Failure to complete every item and to follow each instruction may delay processing of the application. Contact the RN-BSN Advisor & Enrollment Coordinator at the School of Nursing for any questions, [email protected] It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure all requested documents are submitted in a timely manner and that the applicant s file is complete. The School of Nursing application and all supporting documents must be received by the official deadlines. Applicants will not be considered for admittance to the School of Nursing until all required information has been returned and the applicant s file is complete. Such insurance is available through the University student health plan offered on campus or from private providers. Enrolled students are also encouraged to obtain flu immunization each year. ALL APPLICATION MATERIALS ARE TO BE SUBMITTED IN ONE COMPLETE PACKET Applicants should retain a copy of the application and all supporting materials since the School of Nursing is unable not return any of these materials. Applications are to be submitted only to the RN to BSN Cohort Advisor & Enrollment Coordinator and not to Jacksonville University Admissions Department. This is the only application needed. APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION Admission is open to qualified men and women of any race, color, religion, sexual ordination and national or ethnic origin. All RN to BSN applications/admission is processed through the School of Nursing. To be considered for admission, potential students must submit the following items: Official Transcripts from all universities and colleges attended and must be received in a sealed envelope. Applications are unable to be evaluated with any outstanding official transcripts. (High School transcripts are not needed) Submit application, a $30.00 application fee and all supporting materials to the School of Nursing by the appropriate deadline, including transcripts, recommendations and health immunization form. Have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA in non-nursing required courses. Students must either complete at JU or receive transfer credit for the BSN Core prior to admission to the RN-BSN Program. Prerequisites BSN core courses with less than a C (2.0) grade may be repeated once, and no more than two courses may be repeated. Proof of a completed Statistics course from a regionally accredited institution. Graduation from a state approved Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma nursing program.

2 Florida license to practice as a Registered Nursing. Current CPR/BCLS Certification. Current Driver s License or State Identification. RN Analytical Essay Two letters of recommendation A completed health care form. All students, whose first language is not English, must also take the TOEFL Examination and score either 540 on the paper-based exam or 207 on the computer-based exam. All nursing applications are handled by the School of Nursing and therefore applicants should not apply to the university itself nor send official transcripts to the university admissions department. The Admissions, Progression and Retention Committee and the Dean of the School of Nursing must approve any exceptions to the preceding requirements.

4 R N - B S N A n a l y t i c a l E s s a y I n s t r u c t i o n s TO THE APPLICANT: All new applicants to the Jacksonville University School of Nursing are required (as part of the admissions process) to write an analytical essay. The essay should follow a continuous paragraph format, be at least 100 words in length and doublespaced. Bullets should not be used. Essays are a critical requirement of the admissions process and are used to determine if the student can properly express their viewpoints in answer to a specific question. Essay Topics: Imagine you are at the end of your nursing career. Describe how having your BSN made a difference? Tips on writing your essay The analytical essay is a crucial part of the application process for the Jacksonville University s RN to BSN Program. You must put some time and effort into writing this essay, so do not put it off to the last moment as it will be a factor in your admissions. The essay needs to be a minimum of 100 words, double spaced, 12 point font, but no more than one typed page. Spelling and grammar are critical! For extra help in this area, go to the World Wide Web and search for sites that deal with essay writing. Think through what you are going to write and make preliminary notes. Answer the questions directly- don t wander off the subject. When you finish writing the essay, put it away for a day- then go back, read it again, and make necessary changes. Finally, the essay should be in your own words and not material from other sources.
