HEALTHCARE INFORMATICS: For its future and yours. For Our World: Information technology is advancing at breathtaking speeds. Government compliance regulations mandate that healthcare systems be paperless by 2015. These factors contribute to making health informatics a burgeoning field in which career opportunity is growing substantially faster than most occupations. For All: Adelphi University is one of the only institutions to consider applicants from outside the healthcare and IT industries for its online MSHI program. Our faculty of industry experts recognize that the current healthcare model is undergoing significant change. In response, we take an inclusive approach in every element of the program from welcoming career changers to designing a curriculum that integrates healthcare, business and technology. For Opportunity: According to a 2012 report by Jobs for the Future, postings for healthcare informatics jobs have risen 36 percent within the last four years. In contrast, general job postings were only up six percent, and other healthcare jobs only nine percent, over that same four-year period. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that health informatics is growing faster than most occupations, confirming the need for more health informatics professionals.
