CORE COURSES ECONOMICS The course aims at helping participants to think like economists. To this end, participants will learn the main formulas, frameworks and tools commonly applied in the field of micro and macroeconomics. The topics covered are: demand and supply theory, market structure, production, cost and revenue analysis, inflation, unemployment, fiscal and monetary policy, international trade and finance, economic growth. ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND CREATIVITY The focus of this course is on understanding how entrepreneurs create economic and social value by tapping into opportunities. In addition, the course explores entrepreneurial approaches related to how managers act when confronted with complex problems and emerging opportunity situations. In that sense, entrepreneurs provide a useful model for all managers including those of multinational corporations. FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING The course provides the basic knowledge on the use of accounting and financial information systems for decision making. The module is based on International Accounting Standards (IAS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). DECISION MAKING AND QUANTITATIVE BUSINESS METHODS The course provides participants with mathematical formulae for the resolution of business problems. Although main mathematical theories and tools will be reviewed, the module has a predominantly practical scope; namely, to resolve management problems in mathematical terms. CORPORATE FINANCE The module instils the notion of capital budgeting in participants; namely, the analysis of cash flows, risk, and the financial aspects involved in project evaluations. MARKETING MANAGEMENT The module will equip participants with the analytical tools that will help them in the task of marketing decision-making. In addition, the course will enable participants to understand marketing as a managerial activity and its relationship with other management functions (operations, logistics, strategy, finance, etc.) STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT The course provides an introduction to the theory and practice of international strategic management, from strategic vision to actions. The course aims at familiarizing participants with the paradox of globalisation and localisation perspectives, an issue typical of European countries, characterized by a culturally, socially and politically complex market of vast proportions. HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT This course will provide participants with a good understanding of how HRM can be a strategic function present in almost all corporate strategy implementation plans. ELECTIVES FINANCE AREA INVESTMENT TECHNIQUES AND FINANCIAL MARKETS The module will review how decisions are made by institutional (banks, insurance companies, etc.) and individual investors (families). In this sense, tax, portfolio management and goal setting issues will be reviewed and further analysed by means of cases and exercises. MULTINATIONAL FINANCIAL MARKETS The course looks at how financial managers of multinationals handle the financing needs of their companies. In that sense, corporate policy objectives are scrutinized along with tools such as exchange rate management, IPOs, debt issuing, derivatives and so forth. MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS (M&A) The course explains the rationale behind M&A, risk control strategies and financing techniques. In addition, participants learn to assess the value of a transaction in a critical manner as well as the promises and pitfalls of M&As policies and practices in corporations. HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE AND CHANGE MANAGEMENT Through this course participants will understand the dynamic nature of modern organizations and the complex issue of change within them from the perspective of culture. Culture is arguably an element of strategic stability in organizations, yet one which can play a role as an engine towards corporate change if used properly. LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT The course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to deliver effective learning and development activities for one-to-one, small group and large group sessions. Participants will review adult learning principles and the learning cycle, with the main focus on the importance of creating and maintaining a positive learning environment and the knowledge and skills required for the actual delivery of an activity or session. INTERNAL COMMUNICATION Internal communication represents an essential strategic lever for the motivation and involvement of the members of any type of organisation. In effect, no plan and no organisational objective can be fully developed and reached if it is not understood and shared by the people who are tasked to implement it. The Internal Communication course is aimed at teaching the most advanced theoreticalmethodological approaches and operational practices, including the illustration of international best practices on how to communicate effectively with employees. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND BUSINESS ETHICS Participants will be introduced to a cutting edge, easy to understand approach to sustainability and leadership, which presents multiple perspectives and key ideas from the areas of psychology, philosophy, sociology and cultural studies. Participants will also explore the vertical dimension and the evolution of value systems and stages of human development and understand the various drivers, governance and leadership styles that influence individuals, organizations and societies. INTERNATIONAL TRADE The module looks at the various Preferential Trade Agreement types and other trade instruments used to increase or curb trade. Participants will learn to assess the economic and social values of different trade policies as well as the main trade theories to help explain phenomena like price discrimination, factor price equalization, etc. MARKETING SERVICE MARKETING The ultimate objective of the module is to introduce participants to the strategies and techniques of marketing services to customers and prospects. Distance Learning This option is ideal for all those who wish to organize their study time with the maximum flexibility and the guarantee of a true learning progress. You will be provided with: The text books The presentations and the multimedia materials The exercises related to each learning module A personal tutor for each course The teacher s corrections and suggestions Regular web conferences for amplifications and clarifications together with the other attendees. Once enrolled, you will receive the paper materials, the credentials to access the online learning materials and you will be assigned your personal tutor. You will agree your work plan with your tutor, who will assign and check your exercises and your final project/exam. You will be able to attend regular web conferences (on average one every two weeks) from the comfort of your home or the location of your choice, with the same learning effectiveness of the on-campus lectures.
