SDI-No.: 150 4079 050 E Issue: 03/2001 EP-1110-700x (EP-1110) Electro-Pneumatic Transducer General: These service and data information sheets (in brief SDI) are operating instructions for the safe installation and operation of the EP-1110-700x (EP-1110) Electro-Pneumatic Transformer. Should difficulties occur during installation which, cannot be solved with the help of this SDI please ask your supplier for further information. These SDI are in accordance with the relevant EN safety standards, regulations and control boards of the Federal Republic of Germany. When operating the valve-actuator outside the Federal Republic of Germany, it is the responsibility of the control system administrator or operator to ensure that valid national control standards are met. The manufacturer maintains all rights for technical changes and improvements at any time. Usage of this SDI assumes adequate qualifications (see Qualified Personnel below) Operators are to receive instructions in accordance with this SDI. Qualified personnel These are persons conversant with the erection, installation, commissioning, operation and service of the product and in possession of the respective qualifications through their activities and functions, e.g.: Instruction about and obligation to maintain adherence to all operative regional / internal ordinances and requirements, conditional to application. Training or instruction in accordance with standards of safety in maintenance and utilisation of adequate safety- and protective equipment. Training in first aid, etc. (See TRB 700). Application: The EP-1110-700x is an Electro-pneumatic transducer and serves as the coupling between electronic and pneumatic control units. It functions on the moving coil principle. Danger: Safe operation of this equipment is only ensured when installed commissioned and serviced by qualified personnel in compliance with warning references in this SDI. In addition, the general installation- and safety regulations for systems, and the professional use of tools and safety equipment must be guaranteed. Observe unconditionally during all work. 150 4079 050 E 3 Description: The Transducer consists of a moving coil system (1), a balanced lever system (2), the pneumatic feedback system (3), the nozzle (4), and the pneumatic amplifier (5). + 6 2 7 4 3 8 Only EP-1110-7002 and EP-1110-7004 5 B SA B = Air supply SA = Output signal The transducer is capable of comparing very small forces. The power in a moving coil with a current running through it, inside a permanent magnet, is balanced by a pneumatic compensation system through a friction free lever balanced on a fulcrum. Under the influence of the electrical input signal the turning moment of the lever, proportional to the input signal, works against the nozzle output. An output signal is fed to the feedback system through the amplifier (5) circuited behind the nozzle (4) until the turning moments are balanced. The feedback system (3) creates an opposing turning moment on the lever until the forces are balanced. Just so is the output signal proportional to the input signal. The amplifiers special construction allows minute lever movements. It contains an adjustable damper for adjusting to attached volumes.. The spring (6) is used to set the 0 point. The measuring range can be set through a potentiometer (7). Note: The spring (8) is used to set the start-point only the EP-1110-7002 and EP-1110-7004 transducer models. D 9

To do this the electrical connection must also be removed from its terminal. The range setting is adjusted by potentiometer.
