Introduction Hitachi Cloud Service for Content Archiving is an enterprise-level public and enterprise-to-cloud data storage solution offered by (HDS). HDS maintains your data remotely and securely using our hardware, software, and personnel, while you retain easy access to your data, regardless of location. HDS fully-managed cloud services include steps to: Provide an object storage solution that enables you to store, share, protect, preserve, analyze and retrieve file data from an enterprise-level cloud platform Move content from primary stores on-site into off-site cloud storage Store copies of files remotely in a secure facility, reducing backup Monitor consumption and availability Allow versioning on cloud-stored files The following figure illustrates the seamless integration of Hitachi Cloud Service for Content Archiving with three of the most common types of cloud on-ramps. Figure 1. Cloud On-Ramp Examples. Hitachi Cloud Service On-Ramps Guide for Rocket Arkivio Autostor Page 1

Although the process for configuring these on-ramps is generally straightforward, it is different for each type of archiving application. This guide covers several of the more common on-ramp applications likely to make use of the Hitachi cloud service. Note: The use of the generic term cloud service in this guide is intended for brevity and convenience. In this context, it refers only to the Hitachi Cloud Service for Content Archiving and not to any other products or services. Overview Note: The instructions in this on-ramp guide for using the Hitachi cloud service with Arkivio Autostor are applicable to certain versions of Autostor. If using version 6.2, you will need to have installed hotfix 51612 and to contact Arkivio support for a special compatibility fix. In Autostor version 6.2.2, support will be complete and require no additional hotfixes. Existing local file systems may have many large files that are accessed infrequently. These are good candidates for migration to the cloud. We refer to the creation and configuration of these cloud migration paths, which differ depending on the source system or architecture, as onramps. Contacting Support The customer support staff is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you need technical support, log on to the Portal for contact information: https://portal.hds.com. Note: The cloud service subscription management interface has a tab labeled Help & Support that goes directly to the HDS support website. Accessing the Cloud Service Through On-Ramps Accessing a provisioned namespace and using a directory within it for data archiving is simple. The information you will need includes: The location, which is often a constructed URL The login name and password for one of that namespace s authorized data users Additional details you will need to know include: The tenant name for the cloud service subscription The namespace name The name of the archive destination directory in the namespace The content location for your cloud service subscription, which will vary depending on which Hitachi datacenter you chose to host your account You can use the cloud service tenant management console to collect the information for any given namespace. Access the tenant management console using the URL that was given to you by HDS Sales and Support. Note: In initial releases of the cloud service, the tenant management console URL will be either: Western U.S.: https://mc-us-az1.cloud.hds.com/console Hitachi Cloud Service On-Ramps Guide for Rocket Arkivio Autostor Page 2

Eastern U.S.: https://mc-us-nj1.cloud.hds.com/console Constructing the Namespace URL Access Point The namespace URL consists of specifying the namespace, tenant and content location, and the datacenter where the cloud service subscription is hosted. Taking the last part first, the datacenter is specified as one of the following: content.us-az1.cloud.hds.com/rest content.us-nj1.cloud.hds.com/rest The designations us-az1 or us-nj1 indicate which HDS datacenter is hosting the stored data. Other datacenters will have different location identifiers. Note: As additional Hitachi data centers are made available, new content location URLs will become available for each one. The first part of the URL specifies the namespace, tenant, and content. In addition, these are SSL encrypted connections, so the prefix https:// is always used. Therefore, a complete URL looks like this: https://<namespace>.<tenant>.content.<datacenter-location>.cloud.hds.com/rest For example, with a tenant named BindersBooks, a namespace named sjalpha1, and using the HDS New Jersey datacenter, the URL would be: https://sjalpha1.bindersbooks.content.us-nj1.cloud.hds.com/rest Note: Arkivio Autostor does not use the /rest directory suffix when configuring access to a content archive namespace. The data access user credentials for accessing a particular would be: Username for the data access user The data access user s password Note: With a replicated site cloud service subscription, in general you should direct your on-ramp requests to your primary hosted site. If there is any problem accessing the primary site, the cloud service automatically retrieves data from the secondary replication site instead. For more information, see the Hitachi Cloud Service for Content Archiving User s Guide and Hitachi Cloud Service for Content Archiving Using a Namespace. Accessing a Replicated Namespace on the Secondary Datacenter If you have a replicated cloud service subscription, normally you will always want to access your namespaces using the credentials and constructed URL that go to your primary datacenter. (The primary datacenter is selected during the subscription selection process.) However, it is possible to access your data directly from the secondary datacenter in read-only mode using those same user/password credentials and a slightly modified namespace URL. This is possible because not only is your data replicated, so are all the other details of your subscription, including configured namespaces and authorized data users. Hitachi Cloud Service On-Ramps Guide for Rocket Arkivio Autostor Page 3

For example, if https://namespace.tenant.content.us-nj1.cloud.hds.com/rest is the primary site, this allows full read-write access. If you were to use the URL https://namespace.tenant.content.us-az1.cloud.hds.com/rest, since this is the secondary replicated site, this allows read-only access. Configuring Rocket Arkivio Autostor About Arkivio Autostor Rocket Arkivio Autostor is designed to automate the discovery of information about storage resources and data usage patterns for resources designated as remote managed storage. The collected information is then stored in a central metadata repository that is accessible for resource reporting, policy configuration, and monitoring from a web-based management console. You can use the collected information to classify and prioritize similar resources together to monitor and manage them as a group. After classifying and prioritizing resources, you define policies for different resource groups based on their stages in the data lifecycle. You can then simulate the policies to measure their effectiveness before deployment. After the policies are deployed, the Policy-based Automation Engine (PAE) controls automated data migration, movement, copy, or clean-up based on the defined policies. On an ongoing basis, Autostor continuously monitors data and storage resource utilization for remote managed storage so that you can view detailed reports about current utilization, trends, and results of implemented policies. This way, you can modify existing policies as needed to continually improve efficiency. Arkivio Autostor includes the following components: Arkivio Central Server (ACS): The ACS software resides on a dedicated Windows Server 2008 R2 system and is the control center for all data collection, monitoring, and policy-based management. The ACS includes a Policy Automation Engine (PAE), a metadata repository, intelligent data movers, monitoring, reporting, and web-based management interface components. Additionally, the ACS is capable of remotely monitoring and managing storage resources without requiring you to install software agents on each resource. Remote Server Assistants (RSAs): RSA software is installed on a dedicated Windows Server 2008 R2 system that remotely manages multiple server and storage resources and acts as an extension of the ACS. In addition to providing management without having to install software on each resource, the RSA provides scalability for managing resources within large enterprise environments by off-loading processing from the ACS. Multiple RSAs can be deployed using an automated push-install technology to dedicated management servers. Windows Tag Migrate Assistant (WTA): WTA is installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 system that is managed by a RSA. The single function of the WTA is to tag and recall files from the Windows 2008 system to any managed target platform. The WTA is deployed using the same push-install technology used for deploying RSAs. Configuring the Server List to Include Cloud Service and Source Servers From the main screen, select Global Administration > Deployment > Server List. The Server List screen is displayed. Figure 2. Arkivio Autostor Server List. For each server, click the new icon (+), enter the required information in the Add Server screen, and click Save. The Hitachi cloud service should be defined as an HDS HCP system. The server name comprises the path described in the Constructing The Namespace URL Access Point section of this document. The user name and password are the configured user and associated password for the namespace. Note: The namespace user should be configured to have full access roles for its associated namespace. This can be done using the cloud service tenant management console. Note: For connectivity from Autostor to the Hitachi cloud service when using a network firewall, be sure to configure the firewall to allow outbound traffic through port 443 (HTTPS). If you are unsure about any of these configuration details, you can use the cloud service tenant management console to collect the information, or if necessary configure the required namespace and namespace user. Note: In initial releases of the Hitachi cloud service, the tenant management console URL will be either: Western U.S.: https://mc-us-az1.cloud.hds.com/console Eastern U.S.: https://mc-us-nj1.cloud.hds.com/console Note: For Arkivio Autostor, the /rest path should not be specified in the URL.
