III Call for applications to the second cycle degree course (laurea magistrale) in Safety Assessment of Xenobiotics and Biotechnological products (class LM 9) Rectoral decree no. 029532 of 2 May 201 amended by rectoral decree no. 029589 of 1 July 2015 ACADEMIC YEAR 2015/2016 THE RECTOR HAVING REGARD TO Law no. 26 of 02.08.1999 regulating access to university courses; HAVING REGARD TO Ministerial Decree no. 270 of 22 October 2004, Amendments to the regulations o the didactic autonomy of universities (Modifiche al regolamento recante norme concernenti l'autonomia didattica degli atenei) approved with Decree of the Minister for Universities and Scientific and Technological Research no. 509 of November 1999; HAVING REGARD TO the decisions of the competent Academic Bodies concerning the admission procedures; DECREES the announcement of a competition for admission to the second cycle degree course (laurea magistrale) in Safety Assessment of Xenobiotics and Biotechnological products (class LM- 9), for the academic year 2015/16. Art. 1 - Admission requirements first cycle degree (laurea triennale) in one of the following classes is required for admission to the second cycle degree course (laurea magistrale in Safety Assessment of Xenobiotics and Biotechnological products under Ministerial Decree 270 of 2004: L- 2 Biotecnology L- 29 Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies first cycle degree (laurea triennale in one of the following classes is required for admission to the second cycle degree course (laurea magistrale in Safety Assessment of Xenobiotics and Biotechnological products under Ministerial Decree 509 of 1999: Biotechnology 1
2 Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies Graduates with a degree obtained in a different class from the above must have gained: at least 9 university credits (ECTS) in one or more of the following scientific disciplinary sectors in the subject area of Chemistry: a) Analytical Chemistry CHIM/01 b) General and Inorganic Chemistry CHIM/03 c) Organic Chemistry CHIM/06 at least at least 1 university credits (ECTS) in the subject area of Physiology BIO/09 university credits (ECTS) in the subject area of Biochemistry and Biology: a) Biochemistry BIO/10 b) Molecular Biology BIO/11 c) Applied Biology BIO/13 at least 6 university credits (ECTS) in the subject area of Pharmacology- Toxicology BIO/14. Students enrolled on the final year of first cycle degree courses can be admitted to the admission exam as long as they graduate by 3 December 2015. Candidates in possession of university qualifications gained abroad and recognized as suitable by the University, and those who will graduate by 3 December 2015 can be admitted. Art. 2 - Number of places available The number of places available for the first year is 45, plus 1 abroad. places for non- EU citizens residing EU and non- EU citizens in possession of a residence permit for Italy issued in accordance with art. 2 law no. 189 of 30 July 2002 have access to university education under the same conditions as Italian students. of Citizens of Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and the Republic of San Marino, refugees and the beneficiaries of subsidiary protection, staff working in foreign diplomatic representations and in international bodies with offices in Italy, accredited by the Italian State or the Holy See, as well as their dependent family members (spouses and children only) are considered equivalent to EU citizens. Art. 3 - Exam registration procedure and deadline Registration will begin on 21 May 2015 and terminate on 3 September 2015 at 12.00 midday at the very latest. All candidates are required to apply online, according to the following procedure: 2

Register o the University portal through the page: https://www.unimi.it/registrazione/eng/registra.keb (this step is not required if the candidate is already registered on the portal or is in possession of their own university credentials) 2. Sign up to the Services for admission to Master programmes with entrance examination, using own credentials: http://studenti.divsi.unimi.it/ammissioni/a/magistraliprogrammato/checklogin.asp 3. Pay the fee of 30.00 in one of the following ways: using the MAV (notice of payment) form generated at the end of the online enrolment procedure; by credit card (until 5 days before the deadline for applications). Payment must be made by the deadline for the exam registration at the very latest, on pain of exclusion. Payment using the MAV form can only be made in Italy. The online admission service also requires the following documents to be uploaded, in.jpg,.pdf or.rtf format: Graduates/future graduates of other Italian Universities self- certification of first cycle degree/enrolment with exams: the document must contain a list of the exams taken, with grades, credits and scientific- disciplinary sectors. In addition to their personal details, candidates who have not yet graduated must provide the total credits obtained, the average grade, exams taken and not yet recorded with the relative credits, exams not yet taken with the relative credits, and their expected date of graduation. Candidates with foreign qualifications First cycle degree certificate or registration certificate including exams: the certificates must confirm the qualification obtained or that the candidate is enrolled on a degree programme, as well as the exams passed, with grades and credits. Alternatively, the Diploma Supplement can be provided. Curriculum vitae in English. receipt is issued at the end of the online registration procedure, which must be shown to the examining board on the day of the exam. The receipt is the only document accepted as proof of registration for the admission exam. Any candidate who provides false details or is not in possession of the admission requirements will be excluded from the final ranking list. In addition to registering online according to the above procedures, non- EU candidates residing abroad are also required to present an application for pre- enrolment o the course to the Italian diplomatic mission in their country of origin within the deadline and in compliance with the modes of University enrolment for foreign students provided for by the law in force, published on the website of the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research on the following page: http://www.studiare- in- italia.it/studentistranieri/ 3
Art. 4 - Disabled candidates In order to ensure equal opportunities during the exam, candidates with disabilities who require extra time and/or specific aids must apply to the Segreteria Studenti of Scienze del Farmaco, Via Celoria 20 or send a fax to 0250313887, by September 2015, including certification issued by the competent local healthcare structure, in accordance with law no. 104/92 as subsequently amended. Art. 5 - Candidates with SLD Candidates with a diagnosis of specific learning disabilities (s.l.d.) under law 170 of 2010 are granted 30% more time than that set for the other candidates. The board can also consent to the use of compensatory tools that, considering the type of test to be taken and the type and degree of the candidate s disability, are necessary to ensure equal opportunities during the exam. The use of compensatory tools that create an unjustified advantage will not be permitted. To be allowed to use the abovementioned measures, candidates with s.l.d. must apply to the Segreteria Studenti of Scienze del Farmaco, Via Celoria 2 or send fax to 0250313887, by September 2015, including appropriate certification issued not more than three years previously by the National Health Service or accredited specialists or facilities. Art. 6 - Admission exam schedule and procedure The admission exam will take place on 11 September 2015 at the Settore Didattico in via Celoria 20 (access from Via Celoria 26 or Via Golgi 19) and in the test centres of the following countries: AFRICA: Nigeria, South Africa AMERICA: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, USA ASIA: Saudi Arabia, China, United Arab Emirates, Japan, India, Iran, Israel, Lebanon, Qatar, Turkey EUROPE: Denmark, France, Germany, UK, Czech Republic, Hungary OCEANIA: Australia Other centres in Italy and abroad may be set up depending on the registrations for the exams. Candidates will be allocated to an exam centre according to the address provided in their registration form. Candidates will be notified of their allocated exam centre by email by September 2015. This information will also be published on the University s website on September 2015, on the following page: http://www.unimi.it/eng/courses/88565.htm The exam will start at 9.00 a.m. in the Milan exam centre and other exam centres in Italy; in the exam centres in other countries the start time will be notified along with the publication of the centre allocations. Candidates must arrive at the exam venue bearing the proof of identity indicated in the registration phase (the document must be currently valid) for identification. Candidates who arrive without proof of identity, within invalid proof of identity, or late will not be admitted to the exam. The exam will last 90 minutes. 4
During the exam candidates cannot leave the room, use handwritten notes, texts of any kind, calculators or anything else specified before the start of the exam. The board and the supervisory staff will supervise observance of the abovementioned rules and have the right to adopt the necessary measures resulting from their non- observance. For any matters not covered in this announcement, the provisions on the conduct of public competitions apply. Art. 7 - Examining board The examining board is appointed by Rector s Decree. During the exam the board will be assisted by teaching and administrative staff, who will be responsible for supervising and identifying the candidates. Art. 8 - Examination programme and assessment criteria The exam consists in multiple choice questionnaire on the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Toxicology, Pharmacology, Physiology and Pathology. The ranking list in order of merit will be based on the scores as follows: - Correct answer: 1 point - No answer, cancelled or illegible answer: 0 points - Wrong answer: minus 0.25 points In the event of two or more candidates with the same score, priority will be given to candidate with the higher score in Toxicology and Pharmacology. In the event of two or more candidates with the same score after the Toxicology and Pharmacology scores have been taken into account, priority will be given to the candidate with the higher score in Biology and Biochemistry. In the event of two or more candidates with the same score after the Biology and Biochemistry scores have been taken into account, priority will be given to the younger candidate. Art. 9 - Enrolment 9.1 Ranking list and enrolment of place winners The ranking list will be published on 16 September 2015, on the following page: http://www.unimi.it - Servizi on line SIFA - Graduatorie di ammissione corsi di laurea (http://www.unimi.it/hpsifa/nonprofiledpage_100.html). Publication of the ranking lists of the degree programme constitutes official communication to the candidates. Place winners of the competition, both graduates and future graduates, must register online by midday, 23 September 2015. Graduates must enrol online as indicated on the website on the following page: http://www.unimi.it/studenti/matricole/77604.htm. 5
Future graduates are required to fill in and deliver to the Segreteria Studenti of Scienze del Farmaco, via Celoria 22 the proper enrolment form available at the same office. 9.2 First selection from ranking list Places left vacant after the deadline for enrolment described in 9.1 are available for selection from the ranking list and will be notified at www.unimi.it - Servizi online Sifa Graduatorie ammissione corsi di laurea as from 25 September 2015. Candidates admitted for the places available must enrol by midday, 1 October 2015, according to the procedures described in 9.1. 9.3 Second selection from ranking list Places left vacant after the deadline for enrolment described in 9.2 are available for selection from the ranking list and will be notified at www.unimi.it - Servizi online Sifa Graduatorie ammissione corsi di laurea as from October 2015. Candidates admitted for the places available must register by midday, 15 October 2015, according to the procedures described in 9.1. 9.4 Candidates with qualifications gained abroad Candidates with qualifications gained abroad must deliver the following documentation (showing originals and delivering photocopies) to the Ufficio Studenti Internazionali Via Santa Sofia 9/1, Milan, by the deadlines above indicated: - First cycle degree (BSc. or equivalent), translated into Italian by an official translator, legalized by the competent authorities; - "Dichiarazione di valore in loco issued by the Italian diplomatic mission in the country in which the degree was obtained, or Diploma Supplement if adopted; - Italian tax code (codice fiscale); - copy of valid residence permit (only for non- EU candidates).
