TATERS Post- Baccalaureate Certification Application ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS 1. To QUALIFY for TATERS, you must meet the following admission requirements: A. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution with a minimum undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 2.50 B. A minimum grade point average of 3.0 in all education classes (if applicable) C. Acceptance to Boise State University. TATERS candidates usually apply for Non- degree seeking, Undergraduate Admission, Intended Degree Type: Certificate http://admissions.boisestate.edu/apply/ (The TATERS program will accept either undergraduate certificate seeking status or graduate status students. If you are unsure which application to use, please visit the BSU admissions website http://admissions.boisestate.edu/and the BSU Graduate College website http://www.boisestate.edu/gradcoll/ for more information) D. If you are not currently employed in a position that requires a fingerprint background check, you are required to complete the process as part of your application to the TATERS program. Please carefully read the following instructions. If you have any questions, please contact: Carrie Semmelroth, TATERS Project Coordinator, (208) 426-2818, carriesemmelroth@boisestate.edu 1. Call your local police station/law enforcement office to schedule an appointment to have your fingerprint card made. **This can also be completed at the Bureau of Criminal Identification in Meridian for a $5.00 fee (cash or check). You must call ahead for an appointment: 884-7159 or 884-7141.** 2. Once you have completed the fingerprinting process, please send your fingerprint card, and a $40.00 check or money order made to Idaho State Department of Education to: Shannon McCormick College of Education Office of Teacher Education 1910 University Drive Boise, ID 83725-1746 3. Once the Office of Teacher Education receives your fingerprint card and check/money order, your fingerprints will be processed through the state database. This process will take about two weeks. 4. To APPLY for TATERS, you must complete the following admission requirements and submit all paperwork by August 1, 2013: 1. Meet all of the eligibility requirements described on previous page (GPA, Acceptance to BSU, fingerprint background check) 2. Complete the TATERS Student Application form 3. Write a 1-2 page essay explaining why you would like to be a special educator 4. A copy of transcripts from all undergraduate/post- graduate schools attended (unofficial transcripts are acceptable) 5. A photocopy of your Bachelor s diploma 6. Verification of fingerprint background check or fingerprint exemption letter received (see previous page) 7. Two sets of letters of reference/evaluation forms addressing your qualities, attributes, and potential as a special educator. Letters of reference and evaluation forms must be CONFIDENTIAL and separate from the application packet submission.
