Pre-Check To ensure that your machine is properly configured to allow you to use the remote access capabilities of NETLAB+, please verify the following, prior to your first time log in: Latest version of Java installed. http://www.java.com/ Java security modifications (as appropriate for your machine). Java Security Modifications (Microsoft Windows) Follow these steps to reduce the security level in Java on a Microsoft Windows machine: Navigate to the Control Panel. Click on the Java icon. The Java Control Panel will open. Click on the Security tab.

Java Security Modifications (Apple Machines) Follow these steps to reduce the Java security level on an Apple machine: Navigate to System Preferences. o Choose Apple > System Preferences o Open the System Preferences icon from the Applications folder o Click the System Preferences icon on the Dock Click on the Java icon. The Java Control Panel will open. Click on the Security tab.

Accessing the NETLAB+ System Enter the NETLAB+ URL into a web browser. (The screenshot below shows an example using emc.netdevgroup.com. This system was used as an example throughout this guide. The URL that you will be directed to use will vary, depending on curriculum.) Enter your Username and Password.
Change Your Password Upon first login, a welcome screen appears asking for a password change. Enter a new password (for details on password requirements, select show help tips ). Click OK when ready to proceed.
Set Your Email Address if Desired Next, enter an email address to receive alerts/updates from the NETLAB+ administrator. This is optional. Click OK to proceed.
Set Your Time Zone You will be prompted for time zone settings. Select the options appropriate for your local time zone. The settings will effect the options displayed when scheduling a lab reservation. Click OK to finish.
Verify Java On the Remote Access Test page, NETLAB+ will ask for a port test to make sure connectivity can be made between the user and the system. Click Start Remote Access Test.

Click on the side arrow to bring up options associated with the download. Click on Always open files of this type as this will automatically open the JNLP file from now on. [Using Chrome] Now click on the downloaded file to execute it.
Accessing the NETLAB+ System [Using Firefox] When downloading the Java application, be sure to have Open with selected and click OK to download. The downloaded file will then automatically open.
Accessing the NETLAB+ System [Using any web browser with Apple] When attempting to initiate the Java application, security in OS X prevents you from executing the application.
Accessing the NETLAB+ System [Using any web browser with Apple] Keep the window open and navigate through System Preferences > Security & Privacy to give permission to the application. Once opened, click on OK from the previous window with the security message. Notice that on the Security & Privacy window, a message appears at the bottom, click Open Anyway.
