PRESENTATION OF WOT 2. Occupancy Tax ( in progress ) - Alex Kloszewski, Vice President of WOT In today s environment of competition, cities battle with each other for Business Conferences and the Tourist trade. This brings income and jobs to the city. Therefore a City must budget to spend in promoting itself to the home market and the outside world. Then when the client arrives in Warsaw, the city must direct the client to involve himself in activities which require him to spend money directly or indirectly. The City also has a responsibility to ensure as the client leaves Warsaw, he takes home a positive recommendation.

OCCUPANCY TAX/TOURISM TAX Occupancy Tax or Tourism Tax to be introduced to finance proper destination and city promotion acctivities: Key aim of the Warsaw Tourism Organization is to: 1. Draw attention to this matter to lobby for better regulations for cities who would like to introduce a local tax in order to promote a local tourism product: Get the interest of the Presidents of most Polish Cities and attract them to cooperate on this matter Attract Association of Polish Cities (Związek Miast Polskich) to join our efforts Persuade goverment to support the project

OCCUPANCY TAX/TOURISM TAX 2. Research and action: gather information on how this matter develops in particular Polish regions and cities. Find good examples of successful European Cities that have already introduced a local tax - as an examples of a good professional practice concerning this matter Find allies among members of the Sejm who would be able to press for proper changes re existing/future regulations to lobby for change the law via potentially simpler way - through additional appendix/interpretation. Organize a conference Poland Meetings Destination for all interested parties to discuss a proper solutions and actions to solve the problem.

Dzień dobry [jen dob-rih], Welcome to Warsaw and have a bite of this city of dynamic change. Taste pączek [pon-chek] first of the typical Polish pastries that we will cater to you each day and enjoy little facts about Warsaw served along. Spirit of Chopin Warsaw is a place where you can always hear the music of Frédéric Chopin a composer who learnt his craftsmanship in this city. You can take a walk same routes he used to take, listen to his music in the parks or even cross the street across the crosswalk looking like the piano keys. Palace of Culture and Science You can love it or hate it but you can t miss it! As a gift of the Soviet Union for the Polish nation it was placed in the heart of the city and used to be a meeting spot for communists. Today it is a center of culture, education, congresses and conferences. Business Hub The Warsaw Stock Exchange is one of Europe's most dynamic IPO markets with 383 companies. It also operates a modern trading system UTP the same as in New York, Paris and Brussels which moves it to the top league of stock markets.
