DOOR INFORMATION LEAD TIMES Lead times vary based on the style and species of door that is ordered. Custom lead times will be given at the time of quoting. BORE SPECIFICATIONS Bore dimensions - Deadbolt bore dimensions - 2 1 /8 diameter x 2 3 /8 backset (standard) 2 1 /8 diameter x 2 3 /4 backset (optional) 2 1 /8 diameter x 2 3 /8 backset (standard) 2 1 /8 diameter x 2 3 /4 backset (optional) CARE & FINISHING Because maintaining proper moisture content is so critical with solid wood doors, it is recommended that extreme care be taken when handling unfinished doors by following these guidelines to minimize damage: Condition job site environment prior to delivery. Deliver door(s) to building site after plaster or cement is dry. If doors are stored at job site for more than two weeks, all edges should be sealed. Avoid extreme variances in environmental conditions. Avoid direct sunlight. Protect doors from dirt, water and other jobsite hazards. Store in a dry environment. Store in a well ventilated building. Cover the door to keep clean, but allow air circulation. Handle with clean gloves. Do not drag doors across one another or across other surfaces. Door packaging should remain on delivered doors until ready for finishing. 2 4 Phone 8 0 0. 9 8 2. 7 4 0 4
DOOR INFORMATION FIELD FINISHING 1. Before finishing, make sure the interior building is at a normal humidity level. Make sure the doors have stabilized to a level moisture content. 2. Prior to finishing, use a 150-grit abrasive over the entire surface of the door. This process is used to remove all scuffs, marks, scratches, raised grain and moisture exposure effects that may occur during the handling, transporting and storage of the door. 3. If the door will be exposed to the direct sunlight, avoid dark stains and paints to reduce warpage. 4. For poplar doors, a medium-to-dark stain is recommended. Consult a professional regarding finishing techniques for various species. 5. All exposed wood surfaces must be sealed, including the top and bottom edges. 6. The utility or structural strength of the door must not be impaired in the fitting of the door or through the application of hardware. 7. For all standard height interior doors, use three (3) hinges. All doors 7 6 or higher require four (4) hinges. Allow a fitting clearance of 1/16 on the hinge side and 1/8 on the lock side. 8. Before finishing, remove handling marks or effects of exposure to moisture with a thorough, final sanding over all surfaces of the door using 3/0 and 5/0 sandpaper and clean before applying sealer or finish. Some species of wood contain a chemical (oak, for example) which reacts unfavorably with certain finishes. When possible, the surface should be tested for such unfavorable reactions. Application of a sealer before finishing will usually prevent this difficulty. The full beauty of wood is best emphasized by the use of a satin or semi-gloss finish. 9. Immediately after fitting, or cutting for closures, weatherstrip and/or threshold, and before hanging any interior door on the job, the entire door, including the top and bottom edges, must receive an application of a primer and two coats of a good grade paint, varnish or lacquer. Adequate drying time must be allowed between coats. For job-site finishing, do not use a water-thinned paint unless an oil base prime coat is first applied. w w w. w h o l e s a l e h a r d w o o d i n t. c o m 2 5
WHI SOLID DOOR WARRANTY Wholesale Hardwood Interiors warrants its solid hardwood interior doors for a period of (1) year from the original date of purchase. All doors are guaranteed to be free from defects at the time of delivery by a WHI truck. This warranty shall only be extended to the first retail purchaser of the door(s). WARRANTY GUIDELINES In the event a defect is discovered after a door(s) has been delivered to the jobsite, WHI must be notified within one week of delivery to determine what option will be used to resolve the claimed defect. Wholesale Hardwood Interiors, Inc. may, at its discretion, either: a) Repair door(s) without charge. b) Replace door(s) without charge. c) Refund the full purchase price upon return of the door(s) to WHI. If the claimed nonconformity is warpage, Wholesale Hardwood Interiors, Inc., may defer repairing or replacing the product for a period of up to twelve (12) months from the date of claim or the date when the product was installed as it is not uncommon for a temporary warp condition to occur as the door adjusts to local temperature and humidity conditions. This deferral will not be counted against the warranty period. EXCLUSIONS The following shall not be considered defects in material and/or not covered under this warranty: 1. Doors wider than (3) three feet or taller than (8) eight feet are manufactured and delivered with No Warranty. 2. Door jamb improperly installed creating a door closure issue. 3. Doors painted a dark color and exposed to sunlight. 4. Warp shall not be considered a defect unless it exceeds 1/8 on 6 8 or shorter doors and 1/4 on 8 0 or shorter doors in the plane of the door. The term warp shall include bow, cup and twist. In measuring the amount of warp present in a door, the following method shall be used: Bow, cup and twist shall be measured by placing a straight edge, taut wire or string on the suspected concave face of the door at any angle (i.e. horizontal, vertical or diagonal) with the door in its installed position. The measurement of bow, cup and twist shall be made at the point of maximum distance between the straight edge and the face of the door. 5. Variations or unsatisfactory results in gloss level, texture or any appearance resulting from the field application of paint or any other finishing material. 6. Natural variations in the color or texture of the door. 7. Pre-hanging which was not done by Wholesale Hardwood Interiors, Inc. 2 6 Phone 8 0 0. 9 8 2. 7 4 0 4
WHI SOLID DOOR WARRANTY 8. Damage caused by others or by a cause beyond the control of Wholesale Hardwood Interiors, Inc., including, but not limited to: damage caused by misuse, abuse, accident, mishandling, or by fire, flood, earthquake, storm, tornado or other acts of nature. Misuse of a door includes, but is not limited to, using a door for exterior use or exposed to direct sunlight. 9. Attempts to repair WHI products by anyone other than Wholesale Hardwood Interiors, Inc. 10. Surface checks that are less than 1/32 in width and/or 2 in length. 11. Panel movement (shrinkage) of 1/8 or less. Temperature and humidity may cause the wood panels in your door to shrink, leaving an unstained line along the panel edge. The panels in your door have been designed to float. 12. Any buildup of finish that prohibits panels from floating, as they are designed to do. 13. No finishing, labor or materials. (Warranties cover product repair or replacement only.) 14. Door not finished within two weeks of WHI delivery to job site. 15. Color, texture and surface variations are not considered defects. 16. Failure to seal and protect all (6) surfaces and edges during the immediate hanging or finishing of the door, resulting in defects. WARRANTY CLAIMS AND RETURNS In the event a warranty claim and return must be pursued, the following guidelines must be followed to satisfactorily resolve your claim: Contact WHI immediately upon determination of a defect. WHI will determine what action will be taken: repair the defective door(s), replace the defective door(s) or refund your purchase price upon door(s) return to WHI. No on-site work to repair the defective door(s) will be authorized without the prior approval of WHI. Door(s) returned to WHI must be accompanied with the proper return authorization paperwork. Door(s) must be packaged properly to ensure that no additional damage is caused to the door during transportation. A door(s) covered under our door warranty will be promptly addressed for a quick resolution. Once the door(s) has been examined, it will progress through our manufacturing process to repair or replace the product. If WHI has determined a refund of the purchase price will be our course of action, a refund will be credited as soon as the door is received and the defect is confirmed. All warranties are based upon tolerances allowed within the industry standards of acceptability. WHI takes pride in the quality that is manufactured within its facility. We take the same pride in examining your claim. We want our customers to have the quality they expect and we guarantee. w w w. w h o l e s a l e h a r d w o o d i n t. c o m 2 7
