Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program

Radiology, both Diagnostic and Interventional, is a keystone of medical practice. Imaging routinely complements clinical evaluation and plays a part in the establishment of a working clinical diagnosis. From the Program Director I have learnt that the choice of specialty for your Residency training truly determines the rest of your life. It is an important decision that all of us at SingHealth Radiology Residency would like to help you with. As a Radiologist, I know that I am on to a good thing when other specialties show more than just keen interest in my discipline. Radiology, both Diagnostic and Interventional, is a keystone of medical practice. Imaging routinely complements clinical evaluation and plays a part in the establishment of a working clinical diagnosis. It allows us to monitor treatment and often documents the success or failure of management. Interventional Radiology has further replaced conventional medical and surgical therapy as the new standard of care. Assoc Prof Winston Lim Eng Hoe Program Director Diagnostic Radiology The SingHealth Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program draws on our rich legacy in medical education, as well as the extensive clinical resources of Singapore s largest public healthcare cluster. We provide much-needed support to major institutions and a diverse case-mix for broad-based training, as well as subspecialty education. Combining this fertile academic learning environment with a friendly, passionate, multi-institutional faculty, our program offers you the ultimate educational experience. Being a team player with a collegiate spirit, as well as having the energy and enthusiasm to delve into other branches of Radiologyrelated science are the qualities that will take you far in this field. We sincerely invite you to speak to us to find out more, and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Your Diagnostic Radiology Residency The Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at SingHealth is a rigorous five-year structured training program that will equip you with the knowledge, clinical skills and qualifications required to meet the challenges of a fast-paced, high-tech medical field. Wide exposure from diverse patient population The cornerstone of excellent training is exposure to a wide range of pathological conditions. With rotations in the hospitals of Singapore s largest public healthcare cluster, you will receive access to a high volume and broad spectrum of disease conditions, all spread across a diverse patient population. Learning excellence through theory and practice The comprehensive curriculum includes small-group tutorials, didactic lectures, supervised clinical Radiology reporting, team-based learning and regular knowledge assessments. Hands-on teaching in performing and protocoling various radiological and interventional examinations is a must. Our program provides you with many opportunities to interact with the Faculty, letting you experience all that Radiology has to offer. Purposeful mastery beyond technique SingHealth believes in the importance of personal and skills development outside of core knowledge. Do look forward to participating in short modules that will cover a range of diverse topics such as Professionalism and Ethics in Healthcare, Evidence-based Radiology, Research Techniques, Leadership in Radiology, Informatics in Radiology and Quality Improvement in Radiology. Award-winning Radiology Faculty We have an outstanding pool of award-winning Faculty, all of whom can share a wealth of experience in Radiology and medical education. They are highly committed to training the next generation of clinical Radiologists and have a proven track record in mentoring young Residents.

Your Career Prospects & Development After you complete your Residency, doctors who have been registered with the Specialist Accreditation Board will be eligible to apply for an Associate Consultant position and can continue advanced training in the subspecialty of interest. Current job prospects are good as there is a high demand of Radiologists in Singapore. Keep a look out for the opportunity to pursue tracks in Radiology Administration, Research, and Education. A Wealth of Research Opportunities Rigorous, challenging and rewarding, the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Clinician Scientist Program is a six-year structured training program. R1 to R4 is designed to equip Clinician Scientist Residents with the knowledge, clinical skills and qualifications of a Radiologist. Research training will begin in R5, after the Clinician Scientist Resident has completed the final FRCR exam. Dedicated research protected time will be given to Clinician Scientist Residents, allowing them to pursue their research activities and formal research education. The program gives you the freedom to explore your research interests and an edge in the rewarding world of research. So, why wait to pursue your research dreams? Speak to us now to get started.

The training curriculum includes a comprehensive mix of clinical and academic activities, with balanced exposure to each of the imaging subspecialties. Hear from our Residents SingHealth Diagnostic Radiology stands out clearly as the centre with the largest volume, breadth, variety and complexity of clinical cases.
