Interventional Radiology has further replaced conventional medical and surgical therapy as the new standard of care. Your Diagnostic Radiology Residency The Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at SingHealth is a rigorous five-year structured training program that will equip you with the knowledge, clinical skills and qualifications required to meet the challenges of a fast-paced, high-tech medical field. Wide exposure from diverse patient population The cornerstone of excellent training is exposure to a wide range of pathological conditions. With rotations in the hospitals of Singapore s largest public healthcare cluster, you will receive access to a high volume and broad spectrum of disease conditions, all spread across a diverse patient population. Learning excellence through theory and practice The comprehensive curriculum includes small-group tutorials, didactic lectures, supervised clinical Radiology reporting, team-based learning and regular knowledge assessments. Hands-on teaching in performing and protocoling various radiological and interventional examinations is a must. Our program provides you with many opportunities to interact with the Faculty, letting you experience all that Radiology has to offer. Purposeful mastery beyond technique SingHealth believes in the importance of personal and skills development outside of core knowledge. Your Career Prospects & Development After you complete your Residency, doctors who have been registered with the Specialist Accreditation Board will be eligible to apply for an Associate Consultant position and can continue advanced training in the subspecialty of interest. A Wealth of Research Opportunities Rigorous, challenging and rewarding, the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Clinician Scientist Program is a six-year structured training program. R1 to R4 is designed to equip Clinician Scientist Residents with the knowledge, clinical skills and qualifications of a Radiologist. Research training will begin in R5, after the Clinician Scientist Resident has completed the final FRCR exam. Dedicated research protected time will be given to Clinician Scientist Residents, allowing them to pursue their research activities and formal research education. Diagnostic Radiology Your Residency Curriculum The training curriculum includes a comprehensive mix of clinical and academic activities, with balanced exposure to each of the imaging subspecialties. We provide an enriching educational experience, complete with a high Faculty-Resident ratio and plenty of Resident supervision. You will take on graded responsibilities at each level of training, carefully aligned to your level of confidence and experience. Residency rotations will take place in the SingHealth institutions, namely Singapore General Hospital (SGH), KK Women s and Children s Hospital (KKH), National Neuroscience Institute (NNI) and National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) as well as at our major participating site, Changi General Hospital (CGH). Each institution is backed by state-of-the-art imaging equipment as well as Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). To kickstart your rigorous program, a transitional or housemanship year is required for the acquisition of skills and knowledge that will help you to appreciate the clinical aspects of disease.
