I. Introduction 4 Standard Recovery version 4.5 is one of the most comprehensive data recovery solutions. Empowered by the new unique data recovery technologies this software recognizes and recovers any types of files whether these are multimedia files (sound, movies, pictures), text files (tft, rtf, html etc.), archive files, office applications or data bases. Standard Recovery product is specially designed for lost and deleted files recovery from most popular file systems and storages. Supported file systems include those used in Microsoft Windows, Apple MacOS, Linux, Unix and Novell operating systems, as well as file systems of external storages. The software application supports hard disks, removable storages, disk images, virtual disks of virtual machines, created with virtualization software of major vendors. Standard Recovery version 4 targets individual disks or disk volumes and supports RAID recovery as well. II. Installation 6 Standard Recovery version 4.5 has trial version mode allowing you to test performance capabilities of this software application before you purchase the software itself. The trial version, however, has limited functionality you can recover only files with size below 64KB. Windows Installation To install Standard Recovery version 4.5 your system must have the following requirements: Microsoft Windows 2000/ 2003/XP/ Vista/Windows 7 operating system; Pentium class processor or compatible; 256 MB of shared RAM (at least 1GB is recommended); Below 10 MB of free space available on hard disk (Required for program files installation); Default internet browser. II. Installation 7 Wizard-based installer provides for an easy step-by-step software installation. Warning: The installer will suggest you to install the software to C partition. If your files were lost from C partition Press Browse to choose a different destination for software installation. Installation of the software to the same partition may result in overwriting of your data and cause their permanent damage and loss. After installation is completed you may proceed to work with the software. Linux/BSD Installation To install Standard Recovery version 4.5 your system must have the following requirements: Linux operating system with 2.6.x kernel; FreeBSD version 7 and later or its clones; GLIBC2.6, POSIX threads, X Windows system, libstdc++6 packages availble; Recommended gksu package; Pentium class processor or compatible; 256 MB of shared RAM (at least 1GB is recommended); Below 10 MB of free space available on hard disk (Required for program files installation); Default web browser. Standard Recovery version 4.5 installation steps: Debian/Ubuntu Linux: Download the.deb package from the software web site: http://www.ufsexplorer.com/download.php Open the package with native package manager and process with installation; You may run the software: From Windows Manager main menu (if applicable); With 'ufsxsci' command from command line; Winth 'gksu ufsxsci' command if you want to access local physical drives.

9 All the information displayed in Standard Recovery is organized in two main views: Partition selection view and File system explorer view. This scheme is convenient for use. It allows to easily navigate throughout software dialogs. Partition selection view is the first dialog you see after program launch. File system explorer view is activated for a current partition after selecting Explore function for the selected partition. 1. Partition selection view Partition selection view enables to define and select necessary partition for further data recovery performance. Partition selection view contains Partition selection panel, Information panel, Tool bar for a current element and Main tool bar. Partition selection view appears with software start. After selection of a required partition you may go to File system explorer view. 1.1. Partition selection panel Partition selection panel displays external and internal storage devices mounted on your computer and partitions on these storages in form of Tree elements. Storage element displays a physical storage attached to your computer with its brief description. In Partition selection panel Storage element opens partition(s) the physical storage is logically divided into. Storage element is marked with a hard-drive icon.
10 Partition element displays logical partition of a storage. The element gives brief information about file system, start sector and size of the partition. Partition element is marked with a circle icon which informs about file system status. The icon is green if file system quick test results in intactness and readability of file system on the partition. The icon is yellow if file system quick test results in possible damage of the file system. This damage can be caused by partition formatting or if the partition is a part of a RAIDarray. The icon is red if the software detects problems with file system such as file system unreadability or problems with directories readability. The icon is gray if file system is not detected by the software. This computer and Storage elements are expandable in the Tree. To expand an element press right arrow next to it. To collapse an element press drop-down arrow next to it.
11 1.2. Information panel Information panel is designed for providing detailed information about selected tree element. Information panel displays information about a Tree element selected in Partition selection panel. Information panel becomes active after selection of a required element in Partition selection tree. 1.2.1. 12 System summary provides information about the number of attached physical drives and complex storages as well as opened disk images. Software settings shows temporary files path and registration status of the software. Temporary files path allows to specify the path for the software to save temporary files. The path is marked with a circle icon. Yellow circle stands for Not specified temporary files path. Red circle indicates that the path is invalid. Green circle stands for a specified temporary files path. The path is in this case indicated in the box. To indicate a path or change the path press the button at the box end. Registration status informs about current registration status and allows to change unregistered software use to Registered. A current status is marked with a circle icon. Red icon stands for Unregistered software status. To change a registration status press the button at the box end. It opens License information dialog to insert registration name and registration code. End User License Agreement is contained in this dialog for your information. After registration status is changed to Registered, a registration name box appears in the Information panel. System summary and Software settings titles are collapsible. To collapse a title double-click (-) sign next to the title start. To expand a title double-click (+) sign next to the title start. Information panel elements are highlighted. 13 Storage information contains information about type, name and total capacity of the selected storage. Storage geometry describes geometry of the selected storages. 14 1.2.3. Partitions information Detailed information about a partition becomes available from Information panel after selection of a required Partition element in the Partition selection tree. Partition information contains details about start, end, size, capacity and location of the selected partition. File system indicates file system type and label. Diagnosis status box displays condition of the file system. File system status is marked with a circle icon. The icon is green if file system quick test results in intactness and readability of a file system on the partition. The icon is yellow if file system quick test results in possible damage of the file system. This damage can be caused by partition formatting or if the partition is a part of a RAIDarray. The icon is red if the software detects problems with file system such as file system unreadability or problems with directories readability. The icon is gray if file system is not detected by the software.

Tool bar for a current element Tool bar for a current element contains a set of tools applicable to a selected tree element. For convenience of use all functions necessary for a selected element are combined into these tools. Tool bar for a current element allows to conduct operations on a selected Tree element. Tool bar for a current element becomes available after selection of a required element in Partition selection tree. 1.3.1. This computer element Tool bar for This computer element becomes available after This computer is selected in the Partition selection panel. The following operations are available for This computer element: Refresh refreshes internal and external storages attached to your computer such as flash storages and USB/Firewire-attached hard disks, CD and floppy disks. When selected the tool closes disk images, complex storages or virtual disks opened in the program. The function is activated with Re-detect attached disks option form This computer context menu as well.
16 Open opens a dialog to choose disk image or virtual disk. The function can be activated with Open tool from Main tool bar and with Open disk image from This computer context menu. 1.3.2. Storages Tool bar for a storage becomes active after a required storage is selected in Partition selection panel. The following actions are available for a selected storage: Define partition allows to define a virtual partition by known count sectors and size manually. The function is available from the context menu of a selected storage with Define virtual partition option. See Part III, 1.5. How to recover lost partition.
17 Find partition allows to find lost disk partitions with a scan operation. The function is available from context menu of a selected storage with Find lost partition option. See Part III, 1.5. How to recover lost partition. Backup allows to save image of a disk or a part of a disk to a file. RAW data back-up of a disk is activated with Backup data from this disk button from context menu of a selected storage as well. The button opens Specify data range dialog where you may set a range of disk space for backup. See Part IV, 2.4.1. Saving raw data from a storage for more information. Close removes a selected storage from Partition selection tree in. The option is available from Context menu of a selected storage and after pressing Delete button.
18 1.3.3. Partitions Tool bar for a partition becomes accessible after a required partition is selected in the Partition selection tree. The following actions are available for a selected partition: Explore opens a selected partition in File system explorer view for further operations. This action is available from context menu of a selected partition with Explore file system button as well. Recover allows to proceed to partition scanning for lost files and folders. This action is available from context menu of a selected partition with Recover lost data button as well. See Part III, 2.2. Data recovery for more information. Test function is available for partitions with detected file systems and can be activated with Test button from Tool bar for a current element and with Test files and folders from
19 context menu of a selected partition. File system test allows to examine readability of the directories and files metadata on the source file system. To start file system test press Start test in the File system test dialog. During file system test the software sorts good files and folders into one column. If the software detects any problems with accessibility to a folder or with readability of a file it sorts such folders and files as bad files and folders into another column. A path to each bad file or folder is indicated in the box below the columns. To save file system test result press Save report at the top-right corner. To close File system test dialog press Close. Backup enables to save image of a partition or a part of the partition to a file. RAW data back-up from a partition is activated with Backup data from this partition button from context menu of a selected partition as well. The button opens Specify data range dialog where you may set a range of partition space for backup. See Part III, 2.4.2. Data saving from a partition for more information. Remove deletes a selected partition from Partition selection panel without making any data modifications to the storage. This action is available from context menu of a selected partition as well. 1.4. Main tool bar Main tool bar contains the following tools: Open opens a dialog to choose disk image or virtual disk. The function can be activated with Open tool from Tool bar for a current element and with Open disk image option from This computer context menu. Plugins allows to open external modules such as RAID-Builder. Manual opens manual for Standard Recovery software application.
20 License information opens a dialog to insert registration name and registration code. End User License Agreement is contained in this dialog for your information. About opens a brief description of Standard Recovery software application with links to a web-site for your information. 1.5. How to recover lost partition If you cannot find a disk partition on your computer Define virtual partition and Find lost partition functions will help you detect and recover lost partitions. How to define virtual partition Define virtual partition enables to define a partition for software. The option is applied to a selected storage. If the size and start of the partition are
21 known press Define partition in the Tool bar for a current storage or choose Define virtual partition from the context menu box of a current storage. The button activates Define new partition parameters dialog where you can set start and size sectors of the partition. After the start and size sectors are entered press Define for activation.
22 The program detects file system by a specified storage start. If the file system is not detected, the program gives notice suggesting to change partition parameters. Press No if you are sure that partition parameters were defined correctly. The program will save a new partition to the end of the partition list with Unknown file system type. Yes button returns you to the previous dialog box. If file system is detected the program blocks start and size input boxes. The file system type is in this case displayed in File system type box. After that Label box becomes active for modifications. Press OK to save the partition.
23 In case if a predetermined partition size does not coincide with the size of a found file system the program suggests to define partition by file system size. How to find partition function helps automatically find disk partition if not displayed in the Partition selection panel. Partition search is activated with Find partition button in the Tool bar for a selected storage or Find lost partition from context menu of a selected storage. Find lost partition dialog allows to launch disk scanning operation and activate operations on found partitions after scanning is completed. Find now activates Define scan parameters dialog. Start sector and Count sectors boxes are active for setting a range of disk space for scanning. From the list of file systems select required file system types and press OK button to start scanning. Cancel button will return you to Find lost partition dialog.
24 During scanning operation the software displays all the partitions found on the disk in Find lost partition dialog with information about start, size, label and file system type for each partition.
25 File system status is marked with a circle icon. The icon is green if file system quick test results in intactness and readability of file system on the partition. The icon is yellow if file system test results in possible damage of the file system. The icon is red if the software detects problems with file system such as file system unreadability or problems with directories readability. After scanning is finished the following Tool bar buttons become active for further operations: Find now will scan the storage or its definite part repeatedly. At the same time new scan operation removes scan results of any previous scan operation. The program requires confirmation for new scan operation. Save allows to save a list of partitions for future reference. The list of found partitions will be saved to a selected destination in.ufsxpl format. Note: To avoid any permanent data loss do not save this file to the place where you recover your data from. Load opens a folder containing a file with the list of partitions found by the software. It inserts required list to Find lost partition dialog for further operations. With Use selected button selected partition(s) is (are) entered into the Partition list in Partition selection panel.
26 2. File system explorer view File system explorer view is the main view of the Standard Recovery software application. The view is intended for scanning operations on selected partition, analyzing scan results and saving files and folders. File system explorer view is active for a selected partition. This is the second main view of the software. You may go to File system explorer view from Partition selection view after selecting required par 2.1. File system explorer All information presented in the main dialog is organized in two panels: Tree panel and List panel.
27 Tree panel displays an active partition with its brief description as Tree root and File system virtual directory indicating file system status. File system directory contains folders available from your computer without scanning. Any scan results will appear as Tree virtual directories under File system directory after partition scanning. If a directory is expandable there appears a right-arrow sign next to a selected directory. To expand a directory click the right-arrow sign. To collapse a node press drop-down arrow sign. List panel displays folders and files contained in an active directory after opening it. Folders and files are sorted by file names in descending order starting with folders. To sort both folders and files by name in descending order click Name column header. To sort both folders and files by name in ascending order click Name column header once again. To sort the files and folders by a size, type, date column in descending order click the column header. To sort the files and folders by a size, type, date column in ascending order click the column header once again. 2.1.1. Address bar Address bar helps navigate current locations in Tree directories. For ease of use Address bar in has two views: interactive view and text view. Interactive view allows to move along the Address bar with interactive directory separators. Current tree directory is displayed as the last directory of the path. To move backward to any previous directory click a separator with a directory name.
28 To activate Text view click folder icon at the Address bar start or click whitespace after last folder name. Text view allows to insert a required path into Address bar manually. If the Address bar path is marked correctly the software opens required directories in Tree and List panels. To navigate entered path press Enter. If the Address bar path is marked incorrectly the software keeps the prompt and current directories open. Once correct path is accepted by the software, it will return to Interactive view. To cancel and return to Interactive view press Escape button. To open a history list press drop-down arrow at the Address bar end. The history list is displayed in Text view. Once correct path is selected from the drop-down list, the software will navigate this path and will switch navigation bar to Interactive view.
29 2.1.2. File search box File search box allows to find files in by file name or file extension. For more convenience file search is available as quick and advanced file search. To start quick file search insert file name or file extension or both into File search box (upper-right box in File system explorer view) and press the button at the box end or press Enter. The software will search for indicated file(s) in the current folder and its subfolders. Advanced file search box is activated with Cntrl + F keyboard shortcut that opens Advanced file search box allowing to set file search parameters. The software will search for indicated file(s) in the directory indicated in Search in box. For more detailed information see Part III, 2.3.2. File search by known file name and by file extension and Part III, 2.3.3. Advanced file search.

Main tool bar Main tool bar in File system explorer view includes the following tools: Partitions returns you to Partition selection view that allows to choose a different partition for further operations in. Data recovery Data recovery function allows to reconstruct file system in case of its damage and recover lost, deleted or destructed data from the file system. Data recovery operation can be invoked in Partition selection view with: - Recover button from Tool bar for current partition - Recover lost data option in context menu of selected partition in File system explorer view with: - Recover button from Tool bar - Recover lost data option in context menu of the partition - Recover lost data option in context menu of File system directory 2.2.1. General scan parameters setting General scan parameters dialog allows to assume file system type for the case of its damage and to set a range of partition space for scanning.
32 Recover file system type box allows to set a file system for the partition. If file system is detected its type is displayed in the Recover file system type box. If file system is not detected it is labeled as No file system. To select a file system press drop-down arrow at the box end. If no file system matches your choice select No file system from the list. Start sector and Count sectors boxes are active for modifications to set a range of partition scanning. Test allows to examine readability of the directories and files metadata on the source file system. Press Next button to go to the next step. Cancel button will close the dialog and return you to File system explorer view. Note: When file system is not detected and you select it with Recover file system type box the program will require a confirmation for further operations with the assumed file system. Press Yes to proceed to the next step. Press No to return to General scan parameters dialog.
33 2.2.2. Advanced scan parameters setting Advanced scan parameters setting dialog is the second dialog where you can set parameters for data recovery operation. The allows to specify software tasks for selected file system. The dialog becomes active after general scan parameters are specified. The dialog differs for NTFS, FAT, FAT32, SGI XFS file systems, UFS, UFS (big-endian), Ext2/3, ReiserFS, HFS+ file systems and partitions with not-detected file system. - For NTFS, FAT, FAT32, SGI XFS file systems Advanced scan parameters setting dialog contains a set of data recovery steps and settings as described below. With Detect file system parameters the software will scan the device for data that allows to ascertain file system type. The check-box is always disabled and is deactivated in case if file system is detected by the program. The task is activated by default together with reconstruct the file system task in case if file system is not detected and file system reconstruction is required.
34 With Reconstruct the file system task the software will scan the partition for file system metadata and virtually restore the file system. In cases when file system is detected by the software but files and folders seem to be unread or read incorrectly File system reconstruction is recommended. For not-detected file system this task is activated by default. File system reconstruction result appears in File system explorer view tree as Reconstructed file system virtual directory under File system directory. With Search for deleted files task the software will scan the partition for files metadata and capture deleted, failed or lost metadata for file recovery. This task is offered by the software as a basic operation for cases when file system is detected by the software and you are sure that it wasn't corrupted. Search for deleted files scan result is displayed in main view tree as Deleted files virtual directory under File system directory. Note: For the software to start scan operation you may select between Reconstruct the file system and Search for deleted files tasks or activate both. With Enable IntelliRAW scan task the software will search through the partition for files using file extension identifiers. This operation allows to find files even when file allocation information is unavailable. Enable IntelliRAW scan task is enabled only if Search for deleted files task is selected and IntelliRAW rules count box is filled in. Scan result appears in Detected by type virtual directory under File system directory in File system explorer view tree. The sub-options for this scan type include: Assume deleted files are fragmented finds fragments of a file if it was fragmented during recording of files found with Enable IntelliRAW scan. With this task the software will detect file fragments, separate them from other files and gather file fragments into one single file. IntelliRAW rules count box is available for modifications in Advanced scan parameters setting dialogs for all file systems. Add button opens an open file dialog to add rules from a file. You may add own rules by placing rule files to software installation folder or by adding them with Add option from a different location. The basic set of predefined rules is available in intelliraw.urrs file that is supplied with the software. It's not recommended to modify content of this file or preserve this file before any modification. Clear button will clear the box.
35 - For UFS, UFS (big-endian), Ext2/3, ReiserFS, HFS+ file systems Search for deleted files and Enable IntelliRAW scan are combined into a single Search for deleted files task. With this task the software will do all necessary actions to find and recover a lost file for such file systems. After Search for deleted files task is selected you may add IntelliRAW rules count as described in Advanced scan parameters setting for NTFS, FAT, FAT32, SGI XFS file systems. - No file system When No file system is selected in Recover file system type box (see Part III, 2.2.1. General scan parameters setting), pure IntelliRAW scan operation is available only. The software will scan the partition for lost files focusing on file type identifiers.
36 Pure IntelliRAW scan dialog contains Scan free space only and Assume deleted files are fragmented optional tasks for more detailed file search. With Scan free space only task the software will scan free partition space and find deleted files data to recover files. Assume deleted files are fragmented allows the software to gather file fragments for more correct reconstruction. These two tasks are enabled in cases when the software identifies file system. If the file system is not identified these operations are replaced with Scan entire space task. You should add IntelliRAW rules count to start recovery. Cancel button will cancel data recovery wizard. Start button will start scanning operation. 2.2.3. Scanning operation progress Progress bar shows scanning operation progress for each software task. At the bottom the software estimates operation progress percentage, measures elapsed and estimated time left until operation completion. Progress bar becomes active after launching a selected task. All operations are disabled for the period of task processing. You may abort the operation pressing Stop button in the Progress bar.

General files view For detected file system: The software displays detected file system in a Tree directory with file system name. All the files and folders together with system information directly available from your computer without recovery operation are contained in this directory. For easy navigation through the Tree panel detected file system is displayed in the Address bar as $ sign.
38 For scanning results: After scanning is completed scan results appear in File system explorer view as Tree directories with names corresponding to scan task. For easy navigation through the Tree panel scan results are displayed in the Address bar as Scan N, where N is a scan result sequence number. To open a Tree directory double-click it or select Explore from the context menu. If a Tree directory is expandable there appears a right-arrow sign next to it. At the same time directory contents appear in the list panel. Originally folders and files are sorted in the list panel by name. Alternatively you may modify sort parameters (see 2.1. Main dialog). 2.3.2. File search by known file name and by file extension To find a file by its name enter file name into File search box at the top right corner of File system explorer view.

File search with File search box is carried out in the current folder and its sub-folder. 2.3.3. Advanced file search Advanced search function allows to set parameters for easy and quick file search. Advanced file search dialog can be activated with Cntrl + F keyboard shortcut (for all Tree directories) or from context menu of a selected folder with Find in this folder option (for selected folder). Search in box gives information about file search direction. It shows current folder and is disabled for any modifications. Search for box allows to specify search criteria such as file name or file extension (Part III, 2.3.2. File search by file name and by file extension). File size drop-down list allows to set file size range criteria. Press drop-down arrow to select a necessary range criteria. File size box is active for entering a number of necessary bytes for search size criteria. It is disabled with Doesn't matter selected in the drop-down list. Select Case-sensitive box to include case-sensitive files into search. Select Include folders box to additionally include folders into search. To start advanced file search press Search button in the box or Enter keyboard button. Press Cancel to close the box.
40 2.4. Data saving Saving function allows to save intermediate and end results of data recovery with UFS Explorer Standard Recovery. For convenience of use data saving operation is available for a storage, partition, scan result, folder and file. Warning: All data saving operations should be conducted to a destination different from that you recover your data from. Otherwise, this may cause data overwriting and data permanent loss. 2.4.1. Raw data from a storage Data saving is activated with Backup button in Tool bar for selected storage and with Backup data from this disk option in context menu of a selected storage. This function allows to make RAW data backup from storage to a file. To make a raw data backup press Backup in the box or Enter. The software opens a file save dialog for selection of data backup destination. The data will be saved to a file with *.img extension. Data start and Data size boxes are active for modifications. They allow to set a range of disk space for data back-up. 41 2.4.2. Data from a partition Data backup function allows to make a RAW backup from a partition. 42 2.4.3. A scan result Scan result saving operation can be activated with Save this recovery result option from context menu of a recovery result. The software opens a file save dialog to select a saving destination folder. To load a scan result into select Load a recovery result from context menu of Partition or File system directory in Tree panel. To destroy a scan result select Destroy this recovery result from context menu of an active scan result. 2.4.4. A folder Folder saving can be activated with Copy to button from context menu of an active folder in Tree and List panels. The software opens a Copy to folder dialog to select copying destination. Before saving a folder the software allows to estimate size of data contained in the folder. To preview data size select Evaluate data size from context menu of an active folder.
43 Evaluated data size message box gives information about general number of files and about total size of files. For your information Evaluated data size message box contains details about volume of space the folder will take on the target file system.
44 Note: Software trial version is limited to saving files below 64KB. To make a copy of a folder the contents of which exceed 64KB it's required to enter a registration code in License information dialog (Main tool bar in Partition selection view and File system explorer view). You may preview folder properties selecting Properties option from context menu of a selected folder. Object properties message box provides file system data for a selected folder. Status bar at the bottom displays status and function for a selected element. To collapse elements double-click (-) sign next to File system data title. To expand elements double-click (+) sign next to File system data title. 2.4.5. A file To save a file select Copy to in context menu of an active file. The software opens a file save dialog to select a destination folder. To preview a file before saving select Open in context menu of an active file. For file opening the software copies it to a temporary folder. If software settings were modified the software gives a warning message about necessity to check if temporary folder path

You may preview file properties selecting Properties option from context menu of a selected file. Object properties message box provides file system data for a selected file. Data recovery with consists of three basic steps: 1.Explore file system of a required partition 2.Analyze a recovery result 3.Save a recovery data To start data recovery operation select a storage partition in Partition selection view. If required partition is not displayed in the partition list proceed to 1. Restore partitions. If required partition is displayed in the partition list with Unknown file system proceed to 2. Detect file system. If required partition is displayed in the partition list with file system name proceed to 3. Recover files and folders.

Restore partitions If partition is not found in the list of partitions in Partition selection panel partition restoring operation is required. suggests two possible ways for partition restoring: automatic data search and partition area definition. 1.1. Find partition Find partition is an operation during which the software scans a storage space for partition attributes and separates partitions on the storage. This function requires setting of scan parameters only and provides for operations on a found partition described in Part III, 1.5. How to recover lost partition. Reconstruct file system For detected file system to ascertain file system readability select Reconstruct the file system box in the Advanced scan parameters setting dialog. For Unknown file system the task is activated automatically. Together with Reconstruct the file system box you may optionally activate deleted files search tasks. Search of deleted files and folders is activated with Search for deleted files check-box in the Advanced scan parameters setting dialog. With this task the software will scan the partition for metadata of deleted files and folders. All the files and folders found by the software with this task appear in Deleted files tree directory of File system explorer view. Together with Search for deleted files task you may activate Reconstruct file system check-box, that may provide for more certain files search and recovery. Detect files by type File search by type is activated with Enable IntelliRAW scan task in the Advanced scan parameters setting dialog only after Search for deleted files task is activated and IntelliRAW rules count box is filled in. With this task the software will scan the whole partition space for deleted files detecting file signatures. This allows to make a more advanced search of deleted files and folders. Files virtually reconstructed by type appear as scan result in Detected by type tree directory in File system explorer view. More detailed information is in Part III, 2.2.2. Find lost or deleted files and folders for UFS, UFS (bigendian), Ext2/3, ReiserFS, HFS+ file systems For UFS, UFS (big-endian), Ext2/3, ReiserFS, HFS+ file systems Search for deleted files and Enable IntelliRAW scan are combined into a single Search for deleted files operation activated with Search for deleted files task in Advanced scan parameters setting dialog. IV. Data recovery 55 3.3. File search with No file system If a required file system does not match any of the above mentioned, assume file system type as No file system. For No file system pure IntelliRAW scan operation is available only. The software will scan the partition for lost files focusing on file type identifiers. If the software can read a file system scan free space only and assume deleted files are fragmented tasks are enabled. With scan free space only the software will scan partition free space for file type identifiers. With assume deleted files are fragmented the software will detect file fragments and distribute them among detected files. More detailed information is in Part III, 2.2.1. For quick view the program creates a temporary folder for saving a file and opens a selected file for preview with a required software application available on your computer. The software allows to preview a file before saving. This function is activated with Open in context menu of an active file or by activating a file. Warning:Temporary folder should be created at a destination different from that you recover your data from. Otherwise, this may cause data overwriting and data permanent loss.
IV. Data recovery 58 4.3. Save recovered file Copy to task allows to save folders and files to a required destination. The task is available from context menu of an active file. End User License Agreement Software licence agreement for Standard Recovery Edition version 4 This Software License Agreement (hereinafter referred to as "Agreement") is a legal agreement between you, and LLC "SysDev Laboratories" (hereinafter referred to as "Owner") for the computer program, entitled Standard Recovery and its derivate entitled Raise Data Recovery, Shareware Version (product version 4) including any enclosed documentation and/or accompanying items (hereinafter referred to as "Software"). This Agreement states the terms and conditions upon which Owner offers to license the Software. This Agreement is binding upon you as well as anyone taking any action with regard to your copy of the Software at your direction or not. This applies to any third party as well. You should carefully read the following terms and conditions before using this Software. By using the software in any way (including software installation, copying exploitation and so on), you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the software. Instead, return it to the retailer for a refund or credit.

Business Licence For office and business use, subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement, Owner grants you the following limited rights: exploit (subject to paragraph 4 of this Agreement), advertise and make the copy of the Software for backup purposes. Any other rights are reserved by Owner. You are granted to use the software for unlimited time period (subject to paragraph 10 of this agreement), on any computers, owned by you, however Owner reserves the right to change this condition for further Software versions. You are Not granted to install Software to the computers of your customers. These rights apply to single Software edition only and to software with major version 4. Any license to software product with mojor version other then 4 does not mean you have license for the Software. License for Raise Data Recovery product does not mean you have license for product and vice versa, as well as license to specific Raise Data Recovery software edition does not mean you have license for different Raise Data Recovery software edition. To be eligible for Business License use, you have to pay Software Business License registration fee and activate your software copy with Software Registration Code (paragraph 1.d). 1.d. Software Registration Code Software Registration Code is the special sequence of symbols that along with software Registration Name or alone could be used to identify user as eligible user for software License and to turn off Software Trial Limits. Only the Author (see paragraph 2), Owner or authorized resellers are granted to issue, publish or pass to end-users or third-parties any Software Registration Codes. Any unauthorized Registration Code publishing or transfer are the subject for License termination.
V. Software Activation 63 The Owner has right to change registration codes as part of Software updates. To update the Software in this case (subject of paragraph 6) you have to request Owner for registration code update. Any Software License could be verified with Owner for validity basing on Software Registration Code. 2. Copyright. The Software is copyrighted by Bogdan G. Shulga (the Author) as stated in Certificate of Copyright registration #23163, issued by State Department of Intellectual Property of Ukraine. Owner is authorized to use, modify and sub-license the Software under agreements with the Author. Author's and Owner's rights are protected by Ukrainian copyright laws, other copyright laws and international treaties. Owner reserves all the rights regarding the Software granted by the Author. Owner authorizes usage of the Software only in accordance with the terms and conditions stated in this Agreement. You may not remove any copyright or proprietary notices from the Software. 3. General Usage. Neither you, anyone at your direction, nor any third party, shall take the following actions with regard to the Software, or any portion thereof to work around any technical limitations in the Software, modify, change, decompile, recompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, adapt, create derivative works, translate or reproduce the Software. In any event, you will notify Owner of any information derived from reverse engineering or such activities and the results thereof will constitute confidential information of Owner which may be used only in connection with the Software. If you seek interface information you should initially approach Owner. 4. Commercial Usage. Any commercial (for-profit) use is prohibited (Unless you have a different license Agreement, signed by Owner and allowing commercial use). Under no circumstances shall you, the end-user, be permitted, allowed or authorized to commercially exploit the

Distribution. Refer to the "Shareware Version Distribution Licence" document if you want to distribute the Software. In addition you are also bound by the terms and conditions of this Agreement. 6. Updates. Owner reserves the right to update the contents of the Software and its associated files, documentation, licence terms and/or other elements, at its discretion from time to time, without the consent of or any obligation to, any licensed users or distributors. Unless this License terminates, you have rights to update your software copy for free of charge within same major version 4 (4.1, 4.2.. etc.) 7. No Warranty. The Software is provided "as-is". No warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to, implied warranties, of merchantability or fitness for any purpose with respect to the software are made as to it or any medium it may be on. Owner does not warrant that the operation of the software will be error free or meet any requirements. the warranty set forth above is in lieu of all other warranties whether oral or written. No one but Owner or Author is authorised to make modifications or additions to this warranty. 8. Remedies. Owner will not be liable and will provide no remedy above the amount you paid for the Software (if any) for lost data, lost savings, lost profits, special, incidental, consequential, punitive, indirect or any other damages arising from negligence, strict liability, breach of warranty, breach of contact, even after notice of the possibility of such damages or for any claim by any other party.
V. Software Activation 65 9. Transfer. Nether your License nor any part or portion of it shall be assigned or sublicensed. 10. Term. This license and your right to use the Software terminates automatically if you violate any part of this Agreement without notice from Owner. You can also terminate this license at any time. You agree upon termination to destroy all copies of the Software immediately. Upon termination Owner may also enforce any rights provided by law. 11. Indemnification. You hereby agree to indemnify, hold harmless and defend Owner, his family, relatives, licensees, sub-licensees, distributors and lawyers against any and all damages, losses, claims, courses of action, lawsuits, liabilities, judgments and all expenses arising from, resulting to, or in connection with a breach of this Agreement by you and arising from, relating to, or in connection with your use or non-use of the Software. 12. Restricted Rights. The Software and any related documentation is provided with restricted and limited rights. Use, duplication and disclosure by U.S. Government is subject to restrictions as set forth in the subdivision (b)(3)(ii) of the Rights in Technical Data and Computer Software Clause at 252.227-7013. If you are using this software outside the U.S. you agree to be bound by the applicable law in your country. 13. Survival. Should any provision of this Agreement be held to be void, invalid, unenforceable or illegal by a court, the validity and enforceability of the other provisions shall not be affected thereby. If any provision is determined to be unenforceable, you agree to a modification of such provision to provide for enforcement of the provision's intent, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
V. Software Activation 66 Failure of a party to enforce any provision of this Agreement shall not constitute or be construed as a waiver of such provision or the right to enforce the provision. The following provisions shall survive the expiration or early termination of this Agreement: paragraphs 2., 3., 4. and 11 14. Entire Agreement. This Agreement constitutes the entire Agreement between you, and Owner and supersedes any prior written or oral agreement concerning the Software. Owner is not bound by any action, statements, or any provisions made by anyone else. No modification or change in this Agreement shall be valid or binding upon Owner unless in writing. 15. Applicable Law. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the Ukraine. You agree to jurisdiction and venue in the courts located in Donetsk, Ukraine for all claims, disputes and litigation arising under or related to this Agreement. The export of this product is governed by Ukrainian export regulations. By using the software you acknowledge that you have read and understood this agreement and you agree to be bound by this agreement's terms and conditions. You also agree that this agreement is the complete and exclusive statement of the rights and liabilities of the parties and supersedes all proposals or prior agreements, oral or written and any other communication between the parties relating to the subject Matter of this agreement. Third-party modules that could be bundled with the software and are subject to separate license terms that are not covered under this agreement. Any such separate license terms are provided in a text file accompanying this individual third-party module. If you do not agree with the terms and conditions of this Agreement or do not understand any of them you should un-install and destroy your copy of the Software immediately.
