Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry, or long hair can be caught in moving parts. 5. Do not overreach. Wear ANSI-approved safety impact eye glasses when using this product. TOOL USE AND CARE 7. Store idle tools and equipment out of reach of children and other untrained people. Tools and equipment are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. 8. Maintain the Motorcycle Lift with care. Keep this product clean. A properly maintained tool is easier to control. Do not use damaged tools and equipment. Tag damaged tools and equipment Do not use until repaired. 9. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, loose or broken parts, and any other condition that may affect the Motorcycle Lift s operation. If damaged, have the tool serviced before using. Follow instructions in the Inspection, Maintenance, And Cleaning section of this manual. Use of unauthorized parts or failure to follow maintenance instructions may create a risk of injury. SECIFIC SAFETY RULES. Maintain labels and nameplates on the Motorcycle Lift. These carry important information. If unreadable or missing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for a replacement. 2. Use the right product for the job. There are certain applications for which this product was designed. Do not use this product for a purpose for which it was not intended. 3. Industrial applications must follow OSHA requirements. 4. Store idle tools. When not in use, store the Motorcycle Lift in a clean, dry, safe location out of reach of children. 5. rior to using this product, make sure to read and understand all instructions and safety precautions as outlined in the motorcycle manufacturer s manual and engine diagnostic/repair manuals. 6. This Motorcycle Lift is designed for short-term lifting of loads. Do not use for extended lifting of loads. 8. Use the Motorcycle Lift only on a flat, level, solid surface capable of supporting the weight of the Lift and the weight of the object being lifted. 9. Make sure any load being supported by this Motorcycle Lift is well balanced. Unbalanced loads may cause the lift to tip over, potentially causing serious personal injury and/or property damage. 0. Stay clear of the Motorcycle Lift. Never go under an object being supported by the Lift. Always use the Locking Bar (22) to lock the Lift in its up position. 5 . This Motorcycle Lift is not designed to be used for aircraft purposes. 2. Always make sure the object being lifted is properly and safely secured to the Motorcycle Lift prior to raising the object. 4. WARNING! Use the Motorcycle Lift in a well ventilated area. Do not operate the unit in a closed area or a poorly ventilated area. When running, the engine of a motorcycle produces carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless, toxic fume that, when inhaled, can cause serious personal injury or death. 5. Always monitor the object being lifted so it does not rock back and forth. 6. Never exceed the maximum working air pressure of 20 SI for this Motorcycle Lift. Doing so may cause personal injury and/or property damage. 7. Use compressed air only. Use clean, dry, regulated, compressed air. Never use oxygen, carbon dioxide, combustible gases, or any other bottled gas as a power source for this tool. 8. WARNING! eople with pacemakers should consult their physician(s) before using this product. Electromagnetic fields in close proximity to a heart pacemaker could cause interference or failure of the pacemaker. In addition, people with pacemakers should adhere to the following: Caution is necessary when near the coil, spark plug cables, or distributor of a running engine. The engine should always be off if adjustments are to be made to the distributor. 9. WARNING! The warnings and cautions discussed in this manual cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors which cannot be built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator. ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS. A minimum of two adults are normally required to set up and operate the Motorcycle Lift. 2. repare for assembly by having a clean, well lit location. It is recommended to assemble the Motorcycle Lift on the floor. Also, you will need several small, open-ended or adjustable wrenches (not included) to complete the assembly. To Attach The Rear Swivel Caster Wheels:. Slightly elevate the rear end of the Motorcycle Lift by turning the two Adjusting SKU 942 For technical questions, please call age 5
6 Screws (8) clockwise. (See Figure A.) 2. Align the four mounting holes in each Caster (4) assembly with the four mounting holes located on the right and left side of the Motorcycle Lift frame. Then secure the two Caster Wheels to the frame of the unit, using four s (2), eight Washers (3), four Lock Washers (20), and four s (2) for each Caster Wheel. (See Figure A.) To Attach The Front Wheels:. Insert the Front Spindle (52) through the two mounting holes located at the front of the Motorcycle Lift frame. Then, insert one Washer (43) and tighten one (42) onto each protruding end of the Front Spindle. (See Figure A.) 2. Insert one Front Wheel (44) onto each protruding end of the Front Spindle (52). Then, insert one Washer (43) onto each protruding end of the Front Spindle. (See Figure A.) 3. Secure the Front Wheels (44) to the Front Spindle (52), by inserting one Cotter in (47) through each protruding end of the Front Spindle. Make sure to bend the Cotter ins after insertion. (See Figure A.) For best service, you should incorporate an oiler, regulator, and inline filter, as shown in the diagram on the next page. Hoses, couplers, oilers, regulators, and filters are all available at Harbor Freight Tools. NOTE: If an automatic oiler is not used, put 3-5 drops of pneumatic Tool Oil (not included) in the Motorcycle Lift s Quick Coupler (38A) before each use. (See Figure B, next page.) 7 REGULATOR TO QUICK COULER (38A) OF MOTORCYCLE LIFT OILER FILTER FIGURE B To Check The Level Of Hydraulic Oil:. The Motorcycle Lift already contains some hydraulic oil in its Hydraulic ump Reservoir (32). Even so, it is recommended that you check the oil level in the Reservoir and, if necessary, top off the Reservoir with the proper amount of 5/40 hydraulic oil (not included). (See Assy. Diagram, page 5.) 2. Make sure to screw the two Adjusting Screws clockwise enough to lift the two Caster Wheels (4) off the floor so as to provide stability for the Motorcycle Lift. (See Figure A.) 3. To check the level of hydraulic oil, remove the Sliding late (36) from the latform (35) to expose the Hydraulic ump Reservoir (32). (See Assy. Diagrams, pages 3 and 5.) 4. Remove the rubber Filler lug (33) located on the top of the Reservoir (32). If necessary, top off the Reservoir with hydraulic oil. (See Assy. Diagram, page 5.) 5. Connect the air compressor s hose to the to the Air Motor assembly. Then turn on the air compressor and set its regulator at 20 SI. (See Assy. Diagram, page 4.) 5. Insert the Lift Foot edal () onto the ump iston Spindle (9), and slowly pump the Lift Foot edal until a slight amount of hydraulic oil begins to leak out of the Reservoir (32). Discontinue pumping the Lift Foot edal. Then, replace the Filler lug (33) on the top of the Reservoir. (See Assy. Diagram, page 5.) 6. Insert the Release Foot edal (0) onto the Release Valve Spindle (5). ump the Lift Foot edal () until the latform (35) of the Motorcycle Lift reaches its maximum height. Then press down slightly on the Release Foot edal until the latform is fully collapsed to the floor. Repeat this procedure several times to ensure the Motorcycle Lift is operating properly. 8 To Install The Stop late:. WARNING! As an additional safety precaution, ALWAYS insert the Locking Bar (22) completely through the Front Lifting Arm (38) when the Motorcycle Lift is in its raised position. (See Figure C.) Insert the Release Foot edal (0) onto the Release Valve Spindle (5). ump the Lift Foot edal () until the latform (35) of the Motorcycle Lift reaches its maximum height. (See Figure D.) 3. Align the two mounting slots in the Stop late (32) with the two mounting holes located at the rear of the latform (35). Then secure the Stop late to the latform, using two s (33), four Washers (23), and two s (30). NOTE: When adjusting the Stop late forward or backward, make sure to retighten the two s. 9 To Install The Vise Assembly:. NOTE: Additional mounting holes at the rear of the latform (35) allow for adjusting the forward/backward location of the Vise assembly. (See Figure D.) 2. To install the Vise assembly, align the two mounting holes at the base of the Vise assembly with two of the mounting holes located at the front of the latform (35). Then secure the Vise assembly to the latform, using two s (33), two Washers (23), and two s (30). (See Figure D.) To Install The U-Clamps:. Tighten a (9) on both threaded portions of a U-Clamp (8). Insert the U-Clamp through the two mounting holes on the latform (35). Then secure the U-Clamp to the latform, using two Lock Washers (20), and two s (9). Repeat this Step for the remaining U-Clamp. (See Figure D.) To Install The Sliding late:. lace the Sliding late (36) over the inspection hole of the latform (35), making sure the Sliding late is properly positioned. (See Figure D.) To Install The Ramp:. With assistance, lift the Ramp (37) and insert its two prongs into the two mount ing holes located on the latform. Secure the Ramp in place, using two Washers (23) and two R-ins (4). (See Figure D.) 2. Assembly is now complete. Remove the Locking Bar (22) from the Front Lifting Arm (38). Then press down slightly on the Release Foot edal until the latform (35) is fully collapsed to the floor. OERATING INSTRUCTIONS. WARNING! Do not exceed the maximum lifting capacity of this tool (,000 pounds). Exceeding the maximum lifting capacities could cause personal injury and/or property damage. 2. Make sure the latform (35) is fully collapsed to the floor. (See Figure E, next page.) SKU 942 For technical questions, please call age 9
10 3. Make sure the Sliding late (36) is properly positioned over the inspection hole of the latform (35). (See Figure E.) 4. Raise the Casters (4) off the floor to prevent the Motorcycle Lift from moving during use. Raise the Casters by turning the Adjustment Screws (8) clockwise. (See Figure E.) 5. With assistance, roll the motorcycle up the Ramp (37) and onto the latform (35) until its front wheel contacts the Stop late (32). Then, kick the center stand of the motorcycle down to stabilize it on the Lift. (See Figure E.) 6. Clamp the front wheel of the motorcycle into the Vise assembly (34). For maximum safety, you should also stabilize the motorcycle using tie-down straps (not included) with one end of the straps tied to the motorcycle and the other end of the straps tied to the U-Clamps (8). (See Figure E.) 7. ump the Lift Foot edal () repeatedly to raise the Motorcycle Lift. (See Figure E.) 8. When the latform (35) has been raised to the working height, insert the Locking Bar (22) completely through the Front Lifting Arm (38) to prevent the Motorcycle Lift from accidentally lowering. (See Figure C.) 9. When work on the motorcycle is completed, check under the Motorcycle Lift to make sure there are no tools, motorcycle parts, etc. and that it is safe to lower the Lift. 11 0. Remove the Locking Bar (22). Then slowly press the Release Foot edal (0) to slowly lower the latform (35) to the floor. (See Figure E.). With assistance, remove the tie-down straps from the motorcycle and U-Clamps (8). Loosen the Vise assembly (34). Kick the center stand of the motorcycle up. Then, slowly back the motorcycle completely off the Motorcycle Lift. (See Figure E.) 2. Turn off the air compressor. Squeeze the Air Valve (37) to release any remaining compressed air in the system. Then, disconnect the compressor s air hose from the Motorcycle Lift. (See Figure E.) 3. Remove the Lift Foot edal () and Release Foot edal (0), and store them with the Motorcycle Lift in a clean, dry, safe location out of reach of children and other unauthorized people. (See Figure E.) INSECTION, MAINTENANCE, AND CLEANING. Before each use, inspect the general condition of the Motorcycle Lift. Check for cracked, worn or damaged parts, loose or missing parts, low or no hydraulic oil, and any other condition that may affect the tool s safe operation. If a problem occurs, have the problem corrected before further use. Do not use damaged equipment. 2. Bleeding Hydraulic System. If the Motorcycle Lift is not working properly, it may be because the hydraulic system has air in the system. To remedy this problem the hydraulic system must be bled. See Bleeding Instructions on page 2 (Trouble Shooting Section). 3. To clean, use a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Do not use solvents or other flammable agents. 4. When storing, keep the Motorcycle Lift and its accessories in a clean, dry, safe location out of reach of children and other unauthorized people. 5. CAUTION! All maintenance, service, and repairs not discussed in this manual should only be performed by a qualified service technician. Make sure the air compressor s regulator is set at 200 SI. 3. Check all air connections for leaks. 4. Bleeding Instructions: urge the system of air by fully pressing the Release Foot edal (0) and pumping the Lift Foot edal () 5 to 20 times. (See page 7.) Check the level of hydraulic oil in the Reservoir (32). If necessary, top off the Reservoir with a high quality hydraulic oil of 5/40 viscosity. (See page 7.) After the system has been bled, test the operations of the Motorcycle Lift to assure its efficiency before attempting to lift a motorcycle. 5. If the hydraulic oil level is okay, have a qualified service technician replace the inner seals of the unit. art D escription Qty.
