SAFETY WARNING BDS Suspension Co. recommends this system be installed by a professional technician. In addition to these instructions, professional knowledge of disassembly/ reassembly procedures and post installation checks must be known. PRODUCT SAFETY WARNING Certain BDS Suspension products are intended to improve off-road performance. Modifying your vehicle for off-road use may result in the vehicle handling differently than a factory equipped vehicle. Extreme care must be used to prevent loss of control or vehicle rollover. Failure to drive your modified vehicle safely may result in serious injury or death. BDS Suspension Co. does not recommend the combined use of suspension lifts, body lifts, or other lifting devices. You should never operate your modified vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Always drive your modified vehicle at reduced speeds to ensure your ability to control your vehicle under all driving conditions. Always wear your seat belt. PRE-INSTALLATION NOTES 1. Special literature required: OE Service Manual for model/year of vehicle. Refer to manual for proper disassembly/ reassembly procedures of OE and related components. 2. Adhere to recommendations when replacement fasteners, retainers and keepers are called out in the OE manual. 3. Larger rim and tire combinations may increase leverage on suspension, steering, and related components. When selecting combinations larger than OE, consider the additional stress you could be inducing on the OE and related components. 4. Post suspension system vehicles may experience drive line vibrations. Angles may require tuning, slider on shaft may require replacement, shafts may need to be lengthened or trued, and U-joints may need to be replaced. 5. Secure and properly block vehicle prior to installation of BDS Suspension components. Always wear safety glasses when using power tools. 6. If installation is to be performed without a hoist, BDS Suspension Co. recommends rear alterations first. 7. Due to payload options and initial ride height variances, the amount of lift is a base figure. Final ride height dimensions may vary in accordance to original vehicle attitude. Always measure the attitude prior to beginning installation. POST-INSTALLATION WARNINGS 1. Check all fasteners for proper torque. Check to ensure for adequate clearance between all rotating, mobile, fixed, and heated members. Verify clearance between exhaust and brake lines, fuel lines, fuel tank, floor boards and wiring harness. Check steering gear for clearance. Test and inspect brake system. 2. Perform steering sweep to ensure front brake hoses have adequate slack and do not contact any rotating, mobile or heated members. Inspect rear brake hoses at full extension for adequate slack. Failure to perform hose check/ replacement may result in component failure. Longer replacement hoses, if needed can be purchased from a local parts supplier. 3. Perform head light check and adjustment. 4. Re-torque all fasteners after 500 miles. Always inspect fasteners and components during routine servicing. rev. 9/27/2016 55366 Page 1

This may or may not fit other company s designs. Several features must be met in order to install this kit. Track bar must be relocated up at the axle a minimum of 2-1/2 There must be at least 2-1/2 of additional bump stop added to keep brackets from contacting steering components. Notes do not apply to 99-04 WJ 4" kit. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. Park the vehicle on a clean, flat surface and block the rear wheels for safety. Be sure the front wheels are pointing straight ahead. 2. Remove the factory steering stabilizer cylinder from the axle and tie rod mounts. Discard cylinder and hardware. 3. Remove the factory tie rod bracket. On 2007-09 models the bracket is mounted with u-bolts, on 2010-up models the bracket is a clamps style. For the newer models, remove the bolt and slide the bracket to the passenger's side tie rod. Pry it open slightly and remove. 4. Install the new center stabilizer bracket on the axle tube so it is slid up tight against the differential housing (Fig 1). Loosely fasten the bracket to the axle tube with provided 3/8 u-bolts, nuts and 3/8 washers. Fig. 1 Page 2 55366

5. Loosely attach the provided driver s and passenger s side tie rod brackets to the tie rod. Position the brackets so they offset toward the tire and bend down as they go toward the front of the vehicle (Fig 2). Position the brackets on the underside of the tie rod and attach with 5/16 u-bolts, nuts and washers. On 2010-up models, use the (2) larger 1-5/8" wide u-bolts on the driver's side. Fig. 2 6. Position of the tie rod brackets so they are about 1/8 away from the tie rod end adjuster clamps. Snug the u-bolts to hold the bracket so that the cylinder mounting tab is parallel to the ground. 7. Install the provided shock studs (included with the shocks) in each of the tie rod brackets (Fig 3) and torque the mounting nut to 35 ft-lbs. Fig. 3 8. Lightly grease and install the provided bushings in the stabilizer cylinder eyes. Also install the provided steel sleeves in the body end eye of the stabilizers only. 9. Attach the body end of the stabilizer cylinders (end with steel sleeves installed) to the center stabilizer bracket. Run the provided 1/2" x 3" bolts from the back side of the center bracket (no washer on bolt). Install the (2) provided spacer sleeves (YJTC5) on the bolts followed by the stabilizer cylinders. (Fig 4) Fasten with 7/16 USS washers and nuts. Torque the stabilizer bolts to 35 ft-lbs. Note: when the cylinders are installed on a JK, the cylinders will be extended 5" when the wheels are centered. 55366 Page 3

Fig. 4 10. Adjust the center stabilizer bracket so that it sets about 3/8 above the tie rod (Fig 1) and tighten the 3/8 u-bolts to 35 ft-lbs. Note: Ensure that the bracket is against the differential housing before tightening. 11. Install the opposite end of the stabilizer cylinder to the tie rod bracket stud and fasten with the supplied nut and washers (Fig 5). Torque nut to 30 ft-lbs. Fig. 5 12. With both cylinders installed, check the positioning of the tie rod brackets to ensure the cylinders run parallel with the tie rod. (Fig 6A/6B) Perform a full steering sweep to make sure the cylinders do not bottom out. Torque the 5/16 u-bolts to 20-25 ft-lbs. Page 4 55366

Fig. 6A (99-04 Jeep Grand Cherokee Shown) Fig. 6B (07 Jeep Wrangler JK Shown) 13. Check for appropriate clearance of all other suspension components in relation to the stabilizer system. This system was developed on a vehicle with a 4 BDS Suspension lift system installed. Other manufacturer/lift setups may vary. Rotate steering clamps up, rotate the clamps only - not the adjusting sleeve, this will eliminate any chance of interference with stabilizers. (Fig 7) 14. Check all hardware for proper torque. 15. Check hardware after 500 miles. Fig. 7 NOTICE TO DEALER/INSTALLER These instructions, the warning card, and included decals must be given to the owner of this BDS Suspension product. For questions, technical support and warranty issues relating to this BDS Suspension product, please contact your distributor/installer before contacting BDS Suspension directly.
