Download and Use the LockDown Browser to Take a Quiz on D2L You will know the quiz you are about to take on D2L requires you to use the Respondus LockDown Browser if there is a note in red on the quiz page telling you Note: To take this quiz you must use the Respondus LockDown Browser. Download the LockDown Browser Use the LockDown Browser to Take a Quiz on D2L Note: You can click on the titles above in order to jump to those specific directions in this document.

Download the LockDown Browser Return to Top 1. If you are on an ESU computer in one of the campus computer labs, then there is a good chance the Respondus LockDown Browser is on the computer. You can check to see if the computer has the LockDown Browser on it by clicking on the icon for the Start Menu. If you are on your own computer and do not have the LockDown Browser, then click here to jump further down in this document to see how to download it on your computer. Click on the Start Menu icon

2. Then in the search bar type in lockdown. Type lockdown in the search bar 3. If the computer you are on has LockDown on it, then a program titled LockDown Browser Lab will appear under Programs. This will probably be the only thing that appears when you type lockdown into the search bar if LockDown is on the computer.

If LockDown is on the computer, a program titled LockDown Browser Lab should appear. 4. To use the LockDown Browser to take a quiz click on LockDown Browser Tab. Click on LockDown Browser Tab to use the LockDown Browser to take a quiz on D2L

5. If the program titled LockDown Browser Lab does not appear under Programs then the LockDown Browser is not on the computer you are on. If you are on an ESU computer then chances are you will not be able to download the Respondus LockDown Browser because you will not have the rights to do so. If this is the case you can go to a computer lab on campus that does have the LockDown Browser. There is a PDF file on the ESU Center for Teaching with Technology Student Support page that lists which computer labs have the LockDown Browser. Click here to get to the Student Support page. If you are on your own computer, then continue to the next step to see how to download the LockDown Browser onto your computer. 6. On the quiz page below Note: To take this quiz you must use the Respondus LockDown Browser there should be a link that says [Download Respondus LockDown Browser]. Click on this link to download the LockDown Browser. Click on [Download Respondus LockDown Browser] 7. The window below will open. To understand LockDown better and why schools use it then watch the short video under Before You Install. When you are ready to download and install the LockDown Browser click on Install Now.

Watch this video to learn more about LockDown Click on Install Now when you are ready to download and install LockDown 8. After you click on Install Now the window will look like the one below. There will be a question at the bottom of the window asking if you want to run or save LockDown, click on Run. Please note that your window may look different depending on what Internet Browser you are using and how up to date or out of date your browser is. These steps also may vary slightly for you depending on your plug-in and pop up settings. Click on Run

9. Another window will appear prompting you to select a setup language for the Respondus LockDown Browser. Choose the setup language you want then click on Next. 1. Select a setup language 2. Click on Next 10. A License Agreement window will appear. Read over the agreement. To finish the download select I accept the terms of the license agreement and click on Next.

12. When the Respondus LockDown Browser is fully installed the window below will appear. Click on Finish. Click on Finish 13. The Respondus LockDown Browser should now be in your start applications and on your desktop. The Respondus LockDown Browser desktop icon and start applications icon will look like the ones below. Desktop icon Start applications icon 14. See the steps below to learn how to take a quiz on D2L using the Respondus LockDown Browser.

Use the LockDown Browser to Take a Quiz on D2L Return to Top 1. To use the Respondus LockDown Browser to take a quiz on D2L you will click on the Respondus LockDown Browser in your start applications or double click on its icon on the desktop. This will open the LockDown Browser, which will prompt you to login to D2L through the LockDown Browser. When you open the LockDown Browser the window below will appear. Notice you are prompted to login to D2L through the LockDown Browser 2. Login to D2L through the LockDown Browser. You will be brought to your usual D2L homepage. Click on the course you will be taking the quiz in.

Click on the course you will be taking the quiz in 3. You will be brought to your course homepage. To get to your quiz click on the Assessments dropdown menu and then click on Quizzes.

2. Click on Quizzes 1. Click on the Assessments dropdown menu 4. This will bring you to the Quiz List page where all of your course quizzes will be listed. Select the quiz you need to take. Select the quiz you need to take 5. Next you will be brought to the Quiz summary page. This will outline the details of the quiz you are about to take. Make sure to read and review this page before you begin the quiz. When you are ready to start the quiz click on Start Quiz! which is in the bottom left hand corner of the page.

At this point, taking a D2L quiz in the Respondus LockDown Browser is just like taking a D2L quiz in any other Internet browser like Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer. There is a written tutorial on how to take a quiz in D2L on the Center for Teaching with Technology Student Support Page of the ESU website. Click here to access the Center for Teaching with Technology Student Support Page if you would like to view the written tutorial on taking a quiz in D2L. At this point, your quiz has started and it will be just like taking a D2L quiz in any other Internet browser

7. When you are done with the quiz and ready to submit your answers click on Save All Responses and then click on Go to Submit Quiz. 1. Click on Save All Responses 2. Click on Go to Submit Quiz 8. You will be asked to confirm that you want to submit your quiz. Click on Submit Quiz to submit your quiz for grading. Click on Submit Quiz to submit your quiz for grading 9. A confirmation prompt will appear. Click on Yes, submit quiz if you are done with the quiz and what to submit it for grading. Click on No, don t submit quiz if you are not done with the quiz and want to continue to work on your answers.

Click on Yes, submit quiz to submit your quiz for grading. Click on No, don t submit quiz to keep working on your answers 10. Once you click on Yes, submit quiz a Quiz Submissions page will come up. This page will vary depending on how your professor has it setup. Below is an example Quiz Submissions page. In this example, the professor has it setup to give you feedback and show which questions you got correct, which questions you answered incorrectly, and which questions have not been graded yet.

11. When you are done reviewing the Quiz Submissions page click on Close, which is in the bottom left hand corner of the page. 12. Depending on how your professor has the quiz setup you may come to a second Quiz Submissions page like the one below. 13. When you are done reviewing your Quiz submissions pages you can logout of D2L and exit the Respondus LockDown Browser. First Click on the dropdown menu by your name in the top right hand corner of D2L and then click on Log Out.

To exit the Respondus LockDown Browser click on the red X in the top right hand corner of the browser, like you would exit Firefox or Internet Explorer. Then a Locked Browser prompt will appear asking if you are sure you want to exit. Click on Yes to exit the LockDown Browser. Click on No to stay in the LockDown Browser.
