The track is 3.12km long and 12 metres wide with six corners, four gravel traps and four overtaking areas under brakes. Mallala Motorsport Park SA This is 2.6km of raceway that offers opportunities for some serious speed, sharp corners and tight braking. The fastest time for an Australian Performance Car in the 2-3 litre class was set in 2006 at 1:16.3. Barbagallo Raceway WA Located in Wanneroo, Barbagallo is Western Australia s premier motorsport facility. 2.41km of corners, straights and esses that will put your skills to the test.

It s never too early to master the skills 10 10 BMW Young Driver Training BMW Young Driver Training is an important new safety initiative created for young and relatively inexperienced drivers from 18 to 25, as well as novices who may have only recently qualified for their licence. The course teaches potentially life-saving skills and techniques, with the objective of creating more informed, capable and responsible drivers. Driving BMW 3 Series Sedans under the guidance of our highly qualified instructors, new drivers learn a range of car control skills and techniques in a programme that is comprehensive, informative and a lot of fun. BMW Young Driver Training is a valuable first step towards more advanced skills and competencies. Following graduation at this level, participants can progress directly to Advanced Training I. Dynamic Stability Control For greater safety and driving pleasure Dynamic Stability Control constantly monitors the behaviour of the chassis and wheels. When DSC detects traction loss it reduces power and applies precise brake pressure to individual wheels. Skidding is prevented before it occurs as, within milliseconds, your BMW is stabilised. As the BMW Instructors put you through challenging conditions on the Driver Training track, you will experience DSC in understeer and oversteer situations. It s all about the most critical aspect of driving avoiding an accident.
Driving your skills to the next level 12 12 Level 1 Advanced Training Courses Advanced Training I Advanced Training II Advanced Training can help reduce the risk of accidents, and therefore save lives. The programmes give participants the skills they need to avoid the most common and serious accident situations, all taking place in a safe and controlled environment. Depending on your existing level of driving skill, education and ability, BMW Driver Training has designed two entry-level courses for you to choose from. You may choose to start your training with either Advanced Training I or Advanced Training II without participating in any prior courses. For experienced drivers, Advanced Training I is the ideal starting point for safer, more confident car control. This one-day course covers key driving techniques, including braking and avoidance manoeuvres. It also takes an in-depth look at typical emergency or potentially dangerous driving scenarios and how to respond to them. The Advanced Training I course, with its fleet of dedicated BMW 325i Sedans, is an enjoyably hands-on learning experience ideally suited to most drivers. After Advanced Training I, if you wish to further develop your car control skills, Advanced Training II is the perfect follow-up. Advanced Training II is an exciting entry-level course designed to provide a foundation for performance driving. This one-day course, in both BMW 325i Sedans and high-performance BMW M3 Coupés, simulates a number of different situations that may be encountered at touring speeds. On-circuit activities include laps, ideal cornering lines, advanced braking techniques and timed competitions. The day concludes with an exhilarating hot lap in a BMW M3. After completing Advanced Training II, drivers can progress to the next level, Perfection Training. 50:50 Weight Distribution Near perfect 50:50 weight distribution between the front and rear axles ensures greater agility, neutral steering behaviour and outstanding traction. Every kilo of weight that can be reduced in a car represents a measurable increase in agility and safety. By adapting the vehicle s structure to optimise axle load little overhang at the front, engines and transmission located as far back as possible weight can be concentrated close to the vehicle s centre of gravity. As you corner your BMW 3 Series during Driver Training you will feel how a long wheelbase creates greater stability, while short overhangs mean that less of the car needs to be turned outside of the major pivot points, the front and rear wheels. All leading to a more controlled and dynamic drive.
