POSITION INFMATION Position Title Computer Science Instructor (Tenure-Track) Location Salary Initial salary placement is based on verified and accepted educational/work experience in accordance with the current City College of San Francisco Faculty Salary Schedule. The annual salary range upon entry is from $49,655.54 to $78,152.46 for 175 days of service or prorated for one semester or fewer days of service. New full-time faculty hires will have two additional service days, in their first year of service only, for the purpose of attending mandatory new faculty orientation. They will receive "independent flex credit" for such attendance, but no additional pay. Benefits In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the SFCCD and AFT Local 2121, fringe benefits include a choice of several health plans, plus $50,000 Group Life Insurance, Prescription Drug Plan, and Dental Care Plan. Such benefits are subject to change pursuant to agreement with the SFCCD and AFT Local 2121, or pursuant to other applicable law. Once again, voters of the great "City by the Bay" voted overwhelmingly for a property tax initiative that will provide additional funds ($14 million) annually between 2013 and 2021. The College is very proud of its accomplishments, providing nationally recognized programs, offering a comprehensive curriculum and support services, garnering numerous local, state, and national grants to provide open doors, open minds, and open arms to help transform students' lives. Through a revised participatory governance structure, all constituent groups have opportunity and a voice in college governance affairs. Student success continues to be at the forefront as CCSF undergoes major change to ensure its institutional effectiveness.

Examples of Duties: 1. Teach a variety of Computer Science courses selected from the following topics: programming languages such as Java, C++, C#, Swift, Perl, PHP, Ruby, and/or Python; database systems, Unix/Linux and Unix/Linux systems administration, mobile application programming, and game programming. 2. Evaluate student performance and progress through in-class observation, assignments, and tests and examinations. 3. Create lesson plans to reflect approved Departmental course outlines and descriptions. Examples of Duties 4. Participate in instructionally-related and departmental activities including, but not limited to staff meetings, committee work, faculty evaluation, curriculum development, selection of appropriate instructional materials, and revision of instructional and testing materials as required. 5. Perform duties associated with instructing students and assessing their progress in relation to identified student learning outcomes. 6. Participate in departmental and college wide functions such as assessment of student learning outcomes. 7. Teach day, evening, online, and/or Saturday classes or classes at one or more sites as required. 8. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Desirable Qualifications: 1. Earned degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution. 2. College or high school level teaching experience, preferably teaching college CS courses, online and/or face-to-face. 3. Two years of recent non-teaching professional full-time job experience as a programmer in Java, C++, C#, Visual Basic, Swift, Objective-C, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Python, Unity, and/or JavaScript. 4. Two years of recent non-teaching professional full-time job experience in Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and/or NoSQL/Big Data including database usage, programming, and/or administration. 5. Two years of recent non-teaching professional full-time job experience in Unix/Linux usage, programming, networking and/or administration. 6. Demonstrated experience and working knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Desirable Qualifications - Unix/Linux and Unix/Linux systems administration. - Networking and Web Server Administration on Unix/Linux systems, including Apache. - Programming in C++, Java, C#, Visual Basic, Swift, Objective-C, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Python, Unity, and/or JavaScript. - Database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and/or NoSQL/Big Data sources. - Web services, XML content creation and processing, data mining, data warehousing, informatics, data analytics, big data. - Mobile application programming, cloud computing, virtualization. - Software engineering practices including test-driven development, pair programming, scrum, software quality assurance, and Dev Ops / Build and Release Automation. 7. Industry related certificate in Red Hat Linux, Oracle OCA/OCP, or other relevant certification (If applicable, submit a photocopy of the certificate with the application package). 8. Demonstrated experience in developing new courses and programs at the college level. 9. Recent non-teaching professional job experience in some aspect of computer science, preferably two years of full-time experience or equivalent.
