Important SAFETY Information General Safety Rules Do not exceed 1 ton (2,000 lb.) weight capacity. Be aware of dynamic loading! Sudden load movement may briefly create excess load causing product failure. Read entire manual, including all safety warnings and operating procedures, before assembling and operating Gantry Crane. Do not use to lift, support or transport humans or animals. Do not use for aircraft purposes. Keep work area clean, free of clutter and well lit. Cluttered and dark work areas can cause accidents. Keep children and bystanders away while using the Gantry Crane. Be aware of all power lines and other hazards in the work area. Wear ANSI-approved safety goggles and heavy-duty work gloves during assembly and use. Use as intended only; do not modify the Gantry Crane in any way and do not use for anything other than intended purposes. Specific Safety Instructions Do not move the Crane when it is under load. The Caster Wheels are not designed to be rolled when the Crane is lifting an object. Do not stand under object that is being lifted. Be aware of the possibility of a load slipping off Crossbeam (19). An item that falls from the Crane may cause serious injury. Make sure load is secured, balanced, and positioned properly in the hook, sling, or lifting device before it is lifted. Make sure load is clear of obstructions, such as stockpiles, machinery, anchors and other obstacles when lifting or moving the load. When moving Crane, avoid sudden acceleration and movements. Verify ground is solid enough to support weight of the Crane when fully loaded. Verify that the Gantry Crane passage is clear. Do not use for side pulling. Operate on flat and level surface only. DO NOT lift loads if the Cross Beam is not level. DO NOT lift if load is swinging. DO NOT lift if the load is not suspended directly under the Cross Beam. DO NOT lift loads over people or allow anyone to walk under an elevated load. DO NOT use unless all assembly points have been inspected and verified. Check for damage and be sure all hardware is tight before EACH use DO NOT leave the loads suspended when the gantry crane is unattended. DO NOT move or load unless Height Adjusting Pins (18) are fully inserted. DO NOT remove, deface, or obscure warnings, caution labels, and capacity labels on Crane. DO NOT use if any parts are bent, have signs of wear or damage, or are missing. Keep the Gantry Crane level at all times. Maintain product labels and nameplates. Assembly Instructions Read the entire Important Safety Information section at the beginning of this document including all text under subheadings therein before set up or use of this product. Attach four Casters (27) to Base (26). Apply small amount of grease (not included) to zerk fitting of each Caster. See Figure 3, below. Base (26) 1. Attach two Plates (20) to both sides of end of Crossbeam (19), using four Bolts (1), Washers (2), Spring Washers (3), and Nuts (4). Repeat for the other end of Crossbeam. See Figure 1, below. Position an Outer Post (23) at center of Base (26), making certain that the slot at the sides face towards the Casters. See Figure 4, below. Figure 1 2. Attach each Inner Post (21) to the Crossbeam and Plate and fasten together by using eight Bolts, Washers, Spring Washers, and Nuts. See Figure 2, below. Washers (2), Spring Washers (3) and Nuts (4) Figure 4 From the top, insert two Bolts (14) through bottom of Outer Post and into Base (26). Slip on Washer (2) and Spring Washer (3) and Nuts (4). 6. Attach two Support Tubes (22) to inner face of each Outer Post (23). Insert the Bolt (5) through top of Support Tube and through eyelet of the Bracket and Support Tube. Slip on a Washer (6), Spring Washer (7) and secure with the Nut (8). See Figure 5, below. 9. Attach Handle (24) to the bracket on the side of Outer Post by inserting the Bolt (10) from the inside and then slipping on Washer (6), Spring Washer (16) and then securing with Nut (11). See Figure 7, below. Make sure the two hooks of the Handle engage the two Pins (25). See Figure 8, above. Repeat for other post assembly. Figure 5 7. Attach the other end of Support Tube to the base assembly by the following the steps in Ste 6, above. See Figure 5, above. Repeat for other three Support Tubes 8. Attach Inner Post (21) into Outer Post (23) by inserting Hand Screw (9) all the way through slots and into Inner Post holes. Make sure Inner Post heights on each side are adjusted equally. Tighten all Bolts and Nuts securely and make certain entire Telescoping Gantry Crane is tight and secure. Test Gantry Crane before initial use. 1. 2. 4. OPERATION Do not exceed 1 ton (2,000 lb.) weight capacity during use. Attach appropriate trolley or hoist (not included) to Crane crossbeam, making sure it is firmly fastened. Read manual of hoist to verify it can be used with Crane and follow all hoist safety instructions and procedures. Move the Gantry Crane so that it is directly above the item to be lifted. Once in place, lock all the Casters. To raise or lower the Crossbeam (19), two people are required. They should perform the following steps in unison. 12. 1 14. 15. To Lower the Crossbeam: Back off the Hand Screws (9) to free Posts. Lift the Handle (24), attach the Hooks (28) under the idle Height Adjustment Pin (25), raise the handles and remove the load bearing pins. Lower the handles until the pins rest in the well of the height adjustment slot. Remove the hooks, set the idle pins in the adjacent upper holes, attach the hooks to these pins and repeat the above mentioned step until the desired height is reached. See Figure 10, below. To Raise the Crossbeam: 5. Lift up Handles (24) and attach the Hooks (28) to the bottom of the load bearing Pin (18). See Figure 9, below. Pin (25) Handle (24) Figure 10 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. Figure 9 Unscrew both Hand Screws (9) to release the Inner Posts (21). Remove the Lower Height Pin altogether. Remove idle upper Height Adjustment Pin (25). Force Handles (24) down, lifting the Inner Posts (21) and insert the idle Pin (25) into the exposed pin hole below the elevated pin. Gently lower the Handles (24), allowing the Inner Posts (21) to rest on the Pin (25). Repeat these steps to attain the desired height. Turn all four Hand Screws (9) clockwise to further secure the Inner and Outer posts together. 16. Turn all four Hand Screws (9) clockwise to further secure the Inner and Outer post. MAINTENANCE 1. Before each use, inspect the general condition of the Crane. Check for bent, cracked, worn or damaged parts, loose or missing parts, and any other condition that may affect the Crane s safe operation. If a problem occurs, have it corrected before furhter use. Do not use damaged equipment. 2. To clean, use cloth and mild detergent. Do not use solvents or other flammable agents. When storing, keep Crane in a clean, dry and safe location away from children. 4. CAUTION!
