1. Led IN The ewon program drives this led when it detects a 1 level on the DI input pin. If the ewon firmware is not running, this led may remain low even if the DI input is at level 1 (for example during boot time) 2. Led OUT The led is driven by the ewon program. 2.1. During boot time At power on, the led is OFF. As soon as the boot loader has finished loading the firmware and the firmware boots, the led is switched ON. This indicates the the boot loader and the firmware are present and loadable. 2.2. During normal operation the ewon will driver the OUT led at the same time it drives the DO. The OUT Led and DO output are not connected electrically, consistency is maintained by software. 3. Led LINK Indicates that the ewon ethernet controller has recognized a valid Ethernet link. Valid ethernet links definitions include: 10MBits 100MBits FullDuplex Half Duplex FullDuplex Half Duplex Link detection is automatic. Page 1/8
4. Led ACT Blinks when the ewon emits an ethernet packet. 5. Led SERIAL Led is set to ON when the ewon starts transmitting data, it goes OFF when the ewon has finished to transmit. So the led is on during serial emissions. 6. Led MDM The MDM led goes GREEN when the modem negotiation is finished and the modem is connected. The led goes OFF when the modem is disconnected. The led is driven by software, it is not directly connected to the modem 'Data Carrier Detect' 7. Led SECURITY This led is only present on VPN ewon. The following scenarios exist for this led. The scenario depends only on the ewon configuration: Scenario OFF Blink ond GREEN ond OFF Solid GREEN Description Allow all traffic is selected Discard all but VPN and initiated or Discard all but VPN and initiated and PING WAN interface is not connected Page 2/8
8. Led POWER Directly driven by power supply, this les is ON when power is applied. REM: If voltage is not sufficient the LED may be ON but the device may not boot or my reboot occasionally. In other words, this led is not an indication that power supply is valid, it only indicates that power is applied. 9. Led USER 9.1. During primary boot sequence The ewon will read its factory configuration (modem installed, serial number), in case this information appears to be corrupted, the ewon will stop displaying an error. 2 short red flashes followed by a ond delay. Corrupted factory settings 1000msec 100 100 m sec m sec 1000msec 100 100 m sec m sec 9.2. During Ethernet going UP process This includes the BOOTP process and duplicate IP detection algorithm. The following blinking pattern is repeated until IP aquired for BOOTP IP allocation and forever until reboot in the other cases. Page 3/8
Open ethernet interface failed (invalid IP address or controller not detected) Dupplicate IP address detection error Wating for BOOTP allocated address 9.3. Reset operation feedback When the Reset button is pressed during the ewon power on sequence, two kinds of operation can be executed: Format request Factory Out of the box reset (or full reset) 9.4. After a full reset When a full reset has been executed, it ends with the USER led displaying the self test result. Page 4/8
Result display 0,2 sec... The number of ond blinks following the initial short blink define the test result: Test result 0 Ok Meaning 1 RAM test error 2 Flash erase error 3 Flash write error 4 Real time clock test error 5 Flash device identification error 6 IO CPU error 10 Test error: the test itself failed 9.5. Not for resale after 12 hours EWON which are not for resale will stop functioning after 12 hours of operation. When they stop functioning, the USER led will start flashing very quickly. EWON disabled The led will flash very quickly. The ewon must be powered off and on to recover to normal operation. Page 5/8
9.6. Normal operation During normal operation, the led flashes about 2 times a second in green. The delay between 2 flashes depends on the ewon execution load. EWON disabled 9.7. During firmware reflash When you download a new firmware with ebuddy or by FTP, when the upgrade operation starts, the ewon is not reachable any more and cannot be switched off. The progress of this operation can be monitored using the USER led. 9.7.1. Downgrade When a dewonfwr.edf is downloaded, the ewon will first erase its flash memory. During this first stage the led will go OFF/RED/GREEN for about half a second each color. Then the second stage shows the normal flashing sequence. When the user led finally goes OFF, it means the firmware has been completely flashed and the ewon reboots. Page 6/8
First stage Second stage Page 7/8
9.7.2. Upgrade The upgrade starts when the FTP session with the ewon is closed (this is automatic with ebuddy). As soon has the flashing operation starts, the USER led goes red and there is a pause of about ond where the led is maintained in red. Then the Flashing operation is displayed by blinking the USER led in red with a ond rate. When the user led finally goes OFF, it means the firmware has been completely flashed and the ewon reboots.
