4 Global Clinical Observer Program Global Clinical Observer program, participants will receive a certificate of attendance confirming their participation. This program was developed for individuals interested in rotating through Cleveland Clinic as a stepping stone for securing U.S. residencies or fellowships. This four-week program is designed to provide a shadowing experience for international medical graduates (IMGs), who spend one week in each of four specialties: Cardiology Gastroenterology Pulmonary medicine Infectious diseases) The Global Clinical Observer Program is open to: Foreign medical graduates who have applied or intend to apply for a residency or fellowship in the United States and are ECFMG-certified. ECFMG certification is a requirement, and candidates must be able to submit proof of certification as part of their application material. International Nurse Scholar Program The International Nurse Scholar Program provides immersion in selected leadership and clinical areas involving didactic learning, interactive leadership opportunities, and a shadowing or immersion experience. The program is aimed at individuals who are already practicing in the field of nursing and who have a deep interest in expanding their knowledge. Program duration varies, depending on the participant s learning objectives and the expressed needs of their institution. International Nurse Scholar Program, participants will receive a certificate of attendance confirming their participation. International Preceptorship Program, participants will receive a certificate of attendance confirming their participation. International Preceptorship Program The International Preceptorship Program is designed to meet the specific clinical and administrative interests of the participating physician. Participants engage in one-on-one clinical and surgical observations, and shadow staff involved in departmental administrative functions. Meanwhile, they have the opportunity to examine the best practices and operational strengths of Cleveland Clinic. The duration of the International Preceptorship Program varies. Duration typically depends upon the candidate s learning objectives as well as the schedule of the confirmed participants. The International Preceptorship Program is open to: Fully trained international physicians and specialists with several years of medical practice, who may or may not hold administrative roles at their hospitals. Fully trained physicians with clear and specific learning objectives who may have a limited time frame in which to participate in an education program. Programs focus on knowledge acquisition and skill attainment at all levels and in all areas of nursing practice. Experiences are tailored to the participant s objectives and the needs of their institution. Possibilities include Diabetes Management, Skin Care and Pressure Ulcer Prevention, and The Turnbull School of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing. At the conclusion of this experience, the international nurse learner will be able to identify Cleveland Clinic Nursing Institute practices that can be applied to nursing internationally. Examples include: Analysis of technologies, and nursing interventions and procedures Examination of nursing concepts and components of care planning and delivery Identification of potential Quality Improvement projects Assessment of patient education programs A discussion process for orienting new nursing staff to the hospital Exploration of advanced nursing practice options
5 Physician-in-Training Programs At Cleveland Clinic, we recognize the importance of training future generations of physicians to provide the highest quality medical care. Training at Cleveland Clinic offers many advantages, including participation in cutting-edge research in the basic sciences, clinical medicine and biomedical engineering. Medical Student Elective Rotation Program In the Medical Student Elective Rotation Program, participants learn essential clinical and practical skills from U.S. specialists who are highly respected in their fields. Clinical electives are available to students who are in their final year of medical school. Participating students rotate with Cleveland Clinic faculty and residents through a variety of specialties areas. The Medical Student Elective Rotation Program is administered by Cleveland Clinic s Lerner College of Medicine. Residency and Fellowship Training Programs Cleveland Clinic sponsors one of the largest selections of graduate medical education programs in the United States. We offer a variety of accredited residency programs as well accredited and non-accredited fellowship opportunities. We have more than 880 trainees participating in 61 programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and in 100 advanced fellowship programs. Many of these programs are available to international physicians through a competitive selection process. 6 Administrative fellowship programs Administrative Fellowship Program The highly respected Administrative Fellowship Program is a 12-month, full-time program at Cleveland Clinic s main campus in Ohio. The program, established in 1977, offers valuable experience for healthcare administration professionals early in their careers. Administrative fellows are able to build a solid platform of leadership and project management skills within a large integrated health system. The program provides invaluable insight into the important physician-administrator dynamic and helps participants identify the key characteristics of success. The Administrative Fellowship Program is open to: Qualified applicants who hold a Masters degree (MBA, MHA, MHSA) or who have completed equivalent course work. Preferred applicants hold a Masters degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation Healthcare Management Education (CAHME). However, applications from non-cahme programs will be accepted for review. International Administrative Fellowship Program The Cleveland Clinic International Administrative Fellowship is a unique offering among hospital-based fellowship programs. Like the domestic Administrative Fellowship Program, the international fellowship is project-based, allowing the Fellow to build a solid platform of leadership and project management skills. Participants in this fellowship actively support Cleveland Clinic s efforts in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, while receiving support from hospital leaders in both Cleveland and Abu Dhabi, who dedicate time and resources for the development of the Fellow, both during the fellowship and after. Clinical Program Development and Quality Assurance Cleveland Clinic is also pleased to share its expertise through a variety of consulting opportunities. Our dedicated team of physicians, administrators, analysts, researchers and other staff members is able to work with your institution to review and assist with your project as needed.
