Page 3/11 The Mirasys VMS product family consists of three series of hybrid and digital servers that support both analog and IP cameras. Mirasys VMS is manufacturer independent: the system supports all analog cameras and thousands of IP camera models from all major manufacturers. Mirasys VMS is delivered either in pre-assembled servers, or as software only. This guide is intended to provide basic hardware selection guidelines for customers who buy their Mirasys VMS system as pre-assembled servers. For customers who buy their VMS system as software only, please refer to Mirasys VMS System Requirements instead. The use of specific hardware components in Mirasys products is based on their performance, the availability of buses, brackets and USB connectors on the PC platform, etc. Every effort is made to reach a competitive product mix. Mirasys uses brand names and off-the-shelf standardized PC components to allow for easy local maintenance and upgradeability. Not all hardware or software options are mutually inclusive. All standard product models are specified and described in this document. When choosing options, please follow the restrictions marked on the respective product pages. If you are uncertain about the compatibility of a hardware or software option, please contact Mirasys. Page 10/11 Network Requirements These requirements apply to all Mirasys VMS installations. General Gigabit Ethernet is required on both the client and the server side. Data can be transmitted over the Internet, or any other network using TCP/IP. For best performance, the camera network should be closed to other network traffic and kept separate from the network used for server-server or server-client communication. It is heavily recommended to have two 1 Gbit/s network adapters for each server: one adapter for the camera feeds and one adapter for server-client and server-server communications. In the case of large systems with multiple high resolution and high frame rate cameras, separating specific camera sets into their own networks (and adding network adapters to servers) can be recommended. However, this done case-by-case, and requires case specific calculations on network load. PTZ control requires a low latency in the network to make dome control as responsive as possible.
