System The Johnson Controls IFC-50 intelligent fire alarm control unit is ideally suited for smaller system configurations such as schools, nursing homes, shopping units and offices. In more challenging environments such as stables, saw mills, food processing plants etc. detection is made possible by using the advanced range of sensors from Johnson Controls. The IFC-50 series provides control of 99 heat, smoke or multi-criteria sensors and a combination of 99 call points, monitor modules, control modules, conventional interface modules, loop powered beam detectors, sounders and relays on a single loop. In addition to the 16-zone fire/fault and 15 general status information LED s, the IFC-50 has a 2 x 40 character, backlit LCD with variable viewing angle for easy reading. User-definable text messages can be read directly from the panel to provide details of fire and fault event locations. Advanced detection Today s building environments are varied and often change. Public areas change from being occupied to empty, offices are cleaned thus producing dust to become airborne, a storeroom is storing plastics one day and cardboard another. These environments are normal and whilst wanting to provide a safe environment for the occupants, unwanted alarms are very undesirable. The multi-sensor from Johnson Controls combines superior optical smoke chamber design and thermistor heat elements with a sophisticated sensor algorithm to provide the next generation of sensors. Using advanced algorithms, the Multi-Sensor continuously samples the environment and adjusts its sensitivity and alarm thresholds automatically to provide optimum sensitivity for the conditions that exist at that time. Using both smoke and heat elements enable the sensor to respond quickly to a broad range of fire types whilst remaining unaffected by passing phenomena. This unique sensor, as well as utilizing drift compensation, also provides two maintenance levels enabling preventative maintenance before the sensor reaches a maintenance-required level. IFC-50 can also connect intrinsically safe smoke detectors. Many industrial environments are potentially explosive. Often, in those environments, electronic equipment must be enclosed in expensive, heavy, explosion-proof housings, which create a physical barrier between the electronics and the explosive environment. The Johnson Controls sensor for hazard area provides a cost-effective alternative e to explosion-proof fire detectors by providing an electronic barrier. It is specifically designed to operate with intrinsic safe barriers, which limit power to the hazardous area to safe levels. Configuration The Johnson Controls IFC-50 is fully on-site programmable, intelligent fire alarm panel. It can be programmed either from the panel keypad or from a personal computer using the off-line Windows-based configuration tool IFC50/60TOOL. An Auto-Learn facility allows the user to install and commission a standard system with a minimum of effort. The panel software can be upgraded on site via a personal computer using the flash-programming tool, making it very easy to update existing sites with the latest features. The IFC-50 allows the system designer to group addressable sensors or modules into 16 zones. Output control actions may be grouped by alarm patterns and, if required, enable individual addresses to be activated by specific inputs or 2 IFC 50 110409.doc

groups of inputs. This significantly simplifies configuration, reducing the time it takes to set up a complete system, and this allows actions in the event of fire to be customized using powerful input and output configurations to suit specific applications. Alternatively, the default mode can be used which gives the basic protection required by most safety standards to achieve a near instant functional system, suitable for emergency retrofit applications. System security and integrity is an important aspect of the IFC-50. An optional tamper switch can be installed to protect against unauthorized cover removal. Furthermore, user controls on the front panel are protected by up to 10 individually configurable passwords making it virtually impossible for unauthorized people to access the panel and its manual controls and change the system configuration. Alternatively, the key-switch can be used to enable/disable level 2 access. All configuration data is retained in non-volatile memory and is, therefore, protected against complete loss of the power supply. IFC Repeaters The IFCR Series repeaters and IFCR-Mimic drivers complement the IFC Series intelligent fire alarm panels. By placing repeaters and/or graphical mimic display panels at strategic points in the facility such as nurse stations, floor landings, gatehouse or control rooms valuable time can be saved when identifying the location of a fire and/or evacuating the building. The repeaters also provide additional system control and monitoring positions for the system users. repeater s compact design makes it very easy to install and commission in either surface mount or flush applications. The repeaters can store up to 150 most-recent events, therefore making commissioning very easy For security, a key switch on the front of the repeater enables function keys. The IFCR-Mimic is a highly versatile product that allows tremendous flexibility in configuring large numbers of system status LED s, relays and programmable digital inputs. IFCR-Mimic IFCR-2A The IFCR-2A Active Repeater Panel combines in a compact design a 2 x 40 characters backlit LCD display, system control buttons plus nine LED indicators. The LCD replicates the display on the IFC-50 panel and utilizes the same simple menu driven user interface of the control unit. The control buttons and navigation keys on the repeater provide the operator with the ability to navigate through menu options and event displays. Furthermore it allows the user to remotely reset the system, acknowledge events, silence sounders, resound sounders, initiate evacuation and to run diagnostics tests on the repeater. The nine LED indicators provide the user with a quick summary of the general system status. The Up to 16 mimics can be attached to the IFC-50 via an RS485 communication link. Utilizing the maximum capabilities of a full array of 16 mimics, 8.192 LED s or relay driven outputs, 896 high current outputs and 128 digital inputs are available. Each IFCR-Mimic consists of a microprocessor based mimic control board and up to 8 flexible driver boards. Each driver board provides 64 LED or low current relay drivers, 8 high current driven outputs and 8 programmable digital inputs typically used for Mute, Lamp Test, Enable, Reset, Silence or other. Termination boards are also available to simplify wiring of LED s relays and other devices to each driver board. 3 IFC 50 110409.doc

System The Johnson Controls IFC3000 intelligent fire alarm panel is ideally suited for large facilities such as shopping malls, schools, office buildings, hospitals, hotels, factories and large warehouses. With its expansion capability the IFC3000 provides control of 2 to 8 loops with each loop having a capacity of 198 devices (99 sensors and 99 modules). The modular design of the IFC3000 allows the user to tailor the panel to their exact application requirements. Three sizes of power supplies are available (2.5A, 4.5A and 7A) to cater for the needs of small, medium and large systems. Internal and external printer options, a variety of mounting options and the optional loop and communication expansion modules all provide a high degree of flexibility during initial design with a ready-made expansion path for the future. The 240 x 64 pixel graphic LCD combined with simple menu driven user interface bring full system monitoring and control functions at the fingertips of the system operator The graphic LCD fully meets the mandatory requirements of EN54 for primary indications, however, if desired, zone status indicator LED s can also be added for up to 255 zones per panel to give the user additional status indicators Configuration The Johnson Controls IFC3000 is a fully on-site programmable intelligent fire alarm panel. It can be programmed either from the panel keypad, or from a personal computer using the off-line configuration tool IFC3000STOOL. An Auto-Learn facility allows the user to install and commission a standard system with the minimum of effort. A virtual keyboard on the LCD will allow the user to enter any text message or description from the panel. The IFC3000 provides redundant processing exceeding the requirements of stringent EN54 requirements. In addition to a system microprocessor, each ELIB (Enhanced Loop Interface Board) is independently controlled by a separate powerful microprocessor. In the event of a system failure the ELIBs continue to fully supply fire cover. Under the EN54 rules, detection point limit with the ELIB is 1584 point max per panel. If a more complex Cause & Effect matrix is required the IFC3000 may be programmed to meet individual site requirements by means of the powerful Control By Event (CBE) rules. Using CBE rules, site specific requirements such as plant shutdown, fire door control, smoke control, phased evacuation, point/zone isolation, point to output controls and many others can be programmed with relative ease. Devices can be grouped into a total of 255 zones per panel for control and monitoring purposes. Furthermore, the CBE rules can be initiated and combined through flexible time programs. The IFC3000 can be programmed to compensate for the differences in the use of the areas where the smoke sensors are utilized. A total of 9 different sensitivity levels can be assigned to individual smoke sensors thereby allowing the system designer to closely match the sensor s response to the environment in which the device is located. Using time programs, different sensitivity settings can be selected at different times of the day. For example, to avoid false alarms, smoke sensor sensitivity can be lowered during the day when a meeting room is likely to be used by smokers and set 2 IFC 3000 110409.doc

back to a high sensitivity during the night time when the premises are unoccupied. System security and integrity is an important aspect of the IFC3000. The cover of the IFC3000 cannot be removed without a special tool and an optional tamper switch can be installed to protect against unauthorized cover removal. Furthermore, two levels of Password protection makes it virtually impossible for unauthorized people to access the panel and its manual controls and change system configuration. Alternatively the key-switch can be used to enable/disable level 2 access. All configuration data is retained in non-volatile memory and is, therefore, protected against complete failure of the power supply. Networking The Johnson Controls IFC 2 net has been developed to exceed international requirements and to set new standards in speed reliability and flexibility. IFC 2 net enables the use of up to 100 nodes, with up to 32 networked IFC3000 8 loop fire alarm panels. This provides a system capacity of 50,688 addressable points (25,344 smoke detectors and 25,344 input and/or output modules and/or loop powered sounders, 8160 network zones and up to 170 km of network cabling. Detection and recovery mechanisms from open and short circuits, as well as earth faults, are totally reliable and exceed the EN54. Each communication path between nodes is electrically isolated, so that no ground loop problems exist. Digital based communications offers added levels of noise immunity even in the harshest, noisiest environments. True peer to peer performance is provided in many ways. Because of the ultra high speed of the IFC 2 net, the network appears to be invisible. A very large network has the feel of one single panel. Complex CBE configured and integral to each attached fire panel, can travel across the network at speeds so high that multiple decisions can made at great speed. In the event of multiple network faults, as with an open or short circuit between nodes, mini networks are established and continue to function as normal. For example in the case of an open circuit between buildings the panels inside each building continue to communicate with each other and any CBE between them operates as intended Panel #1 Panel # n Up to 8 Loops and1.584 devices Up to 8 Loops and 1.584 devices Up to 8 Loops and 1.584 devices Fibre-Optic Cable up to 3 Km IFC 2 net Copper Wires up to 1,7 Km Panel # n Panel n. 32 Up to 8 Loops and 1.584 devices Up to 8 Loops and 1.584 devices Up to 8 Loops and 1.584 devices 3 IFC 3000 110409.doc

Master / Slave Network The IFC3000 Master/Slave network is an RS485 serial data link and can support up to 32 network stations. Up to a maximum ID3000 panels can be connected together with repeaters. The Master/ Slave network supports general control functions such as Reset, Silence, Mute, Evacuate and more specific functions such as Point/Zone Isolate, Walk Test, Zone Event Broadcast and Control by Event (CBE) across the network. Full system monitoring and control is easily achieved from the Master control panel. The repeaters also provide additional system control and monitoring positions for the system users. resound sounders, initiate evacuation and to run diagnostics tests on the repeater. IFCR-2A is providing predefined information through a 2 x 40 characters display, and same functionality with its pushbuttons. For security, a key switch on the front of the repeater enables function keys. The IFCR-Mimic is a highly versatile product that allows tremendous flexibility in configuring large numbers of system status LED s, relays and programmable digital inputs. IFCR-2A IFCR-Mimic IFCR-6A The IFCR6A Active Repeater Panel combines a compact design with a 240 x 64 pixel graphics LCD, system control buttons in surface or flush mounting options. The large LCD replicates the display on the IFC3000 panel and utilizes the same simple menu driven user interface as the IFC3000 panel. The control buttons and navigation keys on the repeater provide the operator with the ability to navigate through menu options and event displays. Furthermore it allows the user to remotely reset the system, acknowledge events, silence sounders, Up to 31 mimics can be attached to the IFC3000 via an RS485 communication link.utilizing the maximum capabilities of a full array of 31 mimics, 15.872 LED s or relay driven outputs, 1736 high current outputs and 248 digital inputs are available. Each IFCR- Mimic consists of a microprocessor based mimic control board and up to 8 flexible driver boards. Each driver board provides 64 LED or low current relay drivers, 8 high current driven outputs and 8 programmable digital inputs typically used for Mute, Lamp Test, Enable, Reset, Silence or other. Termination boards are also available to simplify wiring of LED s relays and other devices to each driver board 4 IFC 3000 110409.doc
