Audio and Video PowerPoint Open Microsoft PowerPoint Audio and Video PowerPoint - 1

Click on the "Insert" tab Audio and Video PowerPoint - 2

Click on the "Video" tab Audio and Video PowerPoint - 3

We will be working with two selections: 1. "Video from File..." This option allows you to insert videos that exist on your hard drive (you computer). 2. "Video from Web Site..." This option allows you to insert videos from the internet. 3. "Clip Art Video..." This is a list of videos that comes with the PowerPoint program. They are repeating or one time animations with different themes. Audio and Video PowerPoint - 4

Click on the "Video from File..." tab 1. Find the video you want to insert within your computer's files. (Note: Your video files may be saved in a different location.) 2. Select the video file you want to insert. 3. Click "Insert" or double-click on your video file. Note: PowerPoint does not work with ALL file types. To find out what video format works with PowerPoint click on this link: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/powerpoint-help/compatible-multimedia-file-formats-ha001230325 Audio and Video PowerPoint - 5

Options for your inserted video 1. You can customize the style of your video with these options. (change colors, boarders etc.) 2. Notice that these options are all under the "Format" tab. (Note: To insert another video file just click on the "Insert" tab to the left of the "Format" tab) 3. You can adjust the size and location of the screen on your slide using the edge navigators. 4. Be sure to check and make sure your video works in the full presentation mode of PowerPoint. To do this click on the "Slide Show" tab and then click on "From Current Slide" tab. Click on the play button and make sure you get both audio and video functionality. Audio and Video PowerPoint - 6

Option 2 from video tab: Click on the "Video from Web Site..." tab You can create a new slide or just a new PowerPoint project for this next video option. Audio and Video PowerPoint - 7

Please Note: The "embed" option was actually done in option 1 of the video tab "Video from File..." When we copy and paste an embedded code from a video's website we are actually creating a link to the video. Audio and Video PowerPoint - 8

Find the video's website you wish to use. Note: Each website is different. Finding the embed code may not always be as easy or even possible. Audio and Video PowerPoint - 9

Find the Embed code on YouTube Click on the "Share" tab Audio and Video PowerPoint - 10

Click on the "Embed" tab Audio and Video PowerPoint - 11

Options for your Embed code 1. Select the size you want your video to appear. 2. Click in the box for "Use old embeded code". Audio and Video PowerPoint - 12

Notice that your code changes automatically when you change the different settings below. Audio and Video PowerPoint - 13

Highlight and Copy the embed code by clicking inside the embed code box on YouTube, right click on your mouse and select "Copy" or use the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl c) to copy. Audio and Video PowerPoint - 14

Go back to your PowerPoint project. Paste the embed code from your website into the "Insert Video From Web Site" box by right clicking and selecting the "Paste" tab or using the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl p). Audio and Video PowerPoint - 15

Click on the "Insert" tab to insert the video into your slide. Audio and Video PowerPoint - 16

Your video from the internet is now embedded in your presentation. Note 1: With embedded videos you have similar options to edit and change how your video looks in the presentation. Note 2: Even though we used the "embed" code to insert this video into our PowerPoint presentation, the video will not work unless the computer you are using in your presentation is connected to the internet. It will find the link and play your video from that link. Be sure to check that your embedded video's image and audio are working BEFORE you give your class or presentation. To test out your video click on the "Slide Show" tab and then click on the "From Current Slide" tab. Audio and Video PowerPoint - 17

Secondary option to "Video from Web Site..." tab If you can't find a videos embed code you can always use the URL link and post that into your PowerPoint slide. First highlight and copy the URL link on the website you want to link to your PowerPoint slide. Right click on your mouse and select "Copy" or use the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl c) to copy. Audio and Video PowerPoint - 18

Go to your PowerPoint and paste the URL link to your slide by right clicking and selecting the "Paste" tab or using the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl p). Audio and Video PowerPoint - 19

To make the copied URL link function, right click on the copied text and select the "Hyperlink" tab. Audio and Video PowerPoint - 20

"Insert Hyperlink" Box 1. Re-paste the URL link into the "Address" box by right clicking in the empty address box and selecting the "Paste" tab. 2. You can change the text that is displayed on your slide by typing in what you would like it to say in the "Text to display" empty box. Audio and Video PowerPoint - 21

The URL link becomes a button. You know the button is active when it turns blue and is underlined. Be sure to click on the button from the "Slide Show" tab and "From Current Slide" tab to make sure the button link works correctly. Audio and Video PowerPoint - 22

Third Option "Clip Art Video..." Click on the "Insert" tab and then the "Video" tab and then click on our third option "Clip Art Video..." Audio and Video PowerPoint - 23

Clip Art options pop up on the right hand side of your screen. You can click drag and drop any number of these animated clip arts. NOTE: The animation will not be visible until you preview your presentation in "Slide Show" mode. Sometimes the animations repeat over and over again and other times they play once and do not move after that. Audio and Video PowerPoint - 24

Double Click on the clip art OR Click drag and drop. NOTE: You can adjust the size and shape of your clip art video using the side adjusters. Audio and Video PowerPoint - 25

To see the clip art animation go, click on "From Current Slide" to view your presentation. Your clip art animation will move. Audio and Video PowerPoint - 26

Notice that clip art videos are the only ones that will have animation. Make sure you select only videos if you want your clip art to have animation. Audio and Video PowerPoint - 27
