MICROSOFT WORD 2013 Level I Word processing software used to create, edit, format, save and print text documents such as college papers or business related documents. 1. To open Microsoft Word, go to Start / Programs / Microsoft Office 2013 / Word 2013. The Main Selection / Template / Recent page will be visible, then simply click on Blank Document 2 P a g e

The Quick Access toolbar can easily be customized by a right click on the File Menu then selecting Customize Quick Access Toolbar The Quick access toolbar can also be customized by clicking on the dropdown arrow from the toolbar itself. 4 P a g e

2. The File menu has a new sleek look with easy access panel and properties page similar to the previous version. To Create a new Document click on the File Menu and select New. 5 P a g e

A New Document Window will pop up; where you can pick from a blank document or a variety of impressive templates. To open a document, go to File select Open and choose a desired location: As you can see you are able to view Recent Documents, All new access SkyDrive files and browse your computer. Once done simply click on desired document to open. Your Account 6 P a g e

To save your Word Document for the first time, go to File Menu and select Save or Save as. Then select the desired location. Your Account You will notice a new Document Save As pop up window simply select Save Document Using Application Dialog and select OK. 7 P a g e

To print a document select Print from the File Menu all options can be found here: Number of Copies, Printer Selection, Page Settings and Setup. (Users will also see a preview on the right hand side panel) 8 P a g e

To Password Protect your Document, from the File Menu Click the drop down arrow from the Protect Document button from the Info section and select Encrypt with Password. Simply enter a desired Password keeping in mind to read the Caution Section and select OK, Reconfirm the password and click OK to accept. The Password can easily be removed by going back to these steps and deleting the **********. The document will then have no password. To modify the color scheme of your Word Office work space click on Options from the bottom of the File Menu list. Then select from the three colors schemes available. 9 P a g e

4. When a word is spelled incorrectly in a document, by default a squiggly red line appears to let you know of a misspelling. To correct the spelling right click on the word choose from the list of recommendations to possible corrections. 10 P a g e

NEW LOOK for the F7 Keyboard shortcut This will initialize the full Spelling and Grammar window, which will now appear on the right window pane. 5. The Home Tab is the second tab located on the ribbon it emphasizes the basic editing tools divided into 5 Groups or Sections: The Clip Board, Font, Paragraph, Styles and Editing. a. The Clipboard. Users can Copy, Cut, Paste and use the Format Painter. Users must first select the desired text and choose from the options below. 11 P a g e

b. The Font group allows users to modify the text on the document, once again the desired text must be selected before choosing from the options below. A great feature is the preview feature, when a user hovers over the different choices the selected text automatically displays a preview allowing the user to see before applying. c. The Paragraph Group allows users to add Bullet Points, Align Text, Specify Line Spacing, Sorting, Show and Hide paragraph formatting symbols, Shading, Borders and indenting. These options are great to modify a document and have it be presentable to its audience. d. The Styles Group allows the user to select a predefined document style, each selection once chosen will modify the text in the document to follow that format such as Headings and Text formats, these are helpful for companies that like to stay consistent with a preferred style. 12 P a g e

e. The Editing Group is a great way to locate and replace text from a full document This group efficiently allows the user to automatically browse through the document and locate specific text. 7. The View Tab allows the user to change and modify the look of the screen. The show group allows the user to show or hide: The Ruler, Grid Lines and Navigation Pane Ruler 13 P a g e
