A FEW WORDS ON DUTCH HE Binary system: Research Universities: 3 year Bachelors, 1 or 2 year masters, year PhD s Open access through 6 year high school system VWO 11 institutions, represented through National Association of Universities VSNU Universities of Applied Science year Bachelors, a few non-funded masters Open access (except for arts) through 5 year high school system HAVO Some 0 institutions, loosely connected in HBO Raad Public funding and fixed tuition fees. Private HE is still very marginal 2
