PROJECT FOUNDATION Oracle Fusion Project Foundation includes common components that are shared across products within Oracle Project Portfolio Management cloud. It includes the basic project plan structure and components such as resource breakdown structures, rate schedules, pricing, burdening, and cross-charge processing. SIMPLIFIED REFERENCE ROLE MODEL Simplified role definitions for security reference implementation make security role administration and customization easier. Roles were simplified to achieve these objectives: Have roles only when multiple jobs share a common set of 5 or more related privileges. Use the same job roles and abstract roles as release 9. Use the set of privileges for each job and abstract role as release 9. Reduce the number of levels between a job and its privileges. The following are examples of role simplification for the Project Execution Management and Project Financial Management offerings. In Project Execution Management release 9, the Resource Manager job role had one duty called Project Resource Management Duty. This duty had privileges that allowed the resource manager to perform tasks such as managing project resource requests, assigning and managing project resource assignments, monitoring the utilization of resources and resource pools, and reviewing analytics. With role simplification, all privileges of the Project Resource Management Duty are now directly assigned to the Resource Manager job role and the duty is removed. In Project Financial Management release 9, various privileges for setup tasks were organized by productbased duty roles such as the Project Costing Administration Duty, Project Foundation Billing Administration Duty, and Project Foundation Costing Administration Duty. After role simplification, these administrative duty roles are consolidated into the Project Financial Application Administration Duty. In addition, this new administration duty maps directly to the configuration offering. STEPS TO ENABLE Execute the steps in the Migrating to the Simplified Reference Role Model section of the Upgrade Guide for Oracle Cloud Applications Security white paper. TIPS AND CONSIDERATIONS The upgrade is not applied to customized roles to ensure that authorizations in your environment do not change. KEY RESOURCES Upgrade Guide for Oracle Cloud Applications Security white paper. Security Reference Manual (Release 10).. 7

Release Training for Oracle Fusion Applications Release 10 related to role simplification. Oracle Fusion Applications Security reports that are available from the Applications Security Console. TRACK PROJECT NUMBER IN THE CHART OF ACCOUNTS You can add a project segment in your chart of accounts using the table-validated value set Project Number for Chart of Accounts. You don t need to create and maintain an independent value set because the project number is selected directly from the project tables. The screen capture below shows the definition of the table-validated value set.. 8

STEPS TO ENABLE This feature is enabled by default. TIPS AND CONSIDERATIONS KEY RESOURCES Using table-validated value sets in your chart of accounts prevents you from utilizing the full chart of accounts functionality, such as data security, reporting, and account hierarchy integration. Project information may be too detailed to track in the general ledger. When defining the chart of accounts, consider using alternatives such supporting references for project information. PROJECT COSTING Oracle Fusion Project Costing captures commitments and costs from across the Fusion applications as well as supporting third-party integrations. The unique cost collection and processing needs of different sources are streamlined to provide timely insight into validated project costs. ANALYZE CAPITAL ASSETS USING ORACLE TRANSACTIONAL BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE Project accountants can use the Project Costing - Assets Real Time subject area in Oracle Transaction Business Intelligence to review and analyze capital projects. Use the subject area to: Identify possible exceptions by comparing expensed and capitalizable costs. Review asset details and see how the assets are assigned to project and tasks. Track capitalizable costs as they are grouped into asset lines, assigned to assets, transferred to Oracle Fusion Assets, and capitalized. Analyze amounts charged to construction-in-progress accounts and drill down to the project, task, asset line, expenditure item, and cost distribution line details. The following screen capture illustrates the Project Costing - Assets Real Time subject area: Project Costing - Assets Real Time Subject Area. 10

Project accountants can use these sample reports to assist in creating their own custom reports: STEPS TO ENABLE Uncapitalized Cost for Capitalizable Tasks: Review charges that are expensed for capitalizable tasks to ensure that costs are classified correctly and that expenses charged to the task are appropriate. Capital Assets: Review the assets created for a project. For example, the project accountant may need to ensure that all assets are defined and that the asset attributes are correct. Capital Asset Assignments: Review how capitalized costs for a project are collected and capitalized. Capital Asset Lines: Perform detailed analysis to determine which expenditure items and cost distribution lines are allocated and assigned to an asset in a given period. Capital Expenditures: View and understand where expenditures are in the capitalization process. This information helps identify activities that must be performed or issues that must be addressed. This feature is enabled by default. TIPS AND CONSIDERATIONS KEY RESOURCES You can find the reports in the catalog: Shared Folders > Projects > Project Financials Sample Reports. The data in Oracle Transaction Business Intelligence is secured by business unit. You must have the Project Accountant role for the selected business unit to access the asset information. PROJECT BILLING Oracle Fusion Project Billing enables organizations to bill and recognize revenue from their contract customers in an efficient and accurate manner. Invoices are generated automatically based on the specified billing cycle and project managers can quickly review their respective project invoices and approve them over e-mail. Both revenue and invoice amounts are calculated accurately using bill rates specified on the contract. Native integration with Oracle Fusion Financials allows for greater control over revenue accounting and unbilled receivables. ANALYZE BILLED AND UNBILLED PROJECT COST BY CONTRACT USING ORACLE TRANSACTIONAL BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE Enterprise contract information is now added as a dimension to the Project Costing - Actual Cost Real Time subject area to provide the ability to join the Project Costing and Billing Real Time subject areas. This feature enables you to build reports to: Monitor billable project cost that was not billed, or, had revenue recognized for it. Analyze expenditure items and billing events that are billed. Analyze contract funding limits by reviewing unbilled billable cost. Review margin by comparing revenue against cost for a particular project task.. 12

The following screen capture illustrates the Project Costing - Actual Cost Real Time subject area. Project Costing - Actual Cost Real Time Subject Area STEPS TO ENABLE This feature is enabled by default. TIPS AND CONSIDERATIONS The data in Project Costing - Actual Cost Real Time subject area in Oracle Transaction Business Intelligence is secured by business unit. You must have the Project Accountant role for the selected business unit to access the cost and contract information. KEY RESOURCES Release Training for Oracle Fusion Applications Release 10.. 13

PROJECT MANAGEMENT Oracle Fusion Project Management extends project planning, management, and scheduling capabilities to all individuals within the enterprise who are required to manage project-based work. Project managers can engage with team members to develop tasks, resolve issues, report progress, and monitor the status of the project to ensure that objectives are realized. INTEGRATE PROJECT AND TEAM MEMBER EVENTS USING A WEB SERVICE Integrate project and team member events that are tracked in other applications with Project Execution Management applications. Use web services to create, update, delete, and view project-specific events or nonproject calendar events such as training and paid time off. For example, if resources enter their upcoming absences in a third-party application, then you can use the services to transfer the absence information to Oracle Fusion Project Management. Project managers can see upcoming team member events on the project calendar. These resource events also reduce the available capacity for the resources to fulfill future project assignments and appear in the schedule view when resource managers search for and evaluate resources. The Project and Resource Calendar Event service has the following operations: 1. createcalendarevent: Use this operation to create project or resource calendar events. 2. readcalendarevent: Use this operation to read project or resource calendar event information. 3. deletecalendarevent: Use this operation to delete a project or resource calendar event information. 4. updatecalendarevent: Use this operation to update project or resource calendar events.
