History VIKUV Zrt. Water Prospecting and Drilling Company - as legal successor - was established in 1868 having a continous activity of more than 150 years. International activities In Mongolia we have drilled 500 pcs. wells of 150-300 m depth In Lybia we have drilled 35 pcs. wells of 300 m, Within the framework of the Slovakian thermal water exploration program, VIKUV has executed 62 pcs. geothermal well drillings of 1200 2800 m depth. We have completed 3 water wells in Ethiopia for developping Kobo-Girana Valley region We are currently drilling in Romania, Serbia and Slovakia. Hungarian presence in Ethiopia Project scope: Territorial water supply improvement in Kobo-Girana Valley, Ethiopia (650 km from Addis Ababa) Beneficiary : -Ethiopian Ministry of Water Affairs - Amhara National Regional State Kobo Girana Valley Development Programe Office Contractor: -VIKUV Zrt Sponsors : -Hungarian Government - VIKUV Zrt, (15% of project financing) Financials: - Cost of the project was about USD 800,000

Briefly about Kobo-Girana Valley - located at 650 km north from Addis-Ababa - the region is lacking of surface water - missing pipe-based potable water and irrigation systems

Briefly about Kobo-Girana Valley - the water bases of the Kobo-Girana valley has enough ground potable water, but it can not be used because of the insufficient infrastructural resources. - the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary called for a tender for drilling of 3 water wells with scope of supplying with potable water Abuware village and a 30-ha nearby located irrigation system. - one task of the project was the the theoretical and practical training of the Ethiopean operators and experts in Hungary.

The Project Phases Phase A : Theoretical and practical training of the Ethiopian water experts in Hungary - results: Ethiopian staff of 10 persons trained in Hungary - starting date: 1/09/2007 - closing date : 30/09/2007 Phase B : Drilling new water wells in Kobo-Girana valley - results : drilling & larging of 3 water wells by VIKUV - starting date: 30/07/2008 - closing date : 2/06/2009 Phase C: set up a 30 ha irrigation system at the limits of Abuware village - results : contribution to the water supply of the irrigation system -starting date: 30/07/2008 - closing date: 2/06/2009

Coming back after 2,5 years of operation Due to the irrigation system implemented by VIKUV the whole region has been supplied with exotic vegetables contributing to the increase of the living standard of the region
