TOSHIBA Strata CIX Product Bulletin PBCIX-0098 January 2009 Polycom Conference Phone Series Deliver SIP based Conferencing Capability on Strata CIX Toshiba is pleased to announce a new conference telephone product series from Polycom. The Polycom SoundStation IP4000, IP6000, and IP7000 conference phones meet the needs from the SMB to enterprise level systems. The phones operate using Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) over IP, registering directly to the Strata CIX system without any gateway requirements. The Polycom conference phones provide SIP line extension dialing and interoperability with many Strata CIX features, full-duplex operation, and outstanding voice quality ideal for conference room applications. Product Overview The Polycom SoundStation IP4000, IP6000, and IP7000 conference phones are advanced IP conference phones that deliver superior performance for small to board room level conference rooms. With advanced features, broad SIP interoperability and remarkable voice quality, these conference phones are a price/performance breakthrough for the Strata CIX SIP-enabled IP environment. The IP4000 has been a leading conference telephone in the market. The new IP6000 and IP7000 conference phones are built on the success of the IP4000 and include the Polycom HD Voice TM wideband audio capability for campus-wide peer-to-peer calling on the Polycom phones that support this feature. The IP6000 delivers high-fidelity audio from 220Hz to 14kHz, while the IP7000 delivers from 220Hz to 22kHz, capturing both the deeper lows and higher frequencies of the human voice for conference calls that sound as natural as being there. The IP4000, IP6000 and IP7000 conference telephones provide full-duplex technology that eliminates distracting drop-outs and echo cancellation. The IP6000 and IP7000 provide next generation advancements on these features, along with Automatic Gain Control that intelligently adjusts the microphone sensitivity based on where participants are seated in the conference room, making the conversations clearer for all participants. Value Proposition Known Issues When User A puts a call On-Hold, User A is able to Retrieve the call. However, if User A puts a call On- Hold then User B on the other side also puts the call On-Hold, User A will still be able to Retrieve the call, but User B will receive a flashing red indicator and will not be able to Retrieve the call. User B must then hang up and re-dial. Polycom is working on a fix that will disable the User B Hold option when User A puts a call On-Hold. This is only an issue for User B using a Polycom phone. For incoming ISDN calls on Polycom Conference Phones, a CN prefix will be attached to the Caller ID display. In addition, the user will not be able to call back directly via the Caller ID History display and must dial the number manually. For station-to-station and analog PSTN calls, no CN is attached and Caller ID History call back functionality is normal. End-User Reference Guide End-User Reference Guide Strata CIX Setup The Polycom SoundStation IP conference phones support both RFC2833 and Inband DTMF. However, please note that when using RFC2833, the G.722 and G.722.1 codecs will not be available for peer-to-peer calls between Polycom phones that support these codecs. DTMF Settings Option 1: Set CIX program 250 FK13 = Inband for DTMF [note: Supports G.711Mu, G.729AB, and G.722 / G.722.1 codecs] Option 2: Set CIX program 250 FK13 = RFC2833 for DTMF [note: Supports G.711Mu and G.729AB codecs only. Per Audio Processing Settings below, must set G.722 and G.722.1 codecs to Not Used or calls may be dropped during Call Transfer.] TFTP Server Setup The Polycom Conference Phones require a TFTP Server for firmware upgrades. In addition, a TFTP Server may be used optionally to significantly shorten the time required for the phone to register with the CIX. Toshiba has approved the free-of-charge SolarWinds TFTP Server, which can be downloaded from their website (www.solarwinds.com). However, almost any TFTP Server can be utilized. The TFTP Server can be run on the Toshiba MAS or on a separate server. 1. Click File > Configure. 2. Click the General tab, and then specify whether to start the server (shown right). 3. If you want the TFTP server to appear in the task tray, check Add TFTP Server to Windows task tray 4. Specify a directory to use as the root directory of the TFTP server. Files received by the TFTP server are saved here. Files to be sent by the TFTP server must be first copied to this directory. 5. Click the Security tab, then select the actions you want to allow the TFTP server to perform. For example, click Receive files if you want to restrict the server to only receiving files. 6. If you want to restrict the TFTP server functions to a specific IP address range, click Add and then specify the beginning and ending IP addresses of the range. Then, click OK. 7. Click OK. Note TFTP protocol has no innate security. There are no passwords or authentication. SolarWinds TFTP Server adds security by allowing you to limit the server's functionality and specify a range of IP addresses from which to accept requests. 8 of 16 Polycom Conference Phone Series Deliver SIP based Conferencing Capability on Strata CIX

Technical Support Polycom Certification Program Polycom requires that all Dealers (Resellers) be Certified by Polycom via Sales and Technical Training before a Dealer can promote, quote, sell, or support Polycom products. Furthermore, training must be completed in order for the Dealer to receive Technical Support directly from Polycom (see below). This training is provided via online modules that are required to be renewed every two (2) years in order to maintain Certification status. Training descriptions and links are as follows. To get certified, the dealer must first sign up for a log in to the Polycom Resource Center at http://portal.polycom.com. Once access is granted, they can then apply for product certification. Once logged in, select the More Info link under the Channel Certification section. In this section, you can find detailed requirements for the various product certifications. To get to the application select the Application and Tools link in the left side navigation bar (Note: be sure to hold down your CTRL key even if you have pop up blockers disabled). A new window will open where you can then select the Apply link. Fill out the form and submit. Once approved, the dealer will receive an email with next steps on training at Polycom University. Please note that the dealer will not be able to get into Polycom University until their certification application has been approved. The following modules can be searched for by course number in Polycom University by clicking on Course Catalog, then Catalog, and then entering the course number in the search box. Polycom University is a separate log in and access will not be granted until the certification application has been approved.
