2003 OLDSMOBILE BRAVADA REPRESENTS LUXURY IN A MIDSIZE SUV Designed to deliver car-like performance and handling, maximum comfort, versatility, and cargo capacity in a stylish, distinctive package, the 2003 Bravada answers consumer demands for luxury in a midsize SUV. The Bravada, part of GM s family of midsize SUVs, has been created specifically for the evolving desires of customers who want more luxury, performance and driving refinement in a sport utility vehicle. And with more than 90 percent of customers using their midsize SUVs exclusively for on-road use, the Bravada is crafted primarily as a luxury touring vehicle rather than an off-road adventurer. New for 2003, Bravada adds a DVD passenger entertainment system (mid 2002), standard traction assist on the two-wheel drive model, and an exterior color, Light Silver Green, plus it makes coil suspension available on the all-wheel drive model. With a sophisticated exterior design, a Vortec 4200 four-valves-per-cylinder inlinesix engine, superior handling and suspension, and a new DVD entertainment system, the 2003 Bravada represents a perfect balance of power and comfort, said John Gatt, Bravada marketing director. Inline Vortec power The 2003 Bravada continues to offer the 4.2L dual overhead camshaft inline six-cylinder engine. The all-aluminum engine, which delivers 275 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque, accelerates quickly and smoothly. The engine uses variable valve timing, which includes an exhaust cam phaser that allows changes in exhaust valve timing up to 25 degrees. The result is more linear delivery of torque, high, specific engine output and reduced exhaust emissions. Torque is available across a wide band 275 lb-ft of torque with 90 percent available between 1600 and 5600 rpm. Additionally, despite a high compression ratio of 10.1:1, there is no fuel economy penalty and regular unleaded fuel is still recommended. Fuel economy estimates are 15 mpg city/21 mpg highway for the all-wheel-drive model and 16 mpg city/22 mpg highway for the two-wheel-drive model. all-aluminum construction The engine s all-aluminum construction contributes to overall weight savings, and both the block and cylinder head use lost-foam casting techniques. This process allows passages and other features to be cast directly into the block, resulting in less machining and substantial benefits in overall quality. Suspension offers luxurious driving comfort As in 2002, the chassis features rack-and-pinion steering for decreased turning radius, a short/long arm front suspension and an exclusive air bladder rear PRODUCT INFORMATION 2
suspension that offers superior driving comfort and distinguishes it from the competition. A 24mm solid rear stabilizer bar contributes to improved handling. Bravada offers a two-wheel-drive version, making the vehicle more appealing to those in warm weather climates. For those who select the all-wheel-drive version, Bravada retains the exclusivity of on-demand SmartTrak all-wheel drive. smooth ride Hydroformed side rails, coupled with eight structural cross-members, increase torsional rigidity by 260 percent. A five-link rear suspension eliminates the heavy rear leaf springs normally used in truck chassis design. Two different suspensions are now available on the Bravada all-wheel-drive model. Consumers can order the standard coil suspension or opt for the air suspension found on the two-wheel-drive model. Two air bladders made of heavy rubber replace the metal coil springs. Road inputs are constantly monitored and the air bladders automatically inflate and deflate independently for improved ride and handling. All this means the Bravada performs with the character of a sport sedan. DVD-based entertainment system State-of-the-art entertainment systems are no longer limited to the home. The 2003 Bravada offers DVD players for those who want to have a little entertainment on the road. The DVD player, which debuted in mid 2002, brings in-vehicle entertainment to a new level, allowing passengers to enjoy the same digital image quality and versatility featured in state-of-theart home entertainment systems. The system includes a fold-down 7-inch monitor integrated into the ceiling, providing great picture quality for rear-seat passengers. includes headphones The system allows rear-seat passengers to watch movies, play video games or listen to audio CDs. Cordless headphones are included with the system. Other passengers can listen to the radio or CDs of their choice, while those in the back watch and listen to DVDs. # # # Contacts: Oldsmobile Communications Gus Buenz Phone: 313-667-2634 Fax: 313-667-9618 Email: gus.r.buenz@gm.com Press material (kits) EPI Phone: 866-464-6777 E-mail: gmpress@epiinc.com PRODUCT INFORMATION 3
