Introduction 1. Advocacy & Legal Services 1 The Miami Community Services resource guide was developed by the University of Miami collaboration with community partners. At the University of Miami, the collaboration included three divisions of the Leonard Miller School of Medicine: The Jay Weiss Center for Social Medicine and Health Equity, the Disparities and Community Outreach Core at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Division of Family Medicine. The community partners are members of the Liberty City Community Advisory Board (CAB) and the Overtown Community Advisory Board, both of which are made up of individuals who work and live in the community. Based on CAB members concern about the need for information about health and social services, a subcommittee was formed to develop this comprehensive health and social service resource guide for Miami Dade County. This edition of the Miami Community Services was published by Miller School of Medicine s Jay Weiss Center for Social Medicine and Health Equity. Editors Shelly Baer, LCSW Jay Weiss Center for Social Medicine & Health Equity Moravia Rodriguez, MD, MPH Disparities and Community Outreach Core, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center Melissa Yanes, MSW Division of Family Medicine Laverne Holliday, Curley s House of Style, Inc.
